I think out of the trio, Nanachi suffered the most because she lost her treasure not once bout twice throughout their adventure, but in the end, while not be a replacement but riko, and reg manage to be a remedy and the reason for her to keep on going.
Its funny that Akihito (creator of Made in Abyss) was originally going to make them have feelings for eachother but for some unknown reason he change them to being friends instead.
Looking back, I really hate this series because I love it so much. It's everything, it made me laugh, cry, and root for. I feel the story as I feel the pain and sadness! I don't know how many times I felt thrilled!

Reg is _right there_ being the absolute best (and cutest) character but all anyone ever says is "Nanachi Nanachi Nanachi". Kind of makes me dislike Nanachi, honestly.
