I would like the Lamborghini Aton. However I have to mention the Concepts like the Nissan NX 21 a breakthrough in engine technology, or Lamborghini P140 which brought us the Diablo in this case is far better than the concept and finally Mercedes Benz 190 Cabrio that never saw the light, a shame really. Very interesting video, when the concept looked something very futuristic.
Brown or not, I would love to have a Citroën Karina. At least it would have been in somewhat affordable, if ever built, compared to the likes of Lamborghini and co.
Funny you mentioned the idea of jump-starting a new idea to the public with a concept. The Trans Sport (and its relatives Chevrolet Lumina APV and Oldsmobile Silhouette) were already fully designed and ready for production before the concept was even thought of. So while the production vans were indeed radical for the time, the REALLY radical concept made the production cars far more palatable when released two years later.
Just ask Lamborghini if they can build you one, and if they will accept a 1000 year long down payment plan. On second thought, it would probably be priceless and a billionaire would probably pick it up for the twice the price you payed for it after you had your fun with it.
I want a first gen Pontiac Transport. A white one. The production model still looked like a prototype. That thing looked like some kind of space shuttle.
I feel like in general, 80's concept cars were basically all a result of that one guy going "What if we did this?" and everyone else was just too nice to tell them no (At least before the people much higher up did). Also, I have to know what that song is. I love it.
These concept cars should look like the cars in the 2020s. The cars in this future of 2022 are not what i expected. They should look like these but nope, we didnt get a Bladerunner,Total Recall,The Running man future that i dreamed of as a kid in the early 90s watching 80s scifi movies.
I seen the Citroën Karin and the Lamborghini Athon at the first car show I remember going too. I had the program for many years from that show and both cars were featured in it. That is why I remember. I also recall seeing a Range Rover concept topless called Ranch Rover at another car show, which also had the new DMC 12.
The most daring car concept aspect we had in the last 10 years were petrol engines. That's the most daring and creative thing about them. How sad...since the 2000s, cars have become so boring
These models are so hard to find that I think even Jay Leno does not have them all. I did, however, see the Briggs & Stratton featured in his channel. By the way, Leno featured the first ever true hybrid, the Owen Magnetic, manufactured in 1915!
The Pontiac Transport concept was a little odd, but still good looking and miles ahead of the real world Dustbuster with a three foot deep dashboard that GM finally produced.
The Karin didn't pre-empt the F1's three seat layout by "decades"; the Mclaren was released in 1992. Mind you, the Mclaren was designed by a proper engineer, not a stylist claiming the credit as "designer".
I love these concept cars, the more bonkers they are the better I say. People now days try to hard to fit in, and it makes everything absolutely boring af.
So Fiore designed a 3-seat layout in 1980, “decades before the McLaren F1” - which Murray sketched in 1988. And stop that constant mocking tone, please. I can hear your eyebrows.
@@goclunkernope, not in my browser. Besides that, even my mobile divises don't have grammar checking and finally you don't have to be such an annoying fartknocker.
Would love any of these especially the Briggs and Stratton hybrid. As far as it staying a hybrid it wouldn’t. I’m sure with my mechanical background I could get a REAL engine in it 🤔🤔🤔 Wonder how a supercharged V8 would go 😂🤣😂
Which of these should have been built?

The Concept Trans sport by far! It should be made today. It would actually sell in todays market of super SUV's.
Brown or not, I would love to have a Citroën Karina. At least it would have been in somewhat affordable, if ever built, compared to the likes of Lamborghini and co.

The Louvre pyramid wasn't around yet when the Citroën Karin was built. Not for another 8 years.
It's also not pronounced "Loof ".
And Countach isn’t pronounced as count-ashe either.
So the Karin inspired the McLaren F1 and the Louvre. So definitely the one that deserves to be built.
That concept Trans sport is awesome. It's like a Helicopter and a Nascar got fused into a mini van. I mean look how thick those tires are!
Tesla copied it
A minivan that looks like a Star Trek shuttle and goes like a Lamborghini? Where do I sign? 💕

ATHON ATHON ATTHON !!!
I wish car makers were as creative as they were on the 80s
what's the name of this song?
Wonderin that too
my favourite concept from this video is the "Battlestar Galactica Runabout"
Pontiac Trans Sport looks like a Toyota Previa concept,
That Trans sport is bloody amazing!
Production versions were called " Dust Buster Vans " ( A small hand held vacuum made by Black & Decker )
@@bobroberts2371 lol👍👍

