I've been golfing for 50 years. After watching this vid I finally am able to take a divot after the ball. I play wel have have several par rounds but always fought with frequent thin irons.
You manage, again and again, to simplify and explain stuff in the golf-swing in a very easy to understand way. Highly appreciate your clips here on the channel. Played the game since early 80s and I’m still learning and believe it’s possible to become a better golfer. It’s a pity that we didn’t have RUclips and cameras back in the days though. 😃
Russel, you have a uniquely brilliant way of going about your hypothesis. Even if some of it is there in one's mind, you still end up appealing to ait through the VD. Most importantly, pocket some takeaways in the process. Keep it going, my friend.
In Harvey Penick’s Little Red Book 📕 he opens with ‘Golf Medicine’ - he says - ‘when I ask you to take an aspirin please don’t take the whole bottle. In the golf swing a tiny change can make huge difference. The natural inclination is to over do the tiny change that has brought success, so you exaggerate in an effort to improve even more and soon you are lost and confused again. Lessons are not to take the place of practice but to make the practice worthwhile.’ That’s just what happened here - resistance in the backswing was highlighted as an area to focus on to stop my over-swing and I totally over did it 🤦♀️. Back on track now 😊. Thanks Russ.
Thanks, fantastic video and is exactly what I'm trying to get right at the moment. The way I see it if you don't get the back swing right you have no hope of getting in the right position to commence the down swing and you end up fighting your body to firstly make the contact you want and secondly follow through correctly.
I love how you address the fundamentals of the swing in these videos. I've been playing for about 10-years and still have questions about some of these relatively simple concepts. These videos are really helping me to better understand what I might be doing well and where I might be a little off base. Thank you!
An amazing video lesson as usual. You have an ability to simplify every aspect of the golf swing. I've made quite the improvement since I've been watching your videos. I'm lucky enough to have a cage to practice in and after every video I head into the cage and work on what your video is teaching. Thanks for all that you do for us.
As an over the top swinger trying to work toward an inside out swing I really appreciate this video. I am wondering, having been fitted for my clubs with my over the top swing will my lie angle be wrong if I perfect an inside to out swing?
Another fabulous video lesson Russell. You’ve helped me considerably the last few months. This video prompts the question as it relates to the left hip. I’m keenly aware of how my left heel seems to set on my way back to the top in the backswing and on the way down I’ll consciously pull the left hip back. So it’s essentially two moves- a lateral bump toward the target and then pulling the hips back and out of the way to trigger my downswing. But it’s not as consistent as I’d like, so do you recommend that the bump and pulling hip back be combined into one move where I consciously bump laterally and pull the left my left hip back? Thank you!
@@russellheritagegolf Thank you Russell; and is this move executed simultaneous with the start if the downswing or does this move effectively INITIATE the downswing, in your opinion? So many different schools of thought. 🙏🏻
In terms of keeping the trail hip back do you recommend focusing on keeping weight on your trail heel, just for a millisecond or two as the downswing is initiated ??
See Fred Schumacher, who wrote Extraordinary Golf, where he describes how he discovered the similarities between the action required to throw a club forward and the correct moves in a good golf swing.
Actually you have the sequence of the step drill demonstrated incorrectly. The backswing takeaway and the step forward do not happen “simultaneously”. The takeaway, then the step forward.
@@michaelenright1089 Like all PGA instructors you seem to think older people can even turn 3/4. Bio mechanically as you age you cannot do that. So then you say well get your arms up quicker and steeper. Simply put the conventional swing as taught by the PGA is OK for seniors if you have kept subtle. but other than that its my experience that the conventional swing is not body friendly or indeed viable for most amateur golfers.
I agree many golfers will have limited flexibility for sure. Every golfer I work with who has limited mobility works to their capacity. They still endeavour for a sound technical swing. A good example for this video may be to flare the foot outwards to help rotation.

Good stuff. This motion is exactly what I’m currently attempting to duplicate. Thanks for sharing this detailed explanation.

How much better does Lynn's swing look from we first saw her on your channel. Great work from you both.
Great detail explanations as usual. Very good.
Great vid... the one I've been needing... and waiting for.
Great lesson! Excellent description and visuals. Very helpful drill to practice. Thanks.
Lead leg pelvis movement..will it not come in the way of the follow through..and what about the trail knee bending inward/forward
Definitely to date one of your Best videos Russel ,simplified to a laiman like me ,Thank fella
👍🏻
Played in the medal competition of the season Won by 4 shot ,just by thinking about staying down on the ball ,down to 6.0 dead now?So Happy cheers RG

Also, thank you for the great content. Wish I lived close enough for personal lessons.
Unlikely to change that much in truth. This can always be amended if needed

Yes this needs to be a simultaneous movement

A slight tilt might be of assistance here also.
Thanks
Well done Russell 👏
Great video Russell! Thks

I think it could help
See Fred Schumacher, who wrote Extraordinary Golf, where he describes how he discovered the similarities between the action required to throw a club forward and the correct moves in a good golf swing.
How did you come up with that statistic?.
Top! Thx, man!
On par 3 where is the ball pos?
OK, every time I try to use this squating motion I dig in some 6 to 8 inches behind the ball. Doesn't work for me.
Sounds like you need to move more left
@@russellheritagegolf I will give that a try. Thanks so much for your reply.
So subtle in the move, I’m like the girl, not screwing my trailing leg into the ground then squatting into the downswing
Where is my weight supposed to be in my backswing?
Right heel area
Actually you have the sequence of the step drill demonstrated incorrectly. The backswing takeaway and the step forward do not happen “simultaneously”. The takeaway, then the step forward.
Tiger, Arnie, n Jack are part of the 1% that do it correctly
OK for those with flexibility and the youngsters -
My thoughts exactly. Great tips for young hips!
