There is I believe a better clip for attaching your hook trace it is used in the carp fishing world for attaching what they call a back weight. This is used for keeping the line along the bottom thenup to the rod tip. I believe this wold improve your brilliant way of live baiting , Thanks for all the tips I will use the live baiting rig from Chesil Beach. Tight lines Nigel

Hi Nigel! Thanks for watching one of my first ever videos (it shows that it is 😂)
It’s weird as I was actually thinking about re making this one to be more clearer and edited better and then you comment out of the blue on it 😂 but yes there’s a few new sliders out there for this but I always just like a clip swivel for it they all do the job!

Thanks for the video. Have you done a video on collecting small live baits or can you give some pointers on how to catch and keep live baits ? Cheers

      Hey Rob.
Easiest simple way is small hookai feathers bait with small strips of squid over some rock ground will get you pouts or even mackerel and then it’s into a round bucket with an aerorator pump and that’s it. Doesn’t need to be to hard mate

Same principle from the shore I assume mate? Or how would you alter it for off the beach?
    Great vid btw 👍

Exactly the same mate, if you wanted the bait more static you could use a grip lead instead of a bomb that would move around obviously but the principles are the same.
This was the go to rig back In the day of fishing from a high pier or steep drop and works just aswell NOW as it did back then 🙂

What's the advantage of this compared to using a float? Surely you'd cover more ground with a livebait under a float while at anchor?

At night you can’t see a float which is when do I this, daylight though the bait swims up and down the water Column as apose to your bullets weight holding it down at your set depth. I will use a float on a reef too more often than not to search out fish down the tide but at night I use this. This method also is great for fishing from high points such as piers etc 🤙🏻
