Thank you for your video. I had dismantled the assembly and eventually managed to find your video here to help me sort the clogged spindle and jammed bearings. Nice work 👍🏻
Thank you. Wife wanted to just buy a new brush head when it stopped working. I said "no, let me try fixing it first". Found your video. Working perfectly again. Cheers.
Thanks for a great video. I was afraid of breaking the drive spool but you showing that it could be pulled off was a terrific insight. Once it was off I was able to remove a bunch of wound up hair that would have choked a horse! Everything working fine now. Thanks!
Thank you , thank you, thank you! My Dyson stopped working today and I cleaned everything I could think of but the brush would still not spin. Your video was the only one that went this in depth and I followed exactly what you said, there it was, hair on the inside where it shouldn't be. I would have bought a $99 replacement from amazon or possibly a new vacuum. You saved me at least $100, thank you for doing your video.
This video was very helpful! I had suspected the motor was clogged, but was having a hard time figuring out how to take it apart. I found this video and by halfway through the video, found the problem, fixed it, and put it all back together.
I had a nest of hair exactly where you found it at 5:24 that was interrupting the drive. Thank you so much for making this, my machine runs good as new now!
Thanks for this vid. I managed to remove the corkscrew bit by simply using a flathead screwdriver and slowly leveraging it from different sides. Btw, I also popped off the ball bearing shield and removed nearly the same amount of hair. It's pretty easy to pop off. Just get a small flathead and pry it open.
Great video...mine had the same issue and your fix was the answer! I opted for silicon based lube for bearings hoping that that type would attract less dust.
Very helpful! Thanks. To echo some of the other comments, unscrew the belt housing to make removing the grey housing easier. Also regular needle-nose pliers work to get the drive gear off the shaft, just use steady pressure and some wiggling. I also had a small, plastic pry tool for disassembling electronics that proved really helpful in separating the stuck together parts.
OMG thank you so much you saved me $98 I was going to order a new motor head, but sure enough the damn thing was full of hair behind that gear! works like a charm, thank you so much!
Regular needle nosed pliers worked for me on the widest part of wheel. Other people have used an IC (Integrated Circuit) Puller but that is not normally a toolbox item for most of us. Lube was an excellent idea as well.
That's really creative what you did with those pliers! Imagine having a Flat long nose pliers like that! I cannot find a pliers like what you have done!
Wonderful instructions, now You just have to get enough nerve to disassemble. Mine is horribly dirty. Shuts off when using on carpet, works on bar floors. If push comes to shove I can always purchase another part. Thank you for sharing
Just did mine with a lot less taking apart if it helps - you only really have to get the bit that connects to the spinner roller off and get the dirt out. I found just taking off the front edge with the phillips screws was enough to give me access - two screws, the torx screw on the roller head and job done :)
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you! I found that if you remove the motor/belt assembly from the housing , you won't need to pry the clear cover off as you did at 2:12. Thanks again!
Peter G McDermott, Pls, I would appreciate if you can show me from the video where the motor/belt assembly is as I've been having difficulty trying to pry the clear cover off but no success! thanks 2-9-2023
Thanks! The plastic piece that you made special tool for came off with just a bit of extra effort using standard needle nose pliers with one leg in the hole the screw went in and the other on the outside of the plastic piece and a good amount of wiggling.
Thanks for that I may have found the problem with our DC35 and the lack of rotation on the roller brush. It seems to be getting that drive off, where you had the special tool. Yet again I will dismantle this brush head and see if it cures the problem.
zaq405 I tried this and the rotation has improved slightly but the rotation still stops now and then. Would the DC motor have any issues ie change in motor size....output not size of motor!! As I'm thinking that the motor may be the problem?? Any thoughts??
Bill Smith. It uses a DC motor, as such has carbon brushes. These brushes can wear from normal use. It comes down to how much use its had. Or you could try to pull it down further, remove the belt. Power it up without the belt to see if the motor stalls easily. You can try to stall the motor by touching the smaller pulley on the end of the motor.
fyi... when you did the test on the motor the black wire goes to the connection with the red dot. I noticed when you did the final connection before close up it was black wire to red dot connection (no big deal for test though but if left it would have changed motor rotation direction) ...and also thank you nicely done
You need to spray some contact cleaner in to the part between the wheels and the head unit as that is where the contacts are that have to rotate as your swivel the head and they get dirty. That fixed the intermittent running for my unit.
Thanks! Didn't take it fully apart like that though - just took the front bar off with the phillips screws, then removed the roller head bit, cleaned out the fluff and gave it a shot of wd40 (the can had a "precision" straw tapped to the side lol), job's a good'un! Thanks again
I got all the way to the step of needing a Torx 8, didn't have one. But, there was a big ol' hunk of lint around the sprocket that I was able to clean out. Motor head runs much better now. Thanks for saving me $90!
Thanks for the video. After doing everything, mine still didn't work, I believe the motor is shot. Do you know of where to get a replacement?? Thank you.
Vario heli screwdrivers? You shouldn’t add oil to stuff that collects dust and dirt. It just makes more abrasives stock and make it wear much faster. Lithium/PTFE grease would be much better for this. Also, unclip the grey bit from the clear bit at the beginning and will come apart easier
Mine intermittently stops spinning. Pulled it apart and put a voltage meter on the wires before the motor and voltage went on and off so it wasn't the motor. I think probably a damaged wire but after pulling the whole head apart I chucked it in the bin as I had the old one spare still.
Hi. Thank you for the video. I have a problem :at first when I did as you did, turbine was working again. But then it stopped again. I re opened like ten times to look what could block. And I am wondering whether it can be the belt or not. It seems to me it does scrape against the plastic fairing of the vacuum head. Any tips or idea about that? Every time I start to use it it works for like 2 mn then it blocks again. I open and I see the belt hase moved. Thanks a lot
Thank you for your video. I had dismantled the assembly and eventually managed to find your video here to help me sort the clogged spindle and jammed bearings. Nice work 👍🏻
Your video and expertise saved the day!!!
My motorized head is now working flawlessly.
Thanks very much!!!
Thanks very much! I am a 25 year old girl who has no idea what she is doing with tools and this helped me so much! Working vacuum now!
Thank you. Wife wanted to just buy a new brush head when it stopped working. I said "no, let me try fixing it first". Found your video. Working perfectly again. Cheers.

