I had accidently spilled wood stain, and it had trickled down my leather sofa which I had not noticed at the time. I had tried everything to remove it before watching your video. Your third method worked an absolute treat and completely removed the stain. Thank you so much! 😊
It looks like a Dobie Pad, made by Scotch-Brite. Dobie is intended for washing dishes and is well-known for being safe for delicate nonstick pans where other plastic scrubbers are too harsh. When I saw what pad he was using, I could tell he was knowledgeable.
Not to sound self serving, but I'm releasing my interior cleaner called "Lather" in the next few weeks. In the mean time, you can use warm water and the slightest bit of dish soap. Very little...and work it slowly and gently. Its not ideal, but if you are in a pinch.
Hey bro that was awesome I have an issue have somebwood chairs I bought and were still alil wet from the finish it got on the ivory vinyl pad any ideas I. Tried everything
Hi came across your video while looking for tips on how to clean a stain on white couch leather. My dog throw up and went trough the tin protective sheets. Would be able to provide me a specific plastic cleaner brand and/or yours if it’s out
Instead of plastic cleaner, get white Feibings saddle soap for leather and that will pull way more off than any other cleaner without hurting or changing the leather. You could still use your rag and brush process with saddle soap too. I work leather for a living, you can also use feibings leather balm for cleaning with a flat finish. The reason this worked was because you basically wet sanded the leather with that abrasive cloth and that soap but saddle soap will blow your mind on shine… and clarity of the original leather color.
Hey Larry, ive done a few details for friends and family and a big part for me has always been their reaction once I show the finished car to them. This video got me thinking, could you do a video of some of the reactions you get from customers? It might be a bit awkward pointing the camera at them, but if possible I think it would be cool to show one of the more rewarding parts of detailing someone else's car. I love the videos btw, it always gets me motivated for the Saturday morning clean :)
Nice work one of my “Go To” cleaners ive used over the years is the original non Pumus Go Jo hand cleaner a great thing about it is its safe on your skin and cleans up with just water plus its pretty cheap and easy to find ive used it on my own $ several thousand dollar couch in my living room and i beleive the Lanolin actually conditioned the leather although I’m not a Scientist BTW ive used their Orange Pumus degreaser to polish a Motorcyle Engine on the bike using a Rotary tool and polishing attachments why you ask? It was indoors and i didnt want toxic fumes Or have to wear respirators ! I did however use other polishing compounds for some of the final buffings my next motorcycle i will however do the motor with it out of the frame and apart to make it easier to get into all the small areas probably clamping many of the parts in my vise and Saddle makers leather clamp that can tightly hold odd shaped parts I built the clamp myself as i do use it for hand Stitching leather projects as well
While the paint is gone, the abraded leather surface where you removed the paint, is still visible at the end of the job. Was this picture taken before or after you put leather conditioner and/or a leather wax or protectant on that area? Great job in removing the old, dried paint spot.
I would also suggest lightly heating the leather with either a heat gun or a hair dryer before applying cleaners and conditioners. It gets the pores in the epidermis to open allowing the chemicals to penetrate deeper.
Thanks for all your videos. I follow all your tips and I have been detailing for 20 years. One thing I struggle with is ink on leather, sometimes it just wont come out. Any suggestions?
What exact cleaner did you use? I know that details have access to types of cleaners not usually on the public market. Or is it like commercial grade stuff
thanks for the reply. Sorry to bother again but what kind of interior cleaner would you recommend? Upholstery cleaner? I know headliner is sensitive so I wanted to have all the right steps down before I clean it. Thank you
have you ever dealt with tire stains on vinyl or leather seats. happens often when you transport new tires in the back seat of your car. you later find the ugly look of the tire print permanently on the seat. Any tips to remove those kind of tire stains?
"Goo gone" products work good on untreated paint. It took spray paint off of a motorcycle fairing. The paint was baked on for years over the rear fairing clear coat. none abrasive. Looked brand new.
Very similar technique to what I used to do for leather seats in airplanes. I used to use Ultra Fine 1000 (10.3µm) wet and dry Microgrit sandpaper with a cleaning agent. Never failed to get the marks out. Pen on the other hand is a nightmare. Have to use a very harsh chemical, wipe it off immediate and then chuck a neutralizing agent or cleaning agent to neutralize the leather from becoming too soft. Then usually had to respray to get it back to the right colour.
How can I remove aged and harden leather conditioner on car seats? I scrubbed off some with a gentle soap but other areas are not possible to remove, even with a scrub brush. What remains looks like a shinning clear coat.
:Larry, I have a Newer Audi TTS 2011 with a tow tone Black interior with grey inserts (seats). After a few years of jumping in and out of the car with jeans and such, the light grey on the corner of the seat has dark blue(almost black) stain. How would you approach this problem (product) and get the stain out. thanks I am a Fan great Job Larry!
