There were leaks from the closed beta in 2019, I think Venti was saying he wanted to avoid running into her in Fontaine. It's old and even the pronunciation of "Foçalors" was different, so they may have changed their minds after all these years
i love how so much of her is an act that it's hard to tell who her real self is. beneath her confident and elegant allure is someone who is afraid. the scene of her hugging seymour hits so hard bc its a little peek into her vulnerabilities. i love her character so much!! good luck to those pulling for her!!
Lol elegant? More like arrogant and boisterous. I love Furina too, but the airs she puts on is really pompous and full of herself, while the real self underneath is less confident and self assured. I really love her and cant wait to pull for her since I have a guarantee.
This teaser feels so different compared to all of the teasers we have had so far! Like the movements, the mysterious yet sad vibe, the simplicity, and the intensity of what is happening! And yet as she speaks it’s so calm… almost off putting Edit: I agree that Nahida’s is the most similar in terms of how dark and sad the teasers are. But this one gives me way more chills because it shows how Furina’s personality is really just a mask and it finally breaks. Her voice also carries more emotion to me, as it sounds like she is crying. Nahida was always a kind person and kept up the personality for the whole teaser and story quest, so her teaser doesn’t show as much of a development to me. It shows that by the end she is sad, but anyone would be in that situation. Probably because she is more mature than Furina she keeps herself together and continues telling her story without crying (difference in character). This is just my personal opinion and analysis of the two so no need to take this so seriously lol
This teaser really gives me a different vibe than lot of the others. the way there’s a big focus on almost breaking the fourth wall is really interesting. She’s not interacting with any other characters, It’s more like she’s having a one on one conversation with someone or something.
The fact that she still tries to keep on smiling even when she has no one left... Furina is absolutely beautiful in this teaser. Can't wait to pull for her!

It's crazy how many times Furina/the video alters our perception of what we are watching: 0:15 - It is revealed that the first few scenes were actually a picture slideshow controlled by Furina 0:37 - Furina is not in the real outdoors, but on stage 0:48 - All we saw was mirrored until now (this is my favourite) 0:57 - We were viewing it through a tinted lens until now 1:06 - Furina making us conscious that we are listening to a recording 1:34 - Slightly more debatable, but I think we were watching the meka hound's camera vision as she moved towards it to hug it 2:02 - Furina breaking the fourth wall (again) by staring right at the camera (us/the viewer) when she talks about deceiving fate (the gods' gaze, that only sees her weeping on her throne??) This shows the various layers of Focalors/Furina's deception and the immense complexity of her character. Bravo to the production team!

It’s just that Focalors managed to change they way things happened and protected the people of Fontaine. But the prophecy was always meant to come and so it did. In this teaser Furina mentions how the fate will never deceive you(fated things will never change) unless you can first deceive fate itself(change how things happen or in Focalors’s case she deceived the heavenly principles a.k.a fate, and in that way she somewhat changed the fate of the people of Fontaine).
cause in 4.0 4.1 Furina you saw just an acting role of her, silly young god. The other half of her is planing to save her people along. She can sees the future but when she just keep trying to solve the problem by herself she still not see the good ending way, that's why she always cries alone. She just like a lost child struggling

I don’t know if anyone noticed this, but if you set the slowest speed at @0:49 and look closely, you will notice that after the smiling Furina broke the mirror, her face became sadder with each “frame” and she stopped smiling. A very interesting detail that not everyone will notice

Honestly. I usually used JP voices, but after redownloading for Fontaine when it released, I havent changed from EN. And damn, Furina, Neuvi, Wrio, and Navia. Props for their EN VAs, they gave life to those characters.

it really cannot be emphasized enough - the english voice acting for her was done so unbelievably well and is definitely deserving of an award, although, regrettably, with a game like this one it likely won't be in the conversation for such honors. Her portrayal of furinas erratic emotional states and her alternating between them so seamlessly truly made this an unforgettable experience and definitely elevated genshin's storytelling to a new high.
Oh absolutely! I was completely shocked by the sheer range the VA has - she managed to pull off Furina as an Archon, Furina being herself and Focalors with such a clear distinction while maintaining clear similarities between the three to keep them technically a one person's voice, it's actually insane. And her portrayal of emotions is also spot on. I saw a video in which the VA was saying she originally auditioned to be Eula back in the day and I am honestly so glad that she was originally turned down and ended up as Focalors instead. Eula is a great character but the VA's range would've been completely wasted had she been casted as Eula back in 2021 and we never would've known her true potential.
Fr, Furina and Raiden's VA's (Amber Lee and Anne Yatco) are my favourite. They couple portray 3 different personalities naturally whilst still feeling distinct. Really epic casting.🙌

Furina is by far the most complex character in Genshin, she's very unexpected and this teaser made her even more mysterious than she already is, I can't even tell atp when she is acting and when is she being her normal self.

