    Years and years I trained and wondered why would you do IT and be în a perpetua state of fatique, soreness, aches and pains.
    Switching to slow hit made it clear that i trăind wrong. This is refreshing. You feel always good and fresh. My back pains are gone

    At about 17 min into this video, Dr. McGuff explains recovery time. I will add that you are better off to wait longer than performing your next training session to early. This type of training will hold on to your strength level longer than other so-called exercising.

    Hi guys..as a former professional athlete I was pretty skeptical but..something incredible happened...I tried to train applying the basic of the protocol and I feel stronger but above the one result I got that can not be a kind biased opinion the gradual reduction of joint inflammation!!..I am going definitely stick to this method!!!..thanks for the video!!!

    Also easy on the joints, especially as you age. The young dudes in the gym banging out reps like crazies are fukin up their bodies.

    Noobs, please understand there is a difference between HIIT(high intensity interval training) and HIT(high intensity training). The first is a type of cardio. THIS is about HIT, the weight training approach that started with Arthur Jones in the 70s and has been adjusted and altered by several over time. Stop getting the terms confused.

      @@awesomesauce3110 you didn't read the title? It's confused af. This is not HIIT like the title says, it's HIT. What Doug is talking about ,HIT,was around long before HIIT was even a term. It is not interval training.

      Agreed, the host really knows very little about Dr. McGuff NOT McGruff the crime dog and his protocol as described in the book and many videos without confused hosts. HIT is NOT HIIT though the host doesn't seem to understand that. @joshuacanipe nailed it 1 year ago yet the title still is incorrect. High intensity interval training as stated in the title is cardio. Dr. Doug's HIT is resistance training.

    How to incorporate this kind of training with track workout? Let say I train 2 per week on track..sprint, plyo. Thanx

    Is it reasonable to do a Sprint workout of 3 or 4 sprints 20 seconds each, right after a HIIT workout? Twice a week, or 3 times a week? I'm new at this, about a week beginning slowly. And should I start with the legs because that supposedly generates a stronger testosterone boost?

    You really should edit the title it's NOT "High-Intensity Interval Training",. Dr. McGuff refers to it as "High-Intensity StrengthTraining".

    I assume we all realize we have a limited potential , say bench 295 x1 @ 175 ( random feasible/possible #s ) how do you train after that ..... do you continue or add volume

      I would say almost 300 at a body weight of 175 is outstanding. Do you realize how many men can't come close to 200 in their lifetime?

      @@todbeard8118 200 and cant close wow that weak. @175 try 3 sets of 20 or one set of 36. Once you can do 36 reps in one set bump up the weight. Just an idea. Cadence is repping with the breath. Breath is normal. Observe your breathe while you seat. It should be slow.

    You keep calling his approach interval training. It is not and McGuff doesn't say it is.

    what i don't like about it is that what i seen about it now that's it's not functional.all machine to balanced by the machine not using your core no compound.or am i incorrect ?

      Nico Rydlakowski From my personal experience, the method of full concentrated and conscious contraction of the active and antagonistic muscle groups on both sides of the motion (the exercises prescribed are compound) increases stability and flexibility. It did for me, and this is coming from someone with Cerebral Palsy.

      glad it helps you,i don't wanne argue that it's not a good trainingmethod shure time under tension is most effective in buiding muscle and gonne give jointstability i prefere to train i where i put my body in unstable positions so my core has to work a lot,like a schoulder press on my knees with one dumble in one hand and than the other side or a farmers walk with to weightplates of differend weight so my core has to constantly adjust for the imbalance like building fuctional strenght.if i go grocery shopping it's the chances that to bags that i carrie gonne be of the same weight.but again glad it helps you be blessed.sorry for the bad english i live in Belgium.

      If you want to work out your core you can do additional exercise targeted at your core besides this slow interval training. Why are you thinking it has to be one or the other?

      You’d think the interviewer would have researched Dr. McGuff’s work enough before the interview to at least get his name right,but Doug took it well. Loved the practical questions asked, though.

      If you were ever fortunate enough to have Dr. McGuff put you through his type of training routine and did exactly what he told you to do, you'd be laying on the ground when you're done. I know because I've trained with him before and it happened to me. I assume you're young and in relatively good shape and the level of intensity he'd put you through in a session would kick your ass.
      There's a big difference in what you or I could handle with the intensity factor than your 40- 60 yr old average trainee. McGuff wouldn't kick their asses in a training session likes he knows he could get away with kicking ours.
      He would give them a challenging workout for their individual levels of conditioning.
      But again, knowing what he could get away with when he knows someone is used to intensity, he'd have a grin on his face the whole time he was putting you through a session after the shit you talk.

      I think u misunderstand, i am a big fan of doug mcguff's work and a believer in slow high intensity interval training. I just thought it was a funny acronym, it was not intended to be an insult.

      sum gt Oh well.. You set me straight. Anyone reading this will know you're a fan of his Do you use Dr. McGuff's training style? I like it because of the intensity factor along it's safety factor. I'm too old to be using extremely heavy weights. But I can still make exceptional gains training intensely.
