NEW MERCH CLICK HERE: teespring.com/en-GB/stores/md-fish-tanks After just over a month of having the golden nugget pleco....my plants are trashed 🤣. I'm pretty sure it is just this pleco as there were no problems with the plants in the amazon tank until i put this fish in. Hopefully things will sort themselves out. o I really like the little nugget but i never see it. Hey MD thit you ever thout about an dwarf crawfish for the shrimp reck? Its an great animal that looks like an amano shrimp but orange or other colors.
I am in the states. I have had aquariums my whole life. I got big into it and got busy with life and kind of put it on the back burner for a while. After seeing your videos and the way you explain things, i have reworked and am in the process of getting everything back to what it was and better. You have reawakened my love for aquariums. Thank you sooooo much!!!!!!
MD, your Golden Nugget (Baryancistrus xanthellus) is endemic to the Rio Xingú river system in Brazil where it lives in rapids between rocks and boulders. There are no plants in their habitat, only scattered driftwood and overall temperatures are pretty high, up to 30°C. It feeds from algea and small invertebrates and crustaceans that live on the rocks. The water flows really fast. Most of the tetras and dwarf cichlids in your Amazon tank live in jungle streams and lakes (Igarapés) with lots of shade from floating plants and overhanging jungle vegetation. Also lots of driftwood and leaves in the water and sometimes submerged plants if there is enough light. Both Amazon biotopes but very different habitats. The Amazon is vast! ;) To make your nuggy super happy, I would put a flow pump in the tank, up the temp a few degrees if possible and feed it also some bloodworms, artemia or likewise because the fish is omnivorous. And it will grow big for sure. Only recently stumbled over your chanel by the way. Great work and you’re a very talented aquascaper! Keep up the good work!
I’m impressed you were able to net that pleco in that tank. Great job with the new scape. It could be a good tank for a betta fish to go with the pleco
Got one of these Beauties about 12 months ago at a reasonable price as a Stand out Pleco. And Wow like you said He/She is gorgeous. It’s grown a little but not a great deal at only about 4 inches. Master of my South American cichlid tank.
MD, I’ve never kept a Gold Nugget pleco, but the Bristle Nose, and Dwarf Gold Spot plecos I do keep are not plant eaters. Now the Ramshorn snails in my tanks are another story, they turn planted tanks into an all you can eat salad bar and trash all my plants. I’m in the process of “removing” them all now, let’s just say I have a friend with a happy puffer fish, and I have a dozen Assassin snails that are hunting down the elusive remainder. Oh,… TIMMMAAAAYYY!!!!
Bought a very nice snowball pleco yesterday. But oh boy he’s uprooting all my plants and mixing up my sand and aqua soil. So here I am now planning on using my spare 10 gallon for him 😀
I am so happy I found your channel. Just beautiful ❣️❣️ I really want your fish room but smaller, with 3 tanks! And all your rock and wood. Thanks for sharing such beauty!!
From what I have learned on aquarium coop the pleco is more likely to eat soft fiber plants like econodoris and Alternanthera type plants. Thank you for all the inspiration and information that you provide on your channel!!!
Nice scape MD! I like the cave you created with the wood! I know the joys of a pleco tearing up your scape! My bristle nose doesn’t like when I put plants around his driftwood! I’ve had to glue all my anubius down cause he doesn’t let it root to the wood! Always knocking them off! That’s a beautiful pleco though! Hope it all works out!
Another beautiful aquarium for that naughty fish! 😍 I know it was built for him/her specially, but I would put a few nano fish in it also. Just to have a little more "life" in it... Something like a little group of Pseudomugil furcatus aka Popondetta furcata aka Forktail blue-eye maybe? 🤔😉😁
hey MD . I've been procrastinating on my build because you supply all your videos. BTW learning a lot of early England Hx by viewing 'The Last Kingdom" on Netflix . :D
nice job Mate....it's so hard to catch these little suckers....we recently moved our royal blue pleco and it took an hour hahaha....hopefully he stays where he is for a while....this little dude is so handsome MD....looks great where he is is know and he'll like his zuchs for sure!
So I have a pleco, who I think is full grown? I got it when it was a baby, only a few months old, and it hasn't really gotten bigger. I have no idea what type of pleco it is but it has been doing fine in the tank have for it. However, I want to get a bigger tank and get some plant life in there and get some more small fish or shrimp or both. I came here for inspiration and I think besides inspiration, I found a new favorite animal channel to watch. I love how beautiful your aquariums are!!!
MD ,how about nicely coloured 8 to 10 thread fin rainbow fish along with the pleco in that tank? It would definitely look cool and they are suitable for nano tanks!
Hi. Just a tip on these guys. You can never have a big enough tank for these guys. When i put mine in a 100L tank so I could sort her tank out she kept leaping out of the tank so I had to lid the tank. The i would hear her hitting the tank lid. I took her out of a 500L tank that she thrived in. I woke up the next morning to find she knocked the lid off and jumped out. So if your tank lid is not secure or you dont have length in the tank they will escape. She was my most expensive fish costing $200nzst dollars which is £100 which is expensive in new zealand. I cried when i found her as I had had her for three years and she was the star of the tank
They also eat protein, like brine shrimp, tubifex worm, blood worm etc. Im sure it'll eat pellets and wafers that is protein based as well. So it does eat a mix of plant and protein.
MD has some in the pearlweed jungle of the Asian tank. Never seen them again 🤣 But he wants to redo this tank. Curious if the kuhlis get into a new setup (hopefully with sand) where they can be seen more often too. I can see my kuhlis several times a day in spite (or because?) of the cryptocoryne forest 😀
MD , I thought of an idea for your channel and / workshop! What if you do a livestream timeplapse thing where you display the latest aquarium build over the course of a month or two to show the actual progress in realtime (Sped up)
Hey, MD! I absolutely love your art. What is that contraption I see you use to get water in and out of your tanks? Custom hose attachment or something I could find in the States?
Hi. I am an avid supporter of your channel. I would just like to know what type of super glue that you use? May I know the exact type and brand? Thank you!
He eats your echinodorus in the amazon tank so why wouldn’t he eat the echinodorus in his new tank? Seems a little bit weird to me, but he has a beautiful tank! Great job!
Nice Video. This looks great! Do you have some advice for filming subjects in aquariums? (Dealing with reflexion while still remaining good lighting or for getting the right depth of field when trying to film a school of fish wich has quite a bit of volume)