I stained the leather with chocolate months ago and used a foamy glass cleaner with a non-stick kind of pad because I didn't have any leather cleaner -- leather looks new again -- thanks
It looks like Scotch-Brite Dobie All Purpose Cleaning Pad. I think its that one because we use them in our household. They're pretty good. It's a sponge encased in a plastic feeling mesh type thing....you'll see if you buy them. You should be able to find it at your local Target or Walmart. If not, then internet :P
I'm 16 years old and have no doubt in my mind that I will go to college, but I really want to become a professional car detailer much like yourself. Which specializes in paint correction and things of that nature. How can I go about doing this? Did you go to college? How did you get your business started? Thanks you in advance for a reply. PS to reply to my comment mouse over my comment, and to the right there will be a reply button. Thanks again.
I have an old grease stain on my back leather seat on my acura tl. I have tried just water, then just a leather cleaner , than just degreaser diluted 10:1, diluted 4:1. I'm at a lost. Should I try a steamer next?
HI how would i remove a curry stain to a cream leather interior using home products please ive used a milton sterilisation tablet which has helped a little would you recommend i leave it on as a paste and for how long?
I have a question. how can can you tell the difference between discoloration and a stain on leather? I have a greenish blotch on my driver's side seat that puzzles me. I'm almost thinking it's discoloration from wear and might need a good dye job and condition, or it's a stain, I can't figure it out
Thanks for great videos and effort. I was wondering if you had a chance to shoot a video on alcantara. Can't seem to find it. If not can you offer a quick advise on cleaning alcantara. I still have some Adam's cleaning solutions. Have both carpet/upholstery and plastic/leather cleaners. Not sure which one is better. Thanks!
I have a small jeans stain on my white leather car seat, what is the safest way to remove it? I’ve tried turtlewax luxe leather which didn’t work out, and im afraid to damage the leather using a magic eraser .
For ink try a product called Amodex... it's not specifically made for car detailing, but is amazing stuff and is an indispensable tool in your arsenal once you discover it! (I work with leather and had discovered it after researching the best product to remove ink stains with without harming the leather at all, and decided to give it a try after seeing it was very highly recommended and also fairly easy to find... even some major office supply/stationary retailers carry it, and of course Amazon too). Well, I was so thrilled with the results (that was many years ago that I'd discovered it), that it's now definitely my 'go-to' cleaner for ink stains on leather (and many other surfaces as well)... and also works on a number of other types of stains too. I realize your comment is a year old now, but hopefully this is helpful info for anyone looking for an easy, safe, and excellent way to deal with otherwise normally stubborn ink stains (or others of that sort)!
I have water spots on my hood that seem to not go away I cant remove them by waxing either its like white water spots what could I do should I wet sand or clay first please reply
Listen to his important side note: 'Use a leather conditioner afterwards.' That is because abrasive puts a lot of stress on the leather and needs to be resealed again.
@ANMO NYC My sons black recaro car seat bleed into my red leather seat in my M3, I’m assuming from him spilling his drinks and it left a huge black mark. Any tips on how to get it out or what to use? I’m tried soap and water, leather cleaner but that’s about it. Hope you answer thank you
My gray leather interior on my '07 Corvette is stained with sunscreen. I've tried everything and can't remove the green color stain. Do you have any product which will work to remove the stain?
I had accidently spilled wood stain, and it had trickled down my leather sofa which I had not noticed at the time. I had tried everything to remove it before watching your video. Your third method worked an absolute treat and completely removed the stain. Thank you so much! 😊
Used this technique on my buddy's Honda interior to get little old paint spots out of the seat. Worked wonders!
It looks like a Dobie Pad, made by Scotch-Brite. Dobie is intended for washing dishes and is well-known for being safe for delicate nonstick pans where other plastic scrubbers are too harsh. When I saw what pad he was using, I could tell he was knowledgeable.
thanks for the info!!
I have to say you're pretty good I've been Detailing for some years and I like your work!
Larry these videos must feel like a you tube time capsule. Well done sir.
Hey, I have a super soft interior cleaner and gentle brush to agitate the surface of the leather. Then remove with a microfiber towel.
Interior cleaner, brush, and a towel to soak up the wet spot. Super easy. Good luck!
Thank you! Spilled latex house paint on my leather, plastic interior cleaner and brush like yours cleaned, perfect result.
Not to sound self serving, but I'm releasing my interior cleaner called "Lather" in the next few weeks. In the mean time, you can use warm water and the slightest bit of dish soap. Very little...and work it slowly and gently. Its not ideal, but if you are in a pinch.

You look like you need some sleep Larry. Haha. Awesome video!!!
@ James Ryan. I believe that the scrub pad is a 3M Dobie scrub pad.
Whoa, Larry without his trademark black nitril gloves...I've gotta buy some AMMONYC products, they look awesome.
Apologies if someone asked before, but what is the name of the spray used?
