- SIB Fishing is back. I take the Excel Vanguard 335 out in search for Bass. Armed with soft plastic lures we go to the local mark called “the ledge”. It’s full of commercial Bass boats but we take a higher line and keep out of the way best we can.
Some great tips, funny antics, it’s certainly a different sort of episode. But I’m the Muscle Angler after all. I’m going to catch a fish. And a nice fish it was!

Nice video Jake and naturally presented. A quick mention as regards Chest waders at sea, they are safe as long as you have a waist belt on and with a buoyancy aid they will keep you well afloat. There's a few videos on RUclips to watch if you are worried. The chest waders being full of air and combined with water pressure, air can't escape. If you watch Trawler Men you will see the majority have chest waders on. Trust me I know!!!!
I have heard multiple stories. Some horrendous and some fine. I make it habit to have a dry suit anyway in winter/spring. I’d rather not take the risk so take them off rather quickly. Although they are very convenient. It probably all depends on how you fall in I would imagine! Thanks for the lovely comment!
I use chest waders when out in my sib, so much easier to launch. not good if you need to take a leak though lol. Have a look at this video Jake it might ease your mind?!

The parking is free on the road. Or very cheap in the car parks at the east end. Just take your time and pick your moment. I hope the weather is good for you. Will have some more Sib vids soon
Looks amazing out there could be abroad. Looking forward to getting out here but seems to be too windy all the time.
It will hopefully start to calm down soon. It’s been a bad winter and spring.

Waders are fine, a mate of mine did some testing and if you just float, there is no issue. It's just an old wives tale.
You need to have a strap around them at the ideally. Stops water coming in. If you walked into the water slowly the water pressure secures around your legs. Other angles can allow water in easily. But I do love my waders 😅
Another cracking video Jake, loved the banter between you and the other half, she should be out fishing more often, what size is your engine? looks like a 9.9, i'm considering one myself, after looking at what people are asking for 20 year old engines i think its better buying new.
I sent her a screenshot, hopefully this will seal the deal!! I have the Tohatsu 9.9. I’d buy new or “newish” market should get better soon.
Trailer is exactly the way I am going to go. Even if i have to add the engine to the boat when I am there it will still be MUCH easier than the agro of setting up a large ally floor SIB and worse, packing it all away again!
I can confirm a trailer absolutely makes the world of difference. The whole experience is so much more enjoyable
@@MuscleFishingOfficial I love my SIB but the first time I took it out I almost sold it due to the agro! Being in my 50s doesnt help even with my 30 year old son helping so hoping the trailer will be the way to go. Just got to learn to drive with a trailer so i dont make a fool of myself!
@@jjs3287 driving with a trailer is easy. You forgot about it after a while. The hard part is reversing. A thing I can’t seem to work out and generally just unhitch it and do what I need to do.

Do you find yourself needing or wanting more HP when you’re on the water with someone else or is a 6hp enough for 2 ppl and gear?
This engine here was a 9.8 Tohatsu. It was ok with 2 and had plenty of speed. I have a 20hp Polycraft 300 Tuffy now and I much prefer it! Super fast aswel and stable as anything!
Jake - where did you go to access the beach that close. I am in Eastbourne and wonder where you reached the beach with the car and trailer? It would really help me out. Thanks.
There’s multiple car parks you can do! Wish tower is good. Better to launch early morning though there as less busy. Otherwise most car parks along offer the launch. Pevensea beach car park is also right by beach

@@MuscleFishingOfficial it really is! I concentrate so hard on launching correctly and starting the engine etc that I forget! Brilliant video though passes the time until my next session! I’m up the road in Portsmouth 👍🏼😊
@@Samir02392 the engine start is my issue. Nearly every time it plays me up on start, but that will be fixed next few weeks with a big clean!
@@MuscleFishingOfficial my problem is I forget to set the throttle into the start position and end up pulling the cord loads in a panic before I realise 😂

I have a tendency to leave the launch wheels down as well 😅.. noticed when I see I was dragging along a 6ft length of sea weed behind!
What rods do you use for Bass? Looks like a coarse rod?
These would have been a light spinning rod. Probably my shimano XTC travel rod. Before a tope snapped it 😅

I hear it can still be catastrophic because the trapped air in your feet means there’s a life jacket on your feet. But I’m sure done properly it would be ok!

What sort of speed can your outboard push you along at? My 9.8 takes some time to cover the miles you traveled if there’s any chop.
Never looked. But we did 5 miles back from the mark in say 20/25 minutes
Thats 15 mph if traveled 20 minutes
