Something to keep in mind about cousins is that over his 13 year career, the Achilles injury was his first ever games missed to injury. He is a man made of steel.
@@trillest1 haha its a leegitemate argument! Brady went through his fair share of injuries but was able to of course be that outlier! Cousins has only gotten better with age and takes amazing care of his body
Great video. You made me see this situation in a completely different light. I have the 3.02, 3.05, and the 4.07 in a SF draft. If either Penix or Nix drops, I'm scrambling to move up.
This is the best analysis on the Penix-Cousins selection that I have read or heard - and I have either read or heard almost all of them since the draft ended. Thank you!
Great video. Liked the breakdown of the contract, made it much easier to open the wider perspective of how the Atlanta Falcons actually constructed the contract. No one in the media besides Tom Pelissero has broken down just how team-friendly of a deal this is for Atlanta.
"Whats certain is not exactly how long its going to take until he becomes a starter it's just a matter of when that actually is." Aren't "how long its going to take" and "a matter of when that actually is" the exact same thing
I like the diamond hands reference for him. I've considered trading him (for Jermaine Burton and Sinnott in SF TEP), but think his value is just going to go up, so staying pat makes sense.
Great analysis! I’m surprised I haven’t seen more talk of good teams picking Penix late in round 1. When else is a team coming off a a championship going to be in position to draft a QB with top 10 draft capital? I have Rodgers as my 3rd QB (behind Allen and Love) so Penix was the perfect pick at 1.12 to put on taxi to bridge me until Rodgers retires.
In a 12 team, 1QB rookie draft he was all but forgotten about, so I traded a late 26 3rd to get him at 4.05 to taxi behind Kyler and Tua and just keep appreciating in value
@@Delmiester For the most part yeah, but that doesnt mean QB hording doesnt still happen to deplete the wire of options for everyone else. In this league there are teams still rostering guys like Hendon Hooker and Zach Wilson. Actual roster cloggers. Even in 1 QB, Penix will still have value in a year, so mid 4th I consider him a steal
4.05 in a 1QB dynasty league? I love it. I’m eyeing him at 3.02 in a 14-team 1QB dynasty league. I drafted Love and sat on him until he started. I can do the same with Penix.
I've been debating trying to jump the Cousins owner at 2.01 because I agree that Penix will be coming in sooner than people think. He was the 1.08; it is unbelievable to me he is going so late.
Outstanding analysis- all the schmokes ripping the Falcons for the Penix pick are going to eat crow. I could see him stepping in and getting them to the playoffs this season
I might be able to pick him up on the waiver after my 3 round rookie draft, but i dont want to hold him on my roster for 1-2 years. No taxi sqaud here.
I’m a Falcons fan and I saw this coming that they had a possibility of drafting Penix with our 8th pick bc they all went out to Washington to work him out and this let me know that they might draft him with our 8th pick.
The two years looks better back loaded London Bijan and Pitts plus Penix doesn’t looks like they’ll keep Cousins on financially still promoting two QB system this year 🔥
I stole Penix at the 3.05 in our 10team Superflex draft. I was stoked that he fell that far because I traded my second round pick to get back into the first round.
Can i get help? I like this video. I'm trying to rebuild a really bad and old team. The only bright spot is puka haha, but i do have 1.3, 1.4, 1.9, 2.2, 2.9, 3.2 and 3.3. I'm thinking of taking Penix with 2.2, with the thought i need another year to rebuild probably anyways.
I think a lot of your QB examples dont really apply here at all, but one you missed that i think does (Wentz i would say is the best one you brought up, btw) is Brock Osweiller (lul remember him) and that egregious contract he signed.
He could be on the field as soon as this year but no later than after year 2. Most likely plays in year 2 with that being the last year of cousins guaranteed money. That's what to expect. Don't have to be a football genius to figure that out.
And when talking about Rodgers, how do you not mention his contact situation? That was arguably the biggest reason for them to draft Love and what did they do? (would've been Love's third year I believe), resign Rodgers. At which point Love stocks plummeted. It was ultimately Rodgers relationship with management that got him to want to leave, i don't think it really had anything to do with Love.
correct. they resigned rodgers after the 2021 season and then adams still left. i text nick a couple days after making this video and said it was the was one thing i left off in the video- that in hindsight- i should have mentioned as well.
Hard to compare GB situation. It’s almost like a QB inflation. QB’s are going to go higher than ever now. Mac jones & Bo nix type qb’s go top 15…. J love better QB prospect than both of them but they went higher in the draft. Cannot compare MPJ going #8 to j love going in the late 20’s. The value is not the same as it was back then so the falcons shouldn’t be shamed for using #8 on a QB
Re Branding is not good when the original brand was solid. The new BDGE logo is super weak. Bring back the old. Adding Adam was a solid move. The other adds are meh. I miss the days of Ercolono Animal and Snacks. Miss the content with fade the public league. I know things change. Stay close to what made the brand.

Got him at the 2.10 in a 12 team SF. I also have Cousins. Couldn’t believe Nix is being drafted ahead of Penix
Nix is going to start, so, there’s that.
Most likely, but Nix is so uninspiring. Paxton Lynch 2.0. I don’t have faith in Nix’s ability to throw it more than 10 yards.
@@MitchellStone-or6bf that’s fine, Payton didn’t draft him to drop dimes 45 yards downfield lol they’ll play to his strengths.
I think Nix could be really good if that late Brees offense is what they run

I managed to get Penix at the 2.08 after spending all of round 2 failing to trade up for him. He just hell into my lap.
