Brady, you are so dedicated and one of the hardest workers I have ever seen. A mom and dad working together making a unique special home for their children and the family's life together.
I admire the hard work being done by this couple! Husband is building their new home while wife is taking care of the girls! I wish them a happy and healthy life together! Aameen!
I went through 2 major remodels when I was their age with my husband doing the majority of work. We both worked full-time and had 3 kids. I just feel she could be helping a lot more.
Hard working family entertaining Texas Seniors. We have traveled Italy, Spain and France. We would have loved to do this type project but at 80 and 84 not doable. Corpus Christi TX is nice and hot right now.
Can you imagine when it is all done Heather and Brady and having your coffee in front of the fire. Exciting times. I remember the first day you all came to the barn and starting digging for miles and now you are level with the floor again. What a lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears ago. Have a lovely week.
A goat barn on the side of a hill in Italy, I thought these people are crazy, thinking they can build this into a home, Well did I ever underestimate Brady/family and the Italian craftsmen, it is the best build on all of utube and I watch a lot of building/renovations projects, although it maybe not the biggest project, it is certainly the most interesting build, so many complications for such a small build, I can't wait to see them having a morning coffee overlooking that beautiful valley.
Actually the information about the moisture barrier wasn’t confusing or boring. My mom lives in Ohio in a home that was built in 1900. She started to get a leak and spent over $1000 having her metal roof resealed. But she still had the leak. Then I found the entrance to the attic and found the hot air was making its way into the roof, creating condensation and dripping back down inside the house. We had to put a fan in the attic and spent even more money preparing the leak in the wall. Had I known that is what happens, I would have looked inside the attic first instead of spending all the money on a perfectly good metal roof. I watch DIYers for the knowledge not just entertainment. Please keep up the “did you know” part of your build. Thank you.
It is astonishing to realize how far you dug down into the floor and now you are back to about the same level you started with! Amazing! Your house will be very warm with all that insulation!
The way you’re turning a stone barn into a warm, welcoming home is nothing short of remarkable. Adding floor insulation is a step that speaks to your care and attention to every detail, ensuring that this space will be both beautiful and cozy for years to come. Your dedication to preserving the old while embracing the new is truly heartwarming. And I am Floating Village Life.
I can't imagine what the Italians think about your perfectionist attention to detail...gotta be a challenge? Love your style...this will be a very cozy home... Cheers!
I just wanted to say Thank-you! Your videos have added a flavor to my week that has me not just enjoying the magnificent view and the glorious stone, but also making my brain go "AAH" at all the "hidden" parts of making over your house. What a trip!
OMGosh, I’m not even in the same country but totally felt like I was choking when Brady was cutting into the wall and that enormous dust cloud was enveloping him! The man is a beast!
Dear Brady, once again, I am astonished at your hard work and ingenuity. I can barely keep track of what goes where between the conduits for electrical work, the moisture barriers, etc. It's amazing you just keep going with humour and patience. I can imagine how nervous you were about the windows being measured downstairs since they have to be fitted into stone. I keep praying for you and your family. Liebe Gruesse aus Deutschland ❤️🙏✝️💙
I’m loving watching this. We built our home in NZ nearly 20 yrs ago, we insulated it really well. We used a similar flooring base - the floors are never cold and even in winter the house never drops below 16C with no heating. We used a Wispa glass which is a thick insulating, sound proofing glass. Worth every cent. And once again, I marvel at your work ethic. I know you say you are saving money, but it’s only saving money if it’s done well and professionally - which it obviously is. The love and care in your home will ensure your family will have a Treasure for decades to come - next, little cabins so we can all come and stay on your land and help do the gardens!😂😂😂
Instead of mounting the lights individually, mount them on a round or square plaque set between the rafters. We use this a lot on classical yachts. You can even tailor the plaque to compensate for the inclination of the roof. Also, make sure the lights don't glare in the eyes of people on the stairs.
Brady, you have done a tremendous and backbreaking amount of work in building/renovating a beautiful dream home for your family. You and Heather are a hard working couple, but know you will really appreciate and enjoy your home when it is finished. We are praying for all of you. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Brady, starting to look amazingly beautiful, I can believe how brave you are to do mostly by yourself, your family is lucky to have you as Head to your house. 🍀
You know, Brady, as you lay in all of this insulation I can actually hear your home ‘tighten up’. No echo-ey sound can get in. The house begins to sound solid and wrap you in warmth! You can actually hear the difference, not just feel. How exciting! Ginger from Michigan
Well, you have the construction well documented. Once you move in, you will be enjoying the comfort of your new home for many years to come. Relax and enjoy the journey. The house construction will be completed soon then you can move on to outside projects.
Once the doors and windows are in it's smooth sailing. I see next summer you spending most of your days landscaping outside 😊. Just an idea for you, you may want to install some up lights in the floor by your rock walls. I did it in my cabin in Wisconsin and love the effect. I put mine on a dimmer switch to set the mood when the fire is going. You wouldn't be disappointed if you spend the extra time and money doing it. 😊
I am loving your journey as you build your new home. You are amazing at the attention to detail. Moisture is a huge consideration and you are not skipping any detail. Nice work.
It’s amazing how quickly things are moving! I remember when you were digging the floor for weeks, and that is so far behind now. Today I whent back to when you guys visited to property to purchase and there was a Donkey called Stella, just wondering what happened to it? I also realized how much more of the family you were sharing at the time. It was very nice to see it as a family project, but being a mom I also understand that the girls need privacy. I hope you are still as excited about the project as that day when you visited the property. I really enjoy watching your videos, can can’t wait to the decor phase! 😊
