5:25 "This is the pass for the lead going into turn 1" *Cuts away before they even reach turn one*
Tuff Ed Boi did the same thing at 4:11
@@GabeClendenning they had one job smh.
The mazda was clearly blocking up the hill to the blind left hander on the penultimate lap. Blocking gave him the win, that Acura was coming up that hill way faster than the Mazda.
I guess its forgivable for how much the Acrua's were blocking all race.
@@Cozmozmoz It was blocking, but he could also argue the last block to the right was to get back into the racing line.
@@Cozmozmoz Yeah, that's it!
The move to the left was allowed, but it was a little late.
The move back to the right was to get back to the racing line, it's a bit of a grey area but it's technically allowed.
@@seanrenon4211 I know what i saw, the mazda knew he was blocking.
Team Joest finally comes good. 👍 that was very dirty blocking on last lap though. :p
Not as bad as the cheat master Montoya! Left, right, left, right, left, right, left...
This was the best imsa race I’ve been to! Maybe a hint imsa should keep the current setup the same for once instead of switching it around
Looks like Helio gave Montoya some pointers on blocking.
True. Just never seen him be quite so blatant about it. Helio doesn't even try to hide it. @@PeterKKraus
HE DOES IT IN BATHURST. HE DOES IN ROAD AMERICA. MATT CAMPELL COME VICTORIOUS IN AMERICA WHAT A DELIGHTFUL FINISH.
Whoa I First Time To Watch This Highlights It Was Crazy 3x Off The Track
Man I miss this place can’t wait to go back
Amazing race in all classes! Road America is a superb track, so exciting speeds and turns for steel-ballers
This race was AMAZING in person! RA is such a great track
It was beautiful! That was the first road race I ever attended. Unforgettable
TICKNELL / CAMERON shoulda had a NASCAR fist-fight.
Wow IMSA racing is really good. Can someone explain the classes to me?
DPi (Daytona Prototype International) is the top class. It is for LMP2 cars modified by manufacturers. Manufacturers can run their own engines, suspension and bodykit.
LMP2 (Le Mans Prototype 2) is the second class. Each crust have at least 1 amateur driver, and the cars are all built by constructors who are licensed to do so. Ligier, ORECA, Dallara and Riley all have LMP2 cars, but only ORECAs compete in IMSA.
GTLM (Grand Touring Le Mans) is the quickest GT class. The cars are all ran with factory support, although occasionally a privateer makes a one off entry. The cars are in LMGTE spec.
GTD (Grand Touring Daytona) is a GT class which runs to FIA GT3 spec. Factory teams are banned and each car must have at least 1 amateur driver.
The Prototype classes are pure race cars, whilst the GT classes comprise of heavily modified road cars.
SRA SmokingPuppy841 Thanks dawg
@PewDiePieRules 2.0 LMP2 are more race designed than DPi, they just have less power.
@PewDiePieRules 2.0 not particularly, it is the class with the most room to grow. And you only need 2 cars to make a race.
PewDiePieRules 2.0 thanks man
Was at the race. So much fun to be at!
Man awesome racing! Awesome!!
Congratulations to Team Joest and Mazda! Great win.
Good race!
What a race!
Would have been nice to see why the #7 got almost a lap down. Great race.
NBC, please use a current picture for this video.
You guys didn't show the 911 getting into the back of the CAT NSX in turn 11! I was sitting right there! Tore the entire front end off the 911 and spun the Acura out off track.
At least the Mazda got back at the dirty blocker. Feels good
I was there
Mazda blocked at the end as well.
GO TEAM JOEST!
Por que no termino montoya ome
Would've loved to actually watch but it wasn't on TV
What happend to the Second penske?
Picked up a piece of debris after a multi-car GTD incident, and had to pit to have it removed.
I'm new to this but at the begging when they behind what it seems like a Corvette with police light why do they sway side to side.
thats to warm up the tyres
I like the IMSA commentary better
It's so sad to Mazda leave
go FORD !!!
Good to see Juan Montoya has learned some racing manners.... Oh wait nvm...,
Mr. B so what did he do to make your butt hurt??
@@mrlondono not butthurt, or shocked by any means, he is just a poor sport and blocks way too much, no matter what he drives.
I'm surprised they allow that much blocking. I love to see close racing but don't like seeing someone nearly forcing a wreck to keep their position...
The LMP2 only 2 cars ? Why?
With the class split between the DPis and LMP2s announced last year, and implemented this year, teams that want to try and go for a shot at overall wins jumped over to using DPis for just that.
Need more GTLM cars, what happen to the Ferrari that drove in the class?
The amount of blocking across the board is pretty gross.
Kind of weird seeing only two lmp2 cars
They've usually only had one this year (the 52 car).
On 12:45 is that man asleep? lol
I would be.
