Nice collection Scoobz & the size of the shrimp was sick 😂 I was reading about the Dolphin fish very hard to sex but they do uproot plants with boredom & they love playing with toys, one chap who kept them had moss balls they used to love bouncing around the tank.
Hey Scoobz, you gotta check temps for the Channa bleheri. 24*c is about the highest they do well on longterm. They need about 3 months of winter rest with temperatures around 18*c yearly. Same goes for andrao. Probably the reason it passed away. In this case I gotta say that snakeheads are not really suited for community tanks. They do a lot better in species only tanks. And are best kept in groups of 5 until a pair forms after the first winter rest. Also nutrition and food is an important part for them as they do best with some insects mixed in. Look a bit into it, so it won’t go like the andrao All the best my friend!
@@MotionNA ahh thank you for clarifying! I’m gonna have to look into what temperatures the other fish can handle and see if I can find a middle ground for the winter. 22 or 20C? What do you think? Thank you again for letting me know!
@ I keep Channa asiatica „Star Galaxy“ they are having 24,5*c during summer and 18 during winter for 2-3 months. My adult pair is preferring 14,5*c during winter rest. They show the best color during that time. Winter rest is something that subtropical Channa really need. Just like almost every dwarf Channa. Belehri and Andrao are the same. 24*c max during summer and about 18*c for winter rest is what I’d recommend. Tank doesn’t have to be that big. Low current and floating plants like „fluitans“, they like floating cork tunnels too. I really recommend you to keep them alone without any other tankmates. Maybe with 3-4 additional specimens. After your first winter rest you can expect to get a pair. If a pair forms it’s most likely that they will start to be aggressive towards the other Channa‘s. They also have a lot of offspring. I love them too and I am someone that likes to try out community tanks with many tipes of fish, but subtropical Channa really don’t do well in them for long.
@ Ahh I see, thank you for making me aware! I’ll start planning out what to do. I might get a small tank for the channa for the winter period. If not I might have to think about rehoming him unfortunately.
@ScoobzNPetz great ,they can't be in the aquarium in pairs ,I found that out the hard way one per tank ,and I've got a whale nose fish and they can not be in an aquarium with the same species they will fight , all other fish are ok 👍 😀
Hey Scoobz, great video and does the snakehead have to live in a planted tank and can they live with American cichlids? Like, convicts, Dempseys or a red devil?
@@spiritking5625 Thank you! They live in heavily planted areas in the wild so having plants mimics their natural environment which would make them feel much more comfortable. You could try but there’s a chance your Channa would get stressed and won’t display their colours. In regards of keeping them with cichlids I’m not sure. I’ve never kept cichlids before so I have no experience in that area unfortunately. From what I know, cichlids can be territorial and that could cause a problem with the snakehead
