    Hi Ben, just been looking through your back catalog of videos and come across this one. You mention trying squid. Have you had any joy with squid or Cuttle for Turbot? Thanks Steve.

      Hello mate how are you doing?
      No it’s not somthing I have tried yet as honestly the time of year I fish for them round here Mackerel and big Launce are plentiful and haven’t had the need to try but a big white strip of squid would work as it’s so visual, they also have been caught on bright white lures so I have no doubt it would work. It’s trying it and having the confidence

      I will give Squid or Cuttlefish a go on one rod next time I get chance to fish for them. I will let you know.

    Another great video Ben, useful content clearly explained by someone who has done it, thanks for sharing. As a local kayak fisherman I would love to catch a turbot. Although I don’t venture much beyond 1.5miles out do you think there is much chance of finding them?
    Like the new boat too 👍
    Cheers

      Hi Stuart how are you? Thanks for the nice comments there. There are places on the south coast where they get Turbot off the beach with some degree of confidence but they are well kept secrets for the most part but winter time I strongly believe that Turbot move inshore, something that has some credentials to it due to commercial catches right in close but I have yet to try on a rod for them in the winter months but that will get checked off this winter so I shall let you know but you are still looking for the same things, the correct type of bottom with a regular food source for them and you’re half way there!

    Great video and channel Ben! very informative with lots of good advice and tips what would you consider to be the optimum drifting speed for turbot and what's too fast? thanks good luck with your channel I'm sure it will be a great success 👍👍

    • @theamputeeangler
      @theamputeeangler  2 года назад +1

      Hey Ross thanks for the nice comments mate appreciate that. Drift speed wise something about 1.6 -2.2 knots generally In my own opinion, you need somthing there to get the bait dragging through and they are not afraid to chase a bait once they see it, some good footage of turbot doing that on RUclips if you fancy a watch but if it gets to much then you can whizz through abit fast. That said if they’re are there and feeding hard we did have them last year when smashing through at 3knots on a bigger tide and the odd one over slack water too but it all depends if they’re there in the first place.
