We had some, the best I can describe it is gunk, in the receptacle. So tried to do the smart thing and clean it out in the sink. I think I got some water in the circuit/battery area. This video saved me from having to get another one as I disassembled then used a hair dryer on warm for a minute or so. Had a couple of drops come out that would’ve never happened without your video. Reassembled and it works great. So had a slightly different problem but your video was great. Thank you!
Just saved us a huge hassle trying to return ours after i already threw away the box 😅 it was a cross threaded screw… disappointed that it passed through quality control like that… Thank you so much for the video!
Brilliant - saved me having to bother with getting it shipped for repair. Hope I won't have to do it again in a few months though! Thanks for the guide.
Can you tell me what’s those wire function, I already sent to Dyson and repaired, so the motor Dyson says broken is at my home, I want to test it,because I think it isn’t broken,I know the power pin,but I do not know what’s the red and white wire, I need a teacher!
Thanks for posting this. My Dyson is only 3 months old. It charges and we followed everything in this video and it still wont work when pulling the trigger..
If it is within the warranty period, it should be sent to service so that it can be repaired free of charge. The solution presented in this video is only valid for this defect. More than likely you have another problem that requires a more detailed check.
Hi, Thanks for the video. My V8 has no power as well. The blue light on my V8 flashes "abnormally fast" regardless being charged or not. I followed your instruction but nothing changes and the connection is clean. I also checked the filter and other parts, but they seem to be all fine. Should I change the battery?
Hi, is the battery charging normally? Normally, all 3 LEDs turn off when the battery is fully charged. When you say that the blue LED blinks "abnormally fast", which of the LEDs are you referring to? The battery should have 3 LEDs. If the first LED flashes, this means that the battery is discharged. Try to test the vacuum cleaner with the power level selector on the first position (not MAX).
@@techfixPOV Thanks for the comments. It is the first one that flashes and the battery is not charged. Maybe this means that I need to change the battery...
I just got one of these (free from a neighbor) and it works fine in normal mode but when I switch to Max Suction mode, it stays in normal and there is no increase in suction. What might the problem be and do you think it's worth trying to fix or just leave it alone and use it in normal mode?
When you move the slider from normal mode to MAX, you actually move a small magnet that activates a hall sensor inside the main body. I think you should check the hall sensor, maybe is not in place or is not properly connected to the PCB.
Still the blue lights. So it's not the switch, since the blue lights come on when pressed. The battery was fine prior to "the water incident" where a certain someone sucked up a bit. Is there a sensor that could be damaged?
Maybe the water got inside the vacuum cleaner and affected the electronic board or the motor. If you could dismantle it completely, you could create a better image.
It works like dolphins, it uses echolocation to find dirt :)) Just kidding, I don't know what clicking you're referring to. Can you send me a video to the email address TechFixPOVinfo@gmail.com ?
I also have the same problem. The Dyson suddenly stops working, even when the battery is fully charged. When I take the battery out and put it back in, it works again.
Not my issue the vacuum motor works fine it wont power the motorized attachments ever for more than a second or two they all work on other identical V8 and it is not dirty connection was hoping to find a fix....might be the whole board needs replacement not worth it i imagine
I have a faulty Dyson V8 vacuum cleaner with a similar problem. I hope that in the following days I will have time for him. I will try to make a video with the diagnosis and repair process. I hope it will be useful to you.
Yes, clearly someone ran out of battery in the electric screwdriver. Now the explanation closer to reality: I suspect that the screw entered the terminal on the board crookedly and the torque limit set on the screwdriver was reached, so the technician moved on to the next screw, without noticing that the screw is not mounted correctly. Due to the high current, the terminal on the wire was welded to the terminal on the board (or to the screw) and it worked like that for a while until, due to vibrations, the wire came off and could not be welded back due to the accumulated oxide on the terminals.
Thank you for helping me fixing my Dyson , now is sucking like a dream !
I'm glad that is sucking good again :))

I just picked up one from the store the other day, pulled it out the box, charged it and no power! Isn’t this a warranty problem?
Worked for me as well - thank you - stopped working after a few months now good to go
Glad it helped

I lost the screws shown in this video. Where can I get them?
If you mean the battery fixing screws, you can find them on AliExpress for $1/ 3 pcs

Fixed it straight away thanks mate
Glad it helped!
why do you have to take the battery off?
because it would be better not to accidentally create a short circuit
What’s with the clicking sounds?

excellent job - well done

Give me a corded vacuum cleaner any day.
How the heck is this an "easy fix"??????!?!?
It may not seem like it, but it really is a very simple defect to repair. There are much more complicated situations when repair is almost impossible.
@@techfixPOV I guess.
This is an easy fix. Have you never cleaned your car battery terminals in your car engine bay?? It’s the same idea
This is a repair video, not a porn video. No need for the music!
Thank you for your valuable opinion.
Ordered a brand new one from Amazon and has the same problem. Going back soon I’m not messing around with it.
I hope you have received a functional new one by now.
@@techfixPOV purchased a shark. Works like a breeze.