These concepts are not so "crazy" compared to the crazy SUV crap that we have today.
They might be crap but they aren't "crazy." These are original ideas; SUVs are boring because they are derivative.
Thanks to your video I recognized TOYOTA stole the idea of a minivan styling from PONTIAC and made the 1st ESTIMA. They look very similar to me. 5:47
My favorite vehicle on the list would be the Pontiac Trans Sport . I like the huge glass sections and the weird front bumper with the thin headlights
- 100% design and originality
- 0% safety, production-led and regulations
👌🏻
That is the exact definition of a concept, and the same reason why it never makes it to production and looks the same most of the time.
3:20 If we're talking about early hybrid concepts - we got to mention Porsche Mixte [1900]
Your missed the Dodge M4S aka "The Wraith" car
What is the song used?
yeah i dig it too. Sadly no clue
I'm also interested. Actually coming here kinda regularly to see if it appears.
The machimoto feels like an 80's version of the polaris slingshot. Not wholly practical, but it would probably slay the vacation rental market
Premiers? What? Why is this a thing? RUclips has seriously screwed up ideas on how to annoy people.
Best decade ever!
The Tran Sport concept makes me think about the Tesla Model X ^^
Awesome background music!

You're crazy if you drive the vehicle in the thumbnail faster than 25mph. Hit a pothole and there's gonna be 3 casualties.
Great video. Interesting and funny, with a fantastic selection of weird prototypes!
God that prism transition effect was making me feel ill....
nice to see concept cars ive never witnessed before
Music ID anyone?
6 Months later and still no success unfortunately despite multiple efforts.
Briggs and Stratton?!
That Machimoto reminds me of a cross between a BigTrak and a Sinclair C5 !
I think the Machimoto was intended as an industry joke, a sort of dig at how loony concept cars were becoming.
Best than todays
Design language... I like that.
It would be cool to see most of these concepts be cars of the future with modern instrument touchscreen / projector layouts

dare i zay, the 80z waz the mozt entertaining decade of mankind in many areaz!
the car in thumbnail looks like go kart for family 😂😂😂😂😂
“4 seater” when the picture clearly shows 5 7:14
The Pontiac Transport could be made today, it's a lot like a tesla X
Ok that Plymouth voyager III concept is pretty sick. Makes me wanna build something similar myself haha
Hmm, i have a dream of being a car designer, so this could be some inspiration
That Machimoto contraption looks like a stretched Sinclair C5 : and about as safe
Ok, besides the amazing content, the music in this video is majestic! Does anybody know its name or author?
You actually missed the best of the lot: the Ferrari Mythos!!
I forgot about that one. I think it looks good. Has a little Lamborghini influenced style?
Idk why that Citroen interior looks so aesthetic, even the way the car looks, if you look at it longer it just looks prettier somehow 🤯
The Italdesign's gear lever and dashboard are from a VW Golf 2.
What song was used in this video? Very cool music!
The Bertone Genesis looks awesome...would love to own/drive it!

Concept cars are crazy in every decade.
What ever happened to the Ford Minivan with the Straight 8 engine?
I saw the machimoto in a book but never realized they actually put people in it
HubNut drove a TransSport recently (the production version)
How many of these had swing-wing doors?

My Favourite from 1989, The ❤️ Mythos ❤️ Pininfarina 👍
What’s the tune you used please? Me like.
I wonder if they watched the movie Demolition Man a few times to create these cars

I like the Plymouth Voyager 3. Twin engines sounds like a big fuel bill though.
I like the Citroen Karin.
All nuts. I kind of liked the song though...
The Lamborghini concept, if you were to cut it in half and display just the front half, would look exactly like a mid to late 80s RX7.
- Å fan!
The future of the Karin
2:45 no cómic sans badge???
What about Nissan MID4 Type II Concept ?
How long is a decade?
Ten years.
Cool
The Voyager III is very similar in concept to the scale model Amtronic released by AMT in 1969, though without the jet engines and hovercraft mode.
I built that kit and loved it. :-)
Do a YT search for " Boaterhome "
The first actual hybrid was the Woods Dual Power from 1917 as far as I know. 🤔
Song???
A lot of the boxy production cars were due to the metal they were using not being good at curves. (Or holding paint)
Gull wing 4 seater Lambourghi ??
I love these concept cars, the more bonkers they are the better I say. People now days try to hard to fit in, and it makes everything absolutely boring af.
8:06 that actually looks nice, make it into a EV with some tweaks.

The latest Hyundai Staria comes close to its similarity. Might wanna check it out than whining without awareness.
