    Just before you start modifying your Dyson, our unit was running intermittent when my wife brought it to me and fiddling with it I was almost convinced that the switch or these connections described here was our problem as our DC35 has the filter micro switch. Our unit was more than 5 years old and originally it worked great, my wife loved it for a small lightweight vacuum, but this intermittent issue was frustrating her. What I found was this: I put the unit on the charger and checked it until the green light went out on the adapter. I then held the unit with the switch on and let it run (which is not how my wife would show it to me; the battery was already drained when she would show it to me). Charged, the unit ran for 2.5 minutes and shut off. I released the trigger switch and pressed it again and the unit ran for 1 minute, repeated and ran for 15 seconds, repeated and ran for 4 seconds, 4 seconds, 4 seconds, etc. and then would not turn on. I repeated the whole venture, the results were the same but now I noticed that when it shut off or just before (hard to tell by eye), the green light on the back top of the unit also went out. This caused me to suspect the battery and before I ventured into many of these suggested modifications (some destructive) on RUclips, we bought a replacement battery. We bought the Powerextra battery from Amazon (Powerextra 22.2V 3000mAh Replacement Battery for Dyson DC31 DC34 DC35 DC44) and it fixed the issue and made my wife even happier because the Dyson now runs for more than 30 minutes on one charge where even new it only ran for 10-15 minutes. This is probably due to the original battery only being 1300 mAh and the replacement unit is 3000 mAh! I apologize for the length explanation but I am a Millwright by trade and my instinct is not to modify something unless it is absolutely warranted and in our case the best fix was a battery replacement resulting in a better running unit!

      How did the battery work out for you? I bought a replacement battery, but it died after only 2 years. Is yours still working well?

    Can you advise on how to fix handheld dysons stopping and starting?

    Ha, funny that I looked at the same busbar solder on the motor wires on my unit, the solder itself seems high temp but the varnish wasn't fully scraped off the wires...added more solder & flux and scraped a little with the solder tip, working now ! Plastic cover is very hard to get off...and back on

    Should have showed how you actually fixed it instead of just talking about it.

    My Dyson dc35 is working for about 8 seconds and cuts out. The noise it makes is unusual and think I've over charged it if that's even possible. It's out of warranty. What would you suggest I try to fix it?

    This was very much NOT helpful since you explicitly did not show the actual repair! I opened the case but then was not able to do much since you neither showed how things can be taken apart inside (removing the motor controller was a bit of a hassle) nor did you show what you actually did to the motor controller :-(
    My motor controller PCB did not have any obvious defects so I had to throw the Dyson into the trash. What actually caused the "Blinks and clicks but does not start the motor" error is therefor still unclear to me.

    So would it be too much to ask you exactly how did you fix the problem? I mean, that is why we came to your video.

    So useless .... zero help, the video was stopped at the most crucial moment. Wish i could've actually seen where you fixed it ??.

    IMPORTANT -> There is a small pressure switch on the motor unit so it knows if there is a filter pad fitted.
    Without this switch signal THE UNIT WILL NOT RUN.
    Sorry for SHOUTING but there are a lot of people having problems with their vacuums and this will be a common problem.

    Which parts did you resolder?

    • @RoeeBloch
      @RoeeBloch  6 лет назад +4

      I don't remember, there were few parts with cold soldering, you will be able to see them under magnifing glass, watch carefully - as they are not fully unsolder, you will notice just small cracks on the soldering, usually the parts that are more heavy do these cracks

      Roee Bloch, cheers for getting back, this is the only video that shows the same symptoms as mine (trigger pressed, solid green lights, no motor). Dyson says it's my battery but its outputting 24v just fine. I can't see any solder defects, but I'll have another look. Thank you
