If I end up going to School at Ole Miss then I CAN NOT WAIT to audition for the choirs...I remember Ole Miss Singers coming to our High School YEARS ago (1997) and doing a concert there for us in our choir room....I get CHILLS when I think of the musicality of this group of outstanding musicians!!! Sounds great!!!
Doing this with my mixed for festival this spring. My chamber singers won the chamber/madrigal division at this fall's ole miss choral festival. Very nice. Haven't really heard Ole Miss singers since Jerry left. Lots lighter sound now!
I'm guest conducting this with my college choir on Saturday. Love this piece, and Ole Miss does it very well. Curious-- was the raise in key due to loss of energy in certain places? I know that's something I've had difficulty with. This is particularly true of the soprano divisi (e.g. "soon will be my bride"). Our choir has a lot of really large voices in it also, which has proven quite an obstacle to overcome in the blend department.
Performed this in the early 80's at Nicholls State. Strong basses will really make this song. Hear the tenors are very strong, and the basses not so much. The words are voluptuous and rich with passion and love.
well, yes and no. i was studying countertenor at the time but i was not singing countertenor in this ensemble. nor was i singing in this recording since i was conducting.
I remember sooo very well. I was there. My friend and colleague was 'Stellar" in his performance with the Chamber Singers.
We are singing this in our chorale!!
It is a beautiful piece, with very beautiful words...
A very beautiful portrayal of love..

Hey, buddy, thanks for conducting these great musicians so well. This song was performed superbly.
one of the madrigal groups at my school is doing this piece, and it's one of my favorites, it's so beautiful..

Is this a whole-step high?

This does sound nice, but one question that is plaging me: Why isn't this in E Flat?
The pitch is one half-step higher because that's where we pitched it. It was easier to tune in E than E-flat.
