    As a Falcons fan, I 100% agree! It's a breath of fresh air to hear someone with common sense with Cynthia. Could we have went edge in the first round? Absolutely. That's still a minor concern. But we already have a few young guys, on top of the Trice pick (which I think was a steal), that very well may surprise everyone. We're set for now, and set for the future. Love it.

    Ask yourself this question how did it work out for the Jets in Aaron Rodgers. How did it work out for Matt Ryan and the colts. Or Russell Wilson and the broncos. Then ask yourself this question how did it work out for Carolina and Bryce Young. And I could go on and on. There's no guarantee drafting a quarterback or signing a vet. So when you have the unique opportunity to do both do it.

    The rookie QB contract myth is ridiculous. Since ‘94, only THREE QBs have won a Super Bowl on a rookie Contract, and ALL OF THEM, got a new contract before their second if they had one. The other premium positions give you financial flexibility as well.

    Dear Dave:
    1. Obviously a team would like to take advantage of all 4 years of a rookie contract but that doesn't matter. No one cares how much or how little money is spent or even who you draft if you are winning. We (a Falcons fan) aren't looking for a rookie to carry the team and we also aren't depending on a very good but aging vet to be great for 4 years.
    2. The Falcons did not know if Penix would be available at #8. We tried to get an elite pass rusher in FA but it didn't work out. I personally didn't think any of the pass rushers in this draft were transcendent talents. We were not a decent pass rusher away from being 10-7 last year but we were certainly a decent QB away from being 11-6.

    Worst move in the 1st round. Falcons are playing to win now. Bijan and others are on rookie deals. If they added the pieces they needed they could have conteded for the NFC title. Edge was needed and WR depth. Could have got some of the best at pick 8. Penix is already 24. You don't draft a rookie QB pick at 8 when there are other needs to pick to win now. Cousins lasts 4 Penix is 28 coming in. Kirk gies down,Mike is not NFL ready. They should have signed a back up like Mike White level or even Jacoby Brisset , Joe Flacco or an Andy Dalton

    Kirk Cousins has been the most consistent Hall of Fame quality quarterback over the last 10 seasons. Penix has yet to prove himself and may or may not become a Hall of Fame quality quarterback. The Falcons are right there in terms of a Super Bowl and may have blown that opportunity by not helping themselves now with their first round pick. Two years from now the Falcons will face a real problem. Do I continue to play a Hall of Famer with more in the tank or start the player they feel is their franchise quarterback. I wonder how much they could get right now in a trade for Penix.

    • @scott4825
      @scott4825 Месяц назад

      Why the are people saying things like "the Falcons are right there in terms of a Super Bowl". They won 7 games and lost 10 in a weak division, and their division rivals will likely be better this year. But, if they are ready to make a run, I agree that the pick pulls talent away from Cousins. Then to me Penix isn't a guy who will benefit even from spending a full season on the bench, and I think 2-3 will do some damage. He had like 4 seasons of starts on college. He's older and had some big injuries. He's not a developmental project.
      Frankly, I don't think the pick was bad, but they overpaid for Cousins.

    He wasn't a top ten player on most boards, that's called reaching, when u draft a guy u could've traded down to get, cause u think the raiders or saints are gonna grab him 🤣 so what if they did? Get a different dude then. The bacc up QB needs to be serviceable, not cause drama and controversy, definitely not make the Starter uncomfortable. The Falcons have fucced up many drafts. Then they try to tell us they're gonna win, then they lose. All the while NEVER owning the mistakes they've made. A man owns his mistakes. I call them children cause they don't own up to mistakes they've made. They always try to put a positive spin on a disaster. I'm tired of it and so are Falcons fans. I don't like the GM or Coach. They turned down the Legend Bill with a handful of SB Rings for this slop and tell me they made no mistake? 🤣 What bs is that? Take a player rated like 27th at 8th? Is... just stupid and silly and childish imo. If they had a prestigious past like the Steelers or Giants I would be more likely to give them the benefit of the doubt. The Falcons do NOT have such a past. Falcons past is filled with losses and mistakes therefore, they've no such credit with me. They don't get a tab. They get no benefit of the doubt. Own the mistakes or go bacc to the nursery children! 🤬 Just thinking beavis and butthead are better than Legendary Coach Bill is insane imo. Makes me laugh when Falcons say that wasn't a mistake when that was one of the biggest mistakes they ever made. It's sad how stupid they can be. #Reality