Yes He Is!
soo that double block move at 9:45 wasnt illegal ????
It was as legal as Montoya's moves in the Penske earlier in the race, which is probably why he got away with it.
IMSA gives one warning per race per driver or car, I can't quite remember. The double block move brought on that warning. If he pulled it again he would've been penalised.
What is this? The race length is 2 hours & 40 minutes? Why not three? Back in the day, the shortest endurance race was 4 hours(under FIA). Is this what passes for an 'endurance' race these days? Not good. Liked the video & Road America is the best road course in North America. I know the 'neighbors' don't like the noise but RA was there long before they were...so too bad!!
DP faster here than Indycar...?
where did cady go?
Same as always, Chevy power gets nerfed. Least they started good, Corvettes are uncompetitive the entire year. Funny we can balance the Caddy/Mazda/Acura to complete role reversal but can't balance GTLM. Same endurance politics as always
They need a BoP improvement, probably the slowest DPi. And their engine is by far the most restricted.
Why does Acura and Mazda not compete in Le Man's ?
Indeed
Ik this is 3 years late but, supposedly the dpi class was supposed to complete at Le Mans but I guess the 2 sanctioned bodies couldn’t make their minds up on the decision so they kept the dpi’s in America. If I’m wrong someone correct me
@@Armageddon991 thanks Mate 😂
Savage block by Tincknell.
Should have been penalized.
He made one defensive move and Cameron was not alongside him at all. Clean move.
If JPM was not worthy of a penalty for blocking then Ticknell's move was just as fine.
@@pauldarling6505 JPM needed way more than a warning.
IMSA allows one warning per race. Tincknell got his one warning for that move. Montoya pulled the same crap earlier in the race.
Winner should got penalty for blocking after he went off wide on last lap was about 3 reactive defense move
he was blocking yes, but if they didnt penalize the penskes for blocking earlier in the race when it wasnt even for the lead, i cant see it being fair to penalize the mazda when blocking for the win on the last lap.
The Mazda moves at the end were Very dirty. You can't compare with penskes moves at the biggining.
@@leonardoaraujo8364 You can 100%, Montoya was given a warning and that would have been Ticknell's only warning.
@@leonardoaraujo8364 Yes you can. IMSA officiating isn't like the FIA's. The Mazda got it's one warning per race as did the Acura. Blocking is blocking, regardless of which position they're fighting for.
Tincknell definitely did multiple defensive moves to avoid being passed, then damaged Cameron's car. Is that even legal in IMSA? It looks more like NASCAR. He should get a time penalty, and would if this was F1.
He did one move which is allowed, the second move is more the issue, but it counted as his one warning for the race. That's why Montoya got away with what he did earlier on then couldn't because he received his warning. Cameron hitting the back of ticknell is his own fault
@@Mangiameli48 IDK that move was dirty, to blame the contact on Cameron is a little far fetched . Tincknell went wide and cut the entire width of the track...
2:32
“we’re gonna keep an eye on it.”
on what? his butt hole?
gets warned for blocking safely, mazda blocks and makes contact..... hmmm right
That blocking move counted as their one warning per race.
I don't the rules of this series but the Mazda driver moved several times to block the Acura. I thought you were only allowed one defensive move. If that's the case, Mazda should be penalized.
Can't understand why they aren't allowed to block. That's part of racing. I understand giving someone room if they already have a nose in on you in a corner, but if they haven't made it to you yet you should be able to block. Let them race.
There has to be a limit. While I agree that the blocking on this races final lap was fine since it was one defensive move, if you allow constant blocking there will be constant dangerous moves that will most likely cause crashes. The more crashes, the more safety cars, for more injuries, the less enjoyable in my opinion. Dont get me wrong, block IS a part of racing, but with a limit.
@@FrontlineChief the move at the end is where I would draw the line. He ran off track, the other guy had a nose up on him, he straight up cut him off. That isn't blocking, that's poor character. But just normal blocking like earlier in the video is absolutely fine. Why penalize someone who is fast as can make their car wide?
You'r talking about the earlier block when the Acura blocked the Mazda right?
@@FrontlineChief yes, the one where they were talking about warning him for blocking
Yeah I agree that the block didn't seem like it was a dangerous move. I feel like they were required to give a warning because rules are rules, and while this situation wasn't dangerous, if he wasn't warned, he most likely would have kept blocking, and possible forcing a dangerous situation. Montoya has a track record (literally) of being incredibly scary to pass, and since it was 2 corners in a row, you can tell he would rather use his cars body to race rather then his actually driving. Like i said, just my opinion. I love clean racing, and I think a blocking limit helps enforce that. Of course they get it wrong as well!
I'll be honest Ford has completely lost my interest with the moves they've made.
Last year for the GT anyway isnt it?
