that is, if they didn't bother to double check the container serial number to be the one they are supposed to tow, then its their fault those numbers are there for a good reason
i think the only practical use for this would be to load containers into heavy lift aircraft. where forklifts and cranes can't go. they're going to sell literally tens of these.
Many large businesses, which can negotiate having short term demurraging fees waved, such as large department stores, are using containers for short term storage, especially around the holidays. So there may be a market for these after all.
Have some one on the jacks to lower the container .But if the contain runs off some serious slope and heading for 50 miles a hour .It time to give up lower the jacks and jump clear ..
@@deezelfairy That how they manufacture a mini van ..Full size van at the end of assemble line ..Get two trucks to sandwich it ..Send it back in to factory and repair the paint work and dents..
Interesting concept, but at $50k new, max speed of 3-mph, not road-legal, and set-up time in the half-hour range, I see buying a used container-forklift for $5k far more realistic. With the forklift, you can load and unload containers from a flatbed truck, there's no way to take a container from parking lot to load-frame with these trinkets. My god, you can almost buy a NEW fork loader for what these list for!
+Lance Cole or buy used . rent excavator for 5 - 15 grand. and heavy strenght chain and hooks. and you can still us the excavator 4 other stuff as well.
thats for airports ports and stuff where you cant you tall forklifts so that you can for example drive into the plane and put it into the vam to get the nect
Not sure where you're getting your numbers but scrap value of a container capable lift is well over $5k and you're going to be over $50k for one that simply starts and operates reliably, a good container lift is going to start at $75k and go up from there, but I agree this unit is pointless.
Was thinking this sounded like an interesting but rather pointless very few situations where this would be beneficial. With the time it takes to setup and the slow max speed along with a limited lifting capacity. I'm sure there would be a more practical solution.
how do you get these units in and out of a truck? They look way to heavy even for 2 people. Overly complex and impractical for most applications. You can pickup a real nice Container forklift, or even a rollback truck for way less then these are worth. Simpler, only require 1 person, Forklift is MUCH quicker, and with the truck at least you can take it on the highway.
It's not meant for most applications, it should be obvious that this kind of stuff is for some special use cases. Of course forklift is a lot better, but a lot more expensive too . . .
tyvek05 no nothing ? You need a vehicle plus four of those jacks? It is a cool invention but it does take alot of time it seems. Wiser to invest in truck with a crane or something.
Toonz Brah you cod rent one of these devices if you have got a container on your land that needs moving. A lot cheaper than hiring or buying a crane. Also the access is easier.
Reading all these comments all seem to come from people who have never had to work around containers filled with work goods. It is meant for a small yard were you have 15-20 different containers that are all filled for different purposes. This way you can push them into tighter spaces, keeping your small yard free from clutter. You can bring the container you need inside, prep it with all the gear needed for a job then take it outside, ready for the swinglift to pick it up and send it to the job site. Or it can be used to transport containers around a site, so that you can work on many projects without getting a crane in every time. Or transporting your forklift to site to move your containers around. Those that say get a forklift, do you know how much a forklift cost that can pick up 17 tons? It is an excellent solution for a specific issue, and if you have never been in the situation that you may need one, then try and think outside of your square.
For everything that thing can do, a forklift could do better. Stacking is out the question. Tight spaces don't qualify because you have to be able to move the back wheels out the way and that contraption doesn't seem light. I'd be willing to bet that moving that would take that same truck. I'm sure you can get a used forklift for 50k maybe even less.
This would be a great way to start a small company that picks and and deliver these things to smaller customers. that might want to use them for storage spaces. But im sure those tires can't go on the real road way.
I guess this could be used in rural or 3rd world ports or maybe on private property. Also maybe if you only need to move containers with long intervals inbetween, this device may be cheaper to store/maintain. It is a very niche device
I think the DoT will have a bigger problem with you driving 6mph on the interstate than they will with the tires on it. But in short, no. It's not road legal.
Takes forever to set up and the max towing speed makes it useless for road use' and i bet you could buy a container purpose fork lift for less money!! Pretty pointless!!!!
Not bad for something a person could use solo with their pickup to move a Conex. I'm sure they're not ideal for much volume, but I'd love to be able to rent one - much better than a tractor and poles, the way I usually do it
I'm seeing in other comments on here pices of $50,000, £37,000... so no, the things aren't cheap... but I could see places where they'd be handy. Of course, not every location has warm, sunny weather. I could see this exercise being a lot of fun on a snowy day in the North.
Completely pointless. And here's why: 1) It takes too much time and effort to set it up, to use it at a port, or otherwise industrial area. It would be much more useful if both ends were single components and both with small lawnmower engines to power the hydraulics. Then not in use the end pieces could be connected to each-other towed as a small trailer. Any respectable industrial area would surely have the correct large machine to do this job much faster. 2) This will hopefully never be street-legal. Can you imagine this thing coming at you at any speed? In no way can a vehicle that small and light stop a 20+ ton container.
All these comments are CRAP. I think it is supposed to be used where forklifts or cranes can not or must not operate. It is made for a small niche, and I definitely think there IS a niche.
It is for a niche for exactly what you say, places where a forklift or crane is inaccesable and also places where an additional 20-30tonnes of forklift is not an option. Its a neat idea, a bit pricey but I can see the uses for it. It's meant for people who occasionally need to move containers a short distance (feet, not miles! 😂) , possibly on job sites and can't justify the cost of a big forklift. Also it's more portable, moving a 15 tonne capacity forklift to a site is a huge expense!
Идея занятная, но неясна целевая аудитория. Для коротких перемещений слишком много возни с установкой. Для редких перемещений - высокая цена. Для перемещений по дороге нет соответствующих допусков и низкая скорость.
+Almedin Rovasanin A fork lift or crane would have to be transported to the site to lift the container, which costs lots of money and time just to load and unload those pieces of equipment. Plus you have to pay for the operator. This piece of equipment can be transported easily in a small truck. But if you weren't so "dum", you'd know that.
Q;uickLoadz makes a system to moved empty or loaded containers, it takes 2 minutes max, and is so automated the driver never has to get out of the truck. No rain, no snow, no cranes, no winches, no setting anything up. easy
No brakes?! Must not be roadworthy. Where is this applicable? Seems like a huge waste of time and manpower to accomplish something that could be done with the proper lift truck. I just can't see where this would be useful, and with manual Jacks? I think we could've figured out some sort of hydraulic lifting with all that engineering
This is a good how to video. How to strip the clutch out of a van using a 20 FT container
Good idea, -if it's cheap enough, but the towing speed is very limiting.
I guess it's mainly used for moving containers around nice smooth airfields?
Not a bad concept at all, but how much time does it cost to set it all up, without cuts ;)
Three days later after completing the puzzle in record time the container was found to be the wrong one.

The maximum speed quoted in the video is 6mph.

Practical yes, if one only has a pickup truck or suv or possibly a tractor to tow it around, still cool functional idea

What about braking? That van can’t possibly have the needed braking power.
Probably the reason for the VERY low speed limit.