I love, love this sight. Ok, let's just face it, I am addicted! The tenacity, integraty, certainly the fortitude. Your family is lovely. I hope all the your dreams come true. You work hard enough for them. I have told all my family, friends and loved ones about this sight. Guess what, they are already watching! Go push your rocks around. We will be here.
- Future below grade moisture control. I have always had a basement (Indiana). Learned many years ago the very practical use of a “Dehumidifier”. They pull gallons of water from the air/stone/concrete/wood. So simple and very effective. Controls mold, mildew, odors and all associated. Would need a drain to allow humidifier to drain naturally or a pump. They come with buckets but daily dumping is a hassle.
Your place is really coming along, well. You guys are so inspiring! Brady, you make everything that you do, so simple and easy, if one is as dedicated as you! All three ladies in your life, are so lucky to have you! I can't wait to see it finished. Take care of yourselves, Kathleen Nansel Rogers
Ciao Brady, you are reaping what you sow; your hard work gets you close to your finish line! Many blessings to you and your sweet familia! Ciao! Blessings
I’ve been following along on this epic journey since the beginning, and I have to admit… in the early days I didn’t think this project was worth all the chaos and bumps in the road, but now that I see it coming together, I understand your determination and desire to move forward. You two have a beautiful vision and I am so excited for your family! You are very similar to my husband, such a hard worker and committed to getting things done!
Loved this episode so much!!! I share you and your family's excitement and joy about your new home. It looks absolutely beautiful!! You guys have done such a wonderful job filming your progress!! It truly is an amazing journey you have been sharing with us. You're living the dream, and we're living it vicariously through these outstanding videos. As always, the music selections were fantastic. Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives. I am so appreciative!!
Wow Brady your work is commendable. Just to watch you I get pains and aches. 😂😅😊 Every week is getting closer for the final🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃. Hardly can wait to "move in"😊.
Oh, how you move me emotionally. I know I tell you this repeatedly, but I admire your choice to sell your home, travel to far away lands and finally get a beautiful piece of paridise in Italy! Then, you a d Heather and the girls put in your labor of love. Ipray you get in the house by Christmas.
I think you know that everyone who choses an old stone house to renovate it and wants to build a dream hous will go thru some nightmares, - but you are in a stage to not give up, because it is on a good way, keep strong as always and best of good luck, i love your videos ❤🍀👍
Hello from Oregon! We love watching your videos on Sunday mornings! We’re so curious if there’s a several month lag between when you film and when you post the videos. Seems the weather/foliage on trees etc is always quite behind what we’re experiencing and we have a similar climate here. We used to live in Torino! Your project is lovely! So very impressed. Would love to see more about your lives outside of building the house- daily life, learning language, how girls have adjusted etc
Your home will be absolutely fabulous when you’re finished. What a beautiful place to live. I appreciate that you want to do most of the work yourself but I really like that you’re using local talent to help. Great interesting project.
Bradey you have worked so very hard yet again!! And the house is starting to really take shape. It must be so exciting for you. Great video again!! Well done!! Take care of yourself. Big hugs for all.
I am amaized of how much work you had to do and still have to do on the house but never the less , you are one step closer! So excited to see the house all done! Blessings!
It is when you look out of the window, and into the village below that you know why you moved there. The home you have built is just that, a home, not just the house that so many of us have built and "live" in day-to-day. Growing and developing within a different culture can be a challenge, but the benefits will far outweigh any challenge. I would wish that when I was younger I had the foresight to see what my future should look like, and if I could wake up tomorrow in a home like yours (on the other side of the valley !!), I would be deliriously happy.... I wish all the best to you, and your family...be safe...
I grew up in Ohio, and back in the 1950’s - 1960’s our all of our meters were inside the house. It must have been assumed that the women were home during the day, so the meter reader would have access to the meters. I remember as they eventually got changed to the outside. The excitement is rising for the day you all walk into your finished home. Brady I hope you’re feeling proud and accomplished for what you’re doing. You have matured and learned so much on the journey of bringing this house back to life. From a finished house it will become a home once you all step through the beautiful threshold with love and gratitude in your hearts. God bless you all and the fruits of your labor. ✌🏻❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸PA
I strongly suggest that you bend the necks on the fixtures for your Edison bulbs so that they hang properly. My husband took old porcelain industrial lights and placed them on an angled ceiling in my studio and they look fantastic! But he had to alter all of the necks on those fixtures before installation. Bravissimi
From the natural light the house is already showing the very beautiful aspects! Can't wait to see the finished project and all of the wonderful choices before and after 😊
It's Sunday evening in Australia, and I love it when your video comes out. We installed XPS insulation boards in our house 18 months ago, but we used a 2 part adhesive to glue them to our timber substrate. They've made such a difference to our house.
❤❤❤❤ a heart for each of you! I look forward to your videos every week. Such a massive undertaking but the joy you all will have living in that beautiful house in lovely Italy will be worth it all!
As you know, with ANY project, there are hiccups. With one this big, you'll get plenty of them, but you learn to enjoy them as a learning experience, and next time you encounter them, it will be so much easier. Plus, you get to pass down that experience to the girls for when THEY start projects later in life! You're doing great things here Brady (and Heather). Love watching the transformation of the property! I do wonder if there is a compression factor with the foam insulation with the weight of the floor on it, or is that factored in to the install?.

