Good point about starting a new endeavor as a side hustle first. That's what we did and definitely helps with the risk aspect but then you give up growing as quickly. We started it on the side, and as it grew, we finally were able to step away from our corporate jobs to do laundry full time.
I built my first from scratch, because I had an old carwash. I pulled my demographics and the demographics of local successful mats, my numbers compared favorably.(I was building where there were no mats). Still I was 💩ing the whole time with every over run, everytime the city wants more code💩. Now we're looking for #2. People never know the stress of the self employed... well when do you get paid again?.... Fkn soon I hope!
There's been more small coffee shops going up where I'm from, population of about 120k, and all of them are busy as hell. I tell myself, do people not own a keurig machine where you can get better tasting coffee for much cheaper? I'm probably changing careers soon and I'm thinking hard what I want to do. I can either start/buy a business or work for someone. But the risk you mentioned in this video scares me a bit. I'll be 40 so I'm not young but also not old so I have a decision to make when the time comes.
100% accurate and that's why people who want it easy and quick cannot do it and hate those who can. I went from £0 to £15k a week after buying 3 units and doing a full on finance job. I did that for 2 years to get the capital together after I bought the places.
Some of the best and most realistic videos on running a business out there. Appreciate it!
Great advice Peter!
Great video!
Hey Peter I met you last year in Vegas. Currently remodeling my 1st store. Lots of mistakes made so far. This video came at the perfect time. Thanks!

Umm, yes it's the only way. Wanna know about some interesting businesses?
If you were starting fresh today and it's a business other than a laundromat, what would it be? Btw, love your videos, keep em coming!
Donut and coffee shop. High margins and low cost.

I think with coffee shops it's not about coffee, it's about the experience.
