I didn’t want to take these meds due to the side effects but had zero choice. While struggling with this deadly disease I was put out of work and the process took me broke and ran through my savings. I paid all I could pay out of pocket and have been in debt for years. It’s sad to know that these companies take care of shareholders and themselves more then the patients struggling to survive if they’re lucky. This should be borderline criminal and our elected officials have been allowing it. This needs to stop. Congrats to her, she did her homework and maybe this gets the attention that’s needed to create a change. Big Pharma is preying on us all like cattle.
So a common defense from pharma companies for stories like this is that if a patient does not have insurance the company will provide the drugs for free. Was that an option for you? Or did you have health insurance but you had to pay an astronomical price anyways?

(This is well documented, so you can easily fact check me if you'd like.) We don't only need universal healthcare, but we need costs to be reined in significantly.

I live in Canada , I'm both Canadian and American Citizen, We love our health care up here.... it's FREE and our drug prices for everything is incredibly cheap.
We have strict laws big Pharma can NOT solicit or compensate any doctors or politicians in any way. Not even a free cup of coffee.
We need HUGE changes for in the United States , I like Kate Porters questions....

Katie Porter may represent her district in California... but she sure as hell works for all the people in the United States. She is the litmus test example for any member of the House of Representatives. When you're in the witness chair and Katie gets out her whiteboard... you might as well book your appointment with the undertaker. Things are not going to go well for you.
NOTE: Ms. Porter is an attorney by degree, so part of what she does is ask questions she already knows the answers to due to her thorough research. When you lie as a witness before Congress, you had better get ready for some incoming rounds.
It hurts that our state can't have a Katie Porter. I believe every state should have at least one and maybe then we'd get a representative government, it oughta be a law!
