I use your videos to go through step by step with my camera and try what you do, its nice to see a video thats shows step by step on how to use this camera.
Thanks! You're so quick I had to keep pausing and going back to take notes. Getting my 1st dslr Nikon 5100 tomorrow - can't wait!!! Keep making more videos and I'll keep watching them.
Excellent video, the Nikon D5100 is one of our favourite cameras as it is so versatile and pin sharp with the right lens. Image quality compares to any 16MP professional camera at six times the price, so highly recommend!
I've seen heaps of videos and reviews of the D5100 but yours is the most comprehensive. I'm browsing in youtube on different reviews of different dslr's because i've got plans of buying my own dslr, i'm pretty much convinced that the D5100 will be the perfect camera for me. Thanks again for your review.
@luckyvindana HDR mode is only enabled when shooting pictures in Normal or JPEG. HDR function will not work when shooting pics in RAW or NEF. Simply hit your info button twice and then select your picture quality....switch it to "Normal". Then, go back into your shooting menu and HDR should now be enabled. Its also important to note that HDR will not work in green AUTO mode!!.... I mainly use HDR function in P or A mode. Hope that helps you..
Goddd...U r a star!!! I got my Nikon D5100 recently & my husband wanted me to learn how to use it... ur video is so...clear that even Dummies like me can try clicking beautiful pictures... & u have highlighted such good features in this Camera... Thanks a lot oliveira... I am subscribing for ur videos. :)
Great video, you lets the people how to know more about D5100. I have one question, some review of camera store said that nikon have minor quality on indoor shooting then canon. Is that true? what your opinion? i plan to have DSLR camera, but still confusing about nikon D5100 and canon 600D. thanks
soon I will be a proud owner of a D5100. Buying my first DSLR for my upcoming vacation. So much to learn about the camera but too little time before my vacation :( Is there a quick reference chart for different settings for different subject like people, nature, city view, sports ?
I had to make the same choice and chose the D5100. Almost all reviews I read/watched said the Nikon takes better photos and the Canon has better video features, although not necessarily guaranteeing better videos.
they forgot to mention which lens he uses during the last shooting session in this video! definitely not 18-55 mm and that may be the crucial in that situation :) Anyway great amateur dslr i took a tons of amazing photos!
I found all of your videos very useful... but can you do a video on setting custom white balance.. It will be really helpful if u do a in depth study on nikon's D5100 CUSTOM white balance. Regards :)

hello Wagner been tinkering with my newly bought 5100 Nikon camera, but just wandering if this camera has black and white option that you can turn pictures into. I think a lot of people still love the b&ws. James
yes. your Nikon D5100 does have a B/W feature built in. Set your camera to "Effects" mode on the dial located at the top of the camera. Now turn the thumb dial on the back of the camera to "Selective Color". As long as you're NOT in "Lv" you will shoot pictures in B/W.
when I try to on HDR it says " This option is not available at current settings or in the camera's current state". why is that? please explain. thank you.
I like to take a picture almost anything, from portraits, landscape, in low light & night, animals far in the safari, and my frisky little daughter. What's the best Nikon d5100 lens for me that can tackle all?
Camcorder? Yeah sure, I have a Sony camcorder and I can't even adjust some settings manually. And you do realize that most HD videos here are taken with DSLRs, right?