That is the only way actually. Go back to 2.8 with the GAA event with Mona, she specifically states that once the future has been foretold it becomes immutable. If a person is fated to die on a specific day they will die on that day no matter what she or anyone does. So this means the exact words of the prophecy will happen, Fontaine WILL flood, the people WILL dissolve, only the hydro archon WILL be left. Furina's true goal then is to find loopholes, twists and exceptions to the words of the prophecy so that when it does happen it will happen to the letter but not the spirit of the prophecy.
When I heard about the prophecy of Fontaine, I immediately think things will be similiar to Thor: Ragnarok. Let the prophecy happen, but make sure it doesn't mean everything is lost.
What a dang interesting character. I'm continually impressed by the nuanced and original characters Genshin comes up with, buht Furina feels like a particularly special case here on the near eve of the primary finale to Fontaines story.
I love how in the Fontaine arc directly introduces us with their archon from the get-go (compared to other regions so far) yet we still know nothing much about Furina. Im so excited to get her!
I love how the VA slowly but surely lets her tone of voice get softer and softer to the sadish tone of voice from the high normal pitch. Her VA Is amazing and has definitely made me love Furina.
As a beginner in Genshin, I can say how well the writers designed Furina's characteristics and has the appearance of a princess with a melancholic yet cheerful story of her. It is sad to see how her life have been through as Archon but at the same time still a mystery in the"Masquerade of the Guilty" and her Teaser. Absolutely Love her character so much, Can't wait to get her!

@@w3v3zI saw a lore video that theorized the prophecy already took place. And everyone from Fontaine is basically a Hydro idolon (the water droplet things we met in 3.8). This video in a way kinda confirms that, would be crazy if true.
The line, which by itself feels a little cheesy to me, carries alot of weight and intrigue in the context of the story inparticular to Furina's story ahnd whatever she has up her sleeve for the her grand finale here.
@@roennyh1362 the issue is that none of the fontainians are blue haired or pure hydro when using elemental sight Unless of course, there is a perfect method other than the lochfolk's imperfect method to replicate that (I mean, we're talking about archons) If the prophecy had already happened, and the current fontaine is just one giant recreated stage, then there's a huge power required to maintain that giant stage Perhaps this explains the large amount of indemnitium? Perhaps this is also the reason why the fontainian tectonic plate is raised? Perhaps the actual fontaine that was already sunk, had the same sea level as the rest of teyvat? "To deceive fate", perhaps we could actually bring back the true fontaine after the end of teyvat's archon quest through the loom of fate, I mean "The fate will be yours to re-weave"
I was wondering the same thing! Based on the whole connection of practically every world quest with Seymour and the former Institute of Natural Philosophy (Alain, Ann, etc), it seems that the whole story could potentially play a big role in how Furina escapes the prophecy
I realized that in the beginning, there is TV static, and her eyes and hat are flipped because it's a recording she is inverted until she removes the lense that transition is so clean. It is so beautiful. I love this trailer, and I can't wait for her release.

Wait sudden realization but we have two shots of Furina’s face while she’s crying: In her Pneuma form (1:12), a tear falls down her right eye, but in her Ousia form (1:57), a tear falls down her left eye instead. I love all of the intricate details Hoyoverse puts into their trailers, I can’t wait to see what happens next