So not even for renovation? Cruel!

She helps a lot too
And edits. That takes a LOT of time! I don’t know how she does it! I look forward to seeing the family move in and put their personal touches on it.
She definitely helps a lot with the building.
Indeed she also works with her husband apart of taking care of her household!
I went through 2 major remodels when I was their age with my husband doing the majority of work. We both worked full-time and had 3 kids. I just feel she could be helping a lot more.
Wow Brady - so much work and so much detail - you have really put so much blood, sweat and tears into this house ! You amaze me.
Bravo, Brady! I don't know how you get up every morning to go back to this hard, slogging work.
Sorry to be obvious, but don't forget to take a still photo of each wall showing the routing of the wiring before the final rendering.
You work so hard on you future home for your family I’m so proud of you ( I’m 71 years old )
The ancient beauty of this stone barn is shining through the new build... wonderful craftsmanship and good old hard work is paying off!!
Great to hear you speak Italian with the workers you will learn so much from them indeed

Brady is an incredibly hard working man. Hats off to you sir.

@raisingvoyagers Can you do a video of the italian town you're in?

Absolutely astounding, there are really no words that would give justice to this rebuild. This is a newsworthy event!
Just have to say again how lovely the archway you remade between rooms is.
Such an amazing project almost finished ✔️ ❤❤❤

I’ve been with y’all through this whole Journey. Still excited about everything. I can’t wait for you guys to get settled in and decorating.😂❤
You are lucky to at least have rain. Here in Spain we have a terrible drought. We desperately need rain.
Great job Brady!
The natural hardwood windows are going to be beautiful with the stone 😊
Finally your hearts desire the pool
Thank you for explaining all this moisture and insulation stuff. My wife's parents house is full of mold, now I understand why
It's Sunday evening in Australia, and I love it when your video comes out. We installed XPS insulation boards in our house 18 months ago, but we used a 2 part adhesive to glue them to our timber substrate. They've made such a difference to our house.
It’s Sunday morning in Texas.
It's 3.24pm in the UK.@@LayneToler

It's not boring and confusing...you did a great job of explaining and I understood exactly what you were talking about!
Are you going to be able to move into the house by winter. Your progress is outstanding ❤
We enjoy every show. Thank you for sharing. It’s amazing
What an amazing job 💪😮
