I like mine. Only had one trim tab issue that i caused. I did a permanent fix that still makes them adjustable. But you have to remember This is plastic. And you're sending a 7lb boat into a rock. Its going to happen. These weren't designed to take on crazy rapids. The back lid doesnt seal. What you see horizonhobby do in their videos is what its for. In the end its a toy. Ive had tons of boats and i think this one was worth it.
Overall, I love the boat and its so capable in the rapids that I wish it were stronger. Thats whats so frustrating, they could have the most fun boat ever if they built it better. The Thrasher seems to be able to withstand more but it doesnt look nearly as cool.
I’ve smashed several rocks, have had to wade into rivers for it but I love this thing! I’ll probably get another and customize it with 3-D printed bumpers on the spots it’s for sure going to hit. I would like to know why I didn’t get an American flag though!
New subscribers. I have been getting into the boating RC's. Nice and honest review. I was saving to get one, and really thinking of a X-mass gift to myself. but i been holding out watching reviews, and i still will be holding out. Have Fun.
Just took mine up to some awesome rivers in NH. Thing is so cool looking going up river. I did break one half of a trim tab so need to fix that but otherwise very cool! Oh and I hit a rock and it flipped and I had to chase it down river with no shoes. Getting some water shoes next lol. If they come out with another version that’s stronger I’m in for sure!
Sounds like a lot of valid observations, hopefully ProBoat will address these in an updated version of the boat…I’ll wait to see if improvements are made before I buy one…which I was ready to do until seeing this…thanks for the info…
Thanks for the honest review, was really thinking about getting one that's why I put the review on . I really don't want to put out $600 - $700 and then on top of that keep draining my pocket to keep it a float. It's advertised as a basher boat I would expect more from it also especially for the price . A little disappointed cause it looks really cool. But you can only use certain times of the year also . Mostly gonna be a shelf queen . My bashers get their use believe me.
good evening, thank you for your vidéo One question, I have a lot of boats and I grease the transmission hoses every time I go out. It's normal For this one, even if it's a rigid shaft, you still have to lubricate it But on the instructions, they don't say how often And the problem is that you have to dismantle everything each time and it's long and restrictive if you have the answer to my question thank you very much and have a good evening
Ive only lubricated mine a few times and ive done it using oil on the shaft so that it runs down into the bushing. So far it seems to be working. I was thinking of adding a small grease fitting port the the tube.
I broke my trims tabs immediately. I am going to try to figure out something to make permanent fins on the bottom of the boat. I broke a corner of the back edge of the bash plate beside the trim tabs as well. Luckily I didn't damage my roll cage etc. If they could fix the issues with this boat it would be awesome. It is a ton of fun to drive but it just needs its issues fixed. Hopefully V2? I have to wonder if they even test drove these as mine broke the tabs immediately and I wouldn't even say I was bashing it.
I figured I wasn’t the only one. My guess is they’re used to making boats for boring flat water. No clue of the potential these have for bashing in streams and rivers. It’s like a completely new segment of RC. I hope other companies see this and make a truly bash worthy model.
@@rcilluminati26 I am with you on that! It is a new segment of RC. I wasn't interested in a boat for the reason you stated in your video. Flat pond=boring. Hopefully we do see a bunch of boats to choose from in the future that are made with the proper material and design. I think they tried too much for scale realism with the trim tabs etc and should have went for toughness instead. The only reason I am going to try to fix it up is because I really enjoyed running it!! Also...thank you for your videos on the Sledge. They were a great help.
I've been watching alot of videos on this junk shit , I've got one coming , and have plans to improve it right out of the box , there are some trim tab supports for it being printed out for it , but I'm planning on just putting jb weld on those , very lightly , and that little edge up front on the hull , im glue some fuel line on that , bright green for them to stand out on purpose , ill also being jb wld on cage connection spots , you brought up issues that are very true and ridiculous , but were all ready for this stuff to happen so ill be able ng it alot stronger , but that trim tab thing is just mentaly ridiculous , I'm building a soft impact jump for it too , great vodeo
@@rcilluminati26 heh RCi, have you tried the Streamline RC Thrasher, slightly different take on a water basher that actually works and yet to find someone who actually broke one yet, even after a 230m water drop. it's where my money is now going
I was thinking that, maybe a section of foam under the roof panel and small foam tubing on the cage. The foam would also protect the cage a bit. Keeping it upright would be huge for running on rivers.
I bought new Mojave than realized lhs had one of these , as fun cool as it is I’m not sure I want be first boat I try in salt water , canal in my yard . They have cheap gps you can put in the boat just in case goes down stream , rc driver used it
No change there then from the original Proboat jetboat that I bought, failed first time out after first run, before in fact, the roll cage detached taking out of the box, hull had pinholes on the transom allowing water ingress, sat it on the bank and the dam thing was starting the motor and it ran aratically with no input from the TX, battery tray detached itself on second run.. should never have been released to the public like that. Oh, it had never been dropped or hit on any rocks, only used on a lake with grass banks, two runs only ! The local dealer had his stranded upside down in the middle of a lake, self righting did not work even on 4S. I nearly dropped coin on one of these but fortunately, they are almost always out of stock here in the UK, just as well as parts are just the same. Streamline Thrasher is a far better option, for sure.
Yep there should be a LAW against making things out of CRAP PLASTIC so many things glasses, headphones etc... brake so easy when my water bottle that gets thrown away CANT BE DESTROYED guess what they KNOW THIS and it's made that way ON PURPOSE
You know Jetstream itself is welding a rc aluminium hull for the tfl jet engine? A completed boat may cost a couple of times more the proboat does but well, you get something made out of metal. 😊
I do and it looks awesome until you look closer, not only does it end up costing three times as much and without radio comparatively, it has no hull protection unlike the real boats and therefore the aluminium takes all the beating and it is still limited in what it can do and where it can, as like the ProBoat version it has no self righting and so you lose three times as much as those Proboats owners who have already lost theirs

This is supposed to be a bash boat. In real scale, they race these up rivers. There’s no reason they can’t make it from stronger plastic. Driving boats on flat water is the most boring thing ever, this boat was made for rapids!

My first hobby grade RC was around 1984. lol I know they aren’t perfect but if you see how tough a car is like the Traxxas Maxx Slash, for example, you know they can make this boat indestructible. Plenty of RCs can survive jumping 50feet in the air. This boat needs to be built like that.

Sorry to hear that. They def need to improve quality. The Thrasher will likely be my next boat.