OH MY GOD SHE'S HAMLET. AND SHE PLAYED HER PART SO WELL SHE DECEIVED ALL OF US. I'm gonna elaborate because this has been driving me crazy and I need a place to put my scattered thoughts (this is partially based on hunches/theories so don't take it all super seriously). The entire archon quest is based on the blurred line between performance and reality, which is a major theme in Hamlet, who feigns insanity to the point where we don't what's an act and what's not. The fontainians love their charismatic archon (who also seems to have a blurred line between persona and reality) and they absolutely eat up "plays" in the form of trials. But there's a larger performance at work where all of the major players; furina, neuvillette, arlecchino, lyney, wriothesley, etc; are all trying to out-deceive each other. Furina is dismissed as someone who doesn't know what she's doing, but in the end this is what she WANTS people to think. People think they know what's going on, that they're the one manipulating the situation to their advantage, but they have no idea that they're actually playing exactly how Furina wants. It's exactly like Hamlet! As neuvillette says in the 4.2 trailer, "you're a devious one, focalors". The best part is that she's not some smug manipulator behind a chess board. In fact, she's just a emotionally volatile as her persona makes her out to be, but this complexity is what makes her character so interesting, just like Hamlet. In the end, the two of them are so desperate to try to escape fate (in furina's case, the prophecy) but their lack of taking action is their downfall. The icing on the cake would be that the prophecy has to do with the previous archon and she's trying to amend the wrongs (bc this would be so similar to hamlet avenging his father's death), but ofc none of that is revealed yet. I'm sure these parallels to Hamlet weren't intentional (I might not even be accurate in my analysis), but I'm so excited to see what hoyo has in store for us!

@@lum_berry111 Sort of? Irminsul more or less rewrote memories/the timeline so that things could be explained without the person who was deleted. It's not just people's memories, but also the physical memories of the world (since it's all connected via ley lines). If it only affected people's memories, then Nahida wouldn't have had to encode Wanderer's past identity into a storybook in order to remember him.
Now i can understand it... For furina the fate of Fontaine was real because she herself was a character on the stage, making her so afraid of everyone discovering who she was.... In the end, the director of the opera was foçalors and she was the only one who knew what would happen and that's why someone then tells the traveler to play her role on the stage... Idk

Yeah, I remember lots of people hating her as soon as we set foot in Fontaine. Me, I was like, this is only one side of her, we need to see the other. Nahida is Rukadvahta’s predecessor, Ei took over for her sister Makato, and venti rose to power only 300 years ago, some time after decabrian’s death. Inazuma showcased physical prowess in the archon quest, Sumeru on the other hand showed us the mental tricks in the archon quest but Fontaine is a freaking roller coaster of both
idk why but fontaine’s music really takes the cake with its story. like this particular song feels so gut-wrenchingly moving and emotional, while also having a devious undertone that you can’t quite shake. like something else can be heard amongst all the sounds. i think sumeru’s music did this well too, but it was a different feel entirely. sumeru’s music felt hopeful and lively, like a forest full of life, while fontaine’s music feels like a never-ending sea of waves that look pretty from afar, but they reveal themselves to be a huge tsunami once they start approaching.. idk man
I remember when Furina was just a very plain 2D concept art that came out as a leak back in January, but seeing her as she is now, Hoyoverse did a great job on character building for her.

I believe that when she says “Unless you can decieve fate itself” is that in the prophecy it states she herself will sit on her throwing with only herself and her tears. But in the 4.2 trailer it is heavily implied (or more said outright) she will die. So I think she is trying to prevent the prophecy by making part of it untrue.
It looks like a stage play. It's surreal. Also congrats to her amazing voice actress. It doesn't even feel like acting. It's like she is the character herself. Something rare to get right for English speaking VAs.

honestly all the archons have been pretty good VAs! Harlacher/Venti actually sang in the Weinlesefest event, Silverstein/Zhongli 😳, Yatco/Ei played three roles as Ei/Makoto/Shogun, and both Campbell/Nahida and Lee/Furina have been *really* good at breaking our hearts

I liked Furina from the beginning, . Since the act III and IV, I starter liking her even more. And as we progress into the story I am loving this character more!

Same. You can't really go wrong with hydro characters since they define all the reactions. I agree that furina is must pull because of many things, especially what u said. Furina literally 10/10 design for everything regardless of meta strength. Dont worry about if you "shouldn't pull for her".

This teaser feels so different compared to all of the teasers we have had so far! Like the movements, the mysterious yet sad vibe, the simplicity, and the intensity of what is happening! And yet as she speaks it’s so calm… almost off putting
Edit: I agree that Nahida’s is the most similar in terms of how dark and sad the teasers are. But this one gives me way more chills because it shows how Furina’s personality is really just a mask and it finally breaks. Her voice also carries more emotion to me, as it sounds like she is crying. Nahida was always a kind person and kept up the personality for the whole teaser and story quest, so her teaser doesn’t show as much of a development to me. It shows that by the end she is sad, but anyone would be in that situation. Probably because she is more mature than Furina she keeps herself together and continues telling her story without crying (difference in character).
This is just my personal opinion and analysis of the two so no need to take this so seriously lol