Very helpful! This was exactly what was wrong with ours and saved us $120 for a new head! Thank you!
I had a nest of hair exactly where you found it at 5:24 that was interrupting the drive. Thank you so much for making this, my machine runs good as new now!
just repaired my dc 35 and dc 44 with your help, thanks alot for video spot on.
Thank you so much! Removed matted hair from around the drive, saved me buying a new turbine head. Came apart exactly as you said!!
Perfect Video for my problem with my Dyson DC35. Very well done, thanks
Brilliant video - thank you! Fixed mine and it's running like new again. Really appreciate you uploading it.
Finally got my Dyson working now... THANK YOU!
me too! very helpful video

This was a real help thanks very much, saved £200 as I dont need to buy a new hoover!!
Thank you, do you have a video on replacing the wiring completely please
This video was so helpful! I fixed it and it works great now. Thanks!
Thanks a lot ! Today, on Valentine's day (and our wedding anniversary), me and my wife had a romantic And succesfull repair time moment !
Thank you very much for this very helpful video!!! Our Dyson works again....

This helped me, I used a teflon based bike chain dry lube, I forgot how good it worked before.
you just saved me the $160 cost for a new head! Thanks!!
Thanks so much for sharing, I can't believe I actually fixed it!!
Thanks! It was a very helpful video. Mine was fixed.
I didn't expect it to work, but it fixed the problem - thanks!
Thank so much for this video. I just fixed mine. I was about to buy a replacement. Save me so serious $$$

Thanks a lot for the video! I also confused with that tight part, and I was not brave enough to use a tool to take that out...
Same problem, and your fix worked!

Many thanks for this valuable information.
Good video, my Dyson is working again. Thanks mate

Thanks so much! I finally was able to take the piece off using your tip.

Bill Smith, it's on pretty tight. Good luck!

Robin R. Koykka. I better check the rotation. Thanks.
Thanks, my Dyson works perfect again!!!
Awesome. Cleaned out the hair and motorhead is working again!
Super helpful, thanks!
Thank you so much! It worked for me too.
thanks mate works a treat now.
Great video! I need to make that plier with the lip you got there. I see tons of my wife’s hair under that thing..
You need to spray some contact cleaner in to the part between the wheels and the head unit as that is where the contacts are that have to rotate as your swivel the head and they get dirty. That fixed the intermittent running for my unit.
Lindsay Black Hello. I just didn't understand your advice completely. I'd appreciate if you can explain in more detail please. Thank you so much.
Lindsay Black I cleaned the head thoroughly but it still stops intermittently. Your advice may help. Thanks again
Thanks!
Didn't take it fully apart like that though - just took the front bar off with the phillips screws, then removed the roller head bit, cleaned out the fluff and gave it a shot of wd40 (the can had a "precision" straw tapped to the side lol), job's a good'un! Thanks again

Thanks for the video. After doing everything, mine still didn't work, I believe the motor is shot. Do you know of where to get a replacement?? Thank you.
same with you. My motor seems to be shot. I want to know the spec or code of it, difficult to find it.
Perfect, this did the trick for me. Thanks :)
If you unscrew the belt housing first you can take off the grey housing easier without prying as it comes of together with the belt housing
Mine intermittently stops spinning. Pulled it apart and put a voltage meter on the wires before the motor and voltage went on and off so it wasn't the motor. I think probably a damaged wire but after pulling the whole head apart I chucked it in the bin as I had the old one spare still.
Neat little oiler

You motivated me to fix mine now! My dad broke it cos he slammed it onto the floor and the neck came loose and broke one of the wires :/
Wish me luck!
Tayyab's Room - Good luck and give me a holla if you get stuck.
Thanks I managed to fix it and I discovered the motor burnt out grr
I am going to buy the torx, thank you.
Thank you!!
Hi,
I did everything you said but my motor still isn't moving. Any suggestions please??
Yã- bóï çãm same! Did you fix yours in the end
Is there any saving one that was dropped in water? 😢
Thanks, just like everyone else here commenting, you saved me some decent coin!.
Took me a while because I didn’t have all the tools but I fixed it and it is working better than ever.👍
Thanks for the video. I was having the same problem. It's fixed now! For how long?... It's the question.
I used rust check 😊took out 3 plus feet of my hair lol and mine works again
You can do that without tearing all this appart ;)