This teaser really gives me a different vibe than lot of the others. the way there’s a big focus on almost breaking the fourth wall is really interesting. She’s not interacting with any other characters, It’s more like she’s having a one on one conversation with someone or something.
She could be talking to Seymour as evidenced by her hugging it.
And the fact that she says this is just a recording playing on your head proves what you said

It's crazy how many times Furina/the video alters our perception of what we are watching:
0:15 - It is revealed that the first few scenes were actually a picture slideshow controlled by Furina
0:37 - Furina is not in the real outdoors, but on stage
0:48 - All we saw was mirrored until now (this is my favourite)
0:57 - We were viewing it through a tinted lens until now
1:06 - Furina making us conscious that we are listening to a recording
1:34 - Slightly more debatable, but I think we were watching the meka hound's camera vision as she moved towards it to hug it
2:02 - Furina breaking the fourth wall (again) by staring right at the camera (us/the viewer) when she talks about deceiving fate (the gods' gaze, that only sees her weeping on her throne??)
This shows the various layers of Focalors/Furina's deception and the immense complexity of her character. Bravo to the production team!

It’s just that Focalors managed to change they way things happened and protected the people of Fontaine. But the prophecy was always meant to come and so it did. In this teaser Furina mentions how the fate will never deceive you(fated things will never change) unless you can first deceive fate itself(change how things happen or in Focalors’s case she deceived the heavenly principles a.k.a fate, and in that way she somewhat changed the fate of the people of Fontaine).

I don’t know if anyone noticed this, but if you set the slowest speed at @0:49 and look closely, you will notice that after the smiling Furina broke the mirror, her face became sadder with each “frame” and she stopped smiling. A very interesting detail that not everyone will notice

it really cannot be emphasized enough - the english voice acting for her was done so unbelievably well and is definitely deserving of an award, although, regrettably, with a game like this one it likely won't be in the conversation for such honors.
Her portrayal of furinas erratic emotional states and her alternating between them so seamlessly truly made this an unforgettable experience and definitely elevated genshin's storytelling to a new high.
Oh absolutely! I was completely shocked by the sheer range the VA has - she managed to pull off Furina as an Archon, Furina being herself and Focalors with such a clear distinction while maintaining clear similarities between the three to keep them technically a one person's voice, it's actually insane. And her portrayal of emotions is also spot on.
I saw a video in which the VA was saying she originally auditioned to be Eula back in the day and I am honestly so glad that she was originally turned down and ended up as Focalors instead. Eula is a great character but the VA's range would've been completely wasted had she been casted as Eula back in 2021 and we never would've known her true potential.
Amber Lee Connors easily became one fo my favorite VAs just from the amazing performance she did as Furina and Focalors.
glad we all recognise the EN VA's talent at bringing Furina's emotions to life, Amber Lee Connors's Furina is just so much more real.
Fr, Furina and Raiden's VA's (Amber Lee and Anne Yatco) are my favourite. They couple portray 3 different personalities naturally whilst still feeling distinct. Really epic casting.🙌

Furina is by far the most complex character in Genshin, she's very unexpected and this teaser made her even more mysterious than she already is, I can't even tell atp when she is acting and when is she being her normal self.

I might be very dumb, but I see this basically being like “If we start it, then we can stop it” 😅
That is the only way actually. Go back to 2.8 with the GAA event with Mona, she specifically states that once the future has been foretold it becomes immutable. If a person is fated to die on a specific day they will die on that day no matter what she or anyone does.
So this means the exact words of the prophecy will happen, Fontaine WILL flood, the people WILL dissolve, only the hydro archon WILL be left. Furina's true goal then is to find loopholes, twists and exceptions to the words of the prophecy so that when it does happen it will happen to the letter but not the spirit of the prophecy.
When I heard about the prophecy of Fontaine, I immediately think things will be similiar to Thor: Ragnarok.
Let the prophecy happen, but make sure it doesn't mean everything is lost.
What a dang interesting character. I'm continually impressed by the nuanced and original characters Genshin comes up with, buht Furina feels like a particularly special case here on the near eve of the primary finale to Fontaines story.
I feel all Archons have this special unique trait and I love it.

As a beginner in Genshin, I can say how well the writers designed Furina's characteristics and has the appearance of a princess with a melancholic yet cheerful story of her. It is sad to see how her life have been through as Archon but at the same time still a mystery in the"Masquerade of the Guilty" and her Teaser. Absolutely Love her character so much, Can't wait to get her!

This teaser sent chills down my spine. I feel so sad for Furina, at first I thought her to be an annoying brat but as the story progress and these trailers come out I feel nothing else but pity for her. She hides her burdens with a smile, and I understand all too well.

If the prophecy had already happened, and the current fontaine is just one giant recreated stage, then there's a huge power required to maintain that giant stage

I realized that in the beginning, there is TV static, and her eyes and hat are flipped because it's a recording she is inverted until she removes the lense that transition is so clean.

When she was first revealed I knew I would love her. I wanted to voice her but I knew that wouldn’t happen. Amber does an amazing job. Now she’s finally here. Hoyo exceeded my expectations for her.

OH MY GOD SHE'S HAMLET. AND SHE PLAYED HER PART SO WELL SHE DECEIVED ALL OF US.
I'm gonna elaborate because this has been driving me crazy and I need a place to put my scattered thoughts (this is partially based on hunches/theories so don't take it all super seriously).
The entire archon quest is based on the blurred line between performance and reality, which is a major theme in Hamlet, who feigns insanity to the point where we don't what's an act and what's not. The fontainians love their charismatic archon (who also seems to have a blurred line between persona and reality) and they absolutely eat up "plays" in the form of trials. But there's a larger performance at work where all of the major players; furina, neuvillette, arlecchino, lyney, wriothesley, etc; are all trying to out-deceive each other. Furina is dismissed as someone who doesn't know what she's doing, but in the end this is what she WANTS people to think. People think they know what's going on, that they're the one manipulating the situation to their advantage, but they have no idea that they're actually playing exactly how Furina wants. It's exactly like Hamlet! As neuvillette says in the 4.2 trailer, "you're a devious one, focalors". The best part is that she's not some smug manipulator behind a chess board. In fact, she's just a emotionally volatile as her persona makes her out to be, but this complexity is what makes her character so interesting, just like Hamlet. In the end, the two of them are so desperate to try to escape fate (in furina's case, the prophecy) but their lack of taking action is their downfall. The icing on the cake would be that the prophecy has to do with the previous archon and she's trying to amend the wrongs (bc this would be so similar to hamlet avenging his father's death), but ofc none of that is revealed yet.
I'm sure these parallels to Hamlet weren't intentional (I might not even be accurate in my analysis), but I'm so excited to see what hoyo has in store for us!

@@lum_berry111 Sort of? Irminsul more or less rewrote memories/the timeline so that things could be explained without the person who was deleted. It's not just people's memories, but also the physical memories of the world (since it's all connected via ley lines). If it only affected people's memories, then Nahida wouldn't have had to encode Wanderer's past identity into a storybook in order to remember him.
Now i can understand it... For furina the fate of Fontaine was real because she herself was a character on the stage, making her so afraid of everyone discovering who she was.... In the end, the director of the opera was foçalors and she was the only one who knew what would happen and that's why someone then tells the traveler to play her role on the stage... Idk
This is beautifully written, kind of makes you second guess the border line between a play and reality. It combines the two in a certain sense that's very well done.

Yeah, I remember lots of people hating her as soon as we set foot in Fontaine. Me, I was like, this is only one side of her, we need to see the other. We’ve gotten hints about this other side through 4.0 and 4.1, now in 4.2, we will see it all, the Truth if you will.

Inazuma showcased physical prowess in the archon quest, Sumeru on the other hand showed us the mental tricks in the archon quest but Fontaine is a freaking roller coaster of both

idk why but fontaine’s music really takes the cake with its story. like this particular song feels so gut-wrenchingly moving and emotional, while also having a devious undertone that you can’t quite shake. like something else can be heard amongst all the sounds. i think sumeru’s music did this well too, but it was a different feel entirely. sumeru’s music felt hopeful and lively, like a forest full of life, while fontaine’s music feels like a never-ending sea of waves that look pretty from afar, but they reveal themselves to be a huge tsunami once they start approaching.. idk man
I remember when Furina was just a very plain 2D concept art that came out as a leak back in January, but seeing her as she is now, Hoyoverse did a great job on character building for her.

I believe that when she says “Unless you can decieve fate itself” is that in the prophecy it states she herself will sit on her throwing with only herself and her tears. But in the 4.2 trailer it is heavily implied (or more said outright) she will die. So I think she is trying to prevent the prophecy by making part of it untrue.
Hmm maybe, I thought she was just pretending to be the Archon so when the prophecy occurs, she will be the only one to survive