Crime: Eating plants
Suspect: Gold Nugget Pleco
Verdict: Guilty
Sentence : his/her very own tank
@Star Shine thank you for recognising this and for recognising that nb people like me exist.
@Star Shine oh god,WHERES TRUMP
The easiest sentence ever. Custom made solitude. 🤣
@Star Shine your either he or she. If your Male I will use Male pronouns and female pronouns for females.
LOL. Nailed it! :)
Awww hopefully you'll get to see more of the little guy now!
yeah for sure. Seeing him loads already. More to come :)
plecos like places to graze on algae and hide from traffic. Love the fact you share your positive and negative experiences as you have them.
Please bring a long Cinematic Video on the Amazon aquarium, it feels like heaven
I’m impressed you were able to net that pleco in that tank. Great job with the new scape. It could be a good tank for a betta fish to go with the pleco
every time you are renovating a aquascape, its looks like new
You are so talented, all the scapes are next level
Holy shit, even your simpler scapes are really good ! You really are a great inspiration to many aquascapist around the world. Keep up the good work !

It's always a good day when MD puts out a video!
Wow this Tank has really come Together!
Finally he gets his own tank🔥
I'm sure that most of us can relate to the excitement in your voice when you caught the pleco.
From what I have learned on aquarium coop the pleco is more likely to eat soft fiber plants like econodoris and Alternanthera type plants. Thank you for all the inspiration and information that you provide on your channel!!!

It would definitely look cool and they are suitable for nano tanks!
What a cool looking fish!
hey @MD Fish Tanks what song did you use at around 6:00?
I knew it ...... he’s going to be a great fish to grow out 👍🏻
You should make an aquarium for the red rail shark, would look really nice in a big planted tank as the main centre piece.
Another inspiring video... MD you are a living legend
Yay MD, was just missing this :) 🤗
Awesome tank and pleco !
I’m so happy I partiley guessed it

Could paint the back of tank with mirror paint. Then you can always see him if he's hiding around the back.
I demands the south park clip every time Timmys name is mentioned muhahahahahaha ..... get on with it....love the channel...
A kuhli loach tank would be cool
MD has some in the pearlweed jungle of the Asian tank. Never seen them again 🤣
But he wants to redo this tank. Curious if the kuhlis get into a new setup (hopefully with sand) where they can be seen more often too.
I can see my kuhlis several times a day in spite (or because?) of the cryptocoryne forest 😀
I didn’t see Pumpkin in the goldfish tank. Did she pass away:( ?
How do you kept the plants so green? 😃😃😃
I have one and they are amazing
Smart fish. He knew what had to be done to get its own tank.
the fish tank you took the cool yellow brislenose out of, how many litres is that
I've got a 7 inch salfin and a 4 inch Bristlenose pleco they love my plants 🤣
Pleco are lightening fast 😮 I have one and he/she zooms around when they want to like mad!
man you should try a bonsai aquascape !!! 🤣
I like the uk drill music 😂
Hey md could you do a scape for a pleco tank 7 bristlenose and Cory's so no plants
Have you considered a Brackish setup?
Hey Mike, how are things going in the UK? I really like your videos. Keep up the good work.
This tank with less plants is definitely one of my favorite.
Less to know the pleco fish to not getting hidden behind plants
u do such a amazing job
You should get a tank and fill it with rainbow fish that would look amazing 🤩
MD , I thought of an idea for your channel and / workshop!
What if you do a livestream timeplapse thing where you display the latest aquarium build over the course of a month or two to show the actual progress in realtime (Sped up)
Great job! 😀 Are you going to put some other fish in there with him too? Would look awesome with galaxy rasboras, chili rasboras or something 😀
Could s/he have some shrimp friends and/or an aquatic frog to share the tank with?
Hey, MD! I absolutely love your art. What is that contraption I see you use to get water in and out of your tanks? Custom hose attachment or something I could find in the States?
Hi. I am an avid supporter of your channel. I would just like to know what type of super glue that you use? May I know the exact type and brand? Thank you!
What about High calcium Level in the aquarium, Can L018 live in it ? Our tapwater is about 15-18 dH
Beautiful fish!
Wow, good idea for pleco..
He eats your echinodorus in the amazon tank so why wouldn’t he eat the echinodorus in his new tank? Seems a little bit weird to me, but he has a beautiful tank! Great job!
He wants the pleco to be able to eat plants...just not the plants in his showcase tank!
Maybe as well in the plecos own tank he can also more easily supplement his diet
What happened to the White Cloud Mountain minnows?
Review on the sparkling gourami tank ??
Nice Video. This looks great! Do you have some advice for filming subjects in aquariums? (Dealing with reflexion while still remaining good lighting or for getting the right depth of field when trying to film a school of fish wich has quite a bit of volume)
Beautiful! Where do you get your rimless aquariums? They’re all gorgeous!
This is a stupid question, but how do you clean the gravel in all of your tanks? I layer my substrate, but it all gets mixed.
I've just set up a 130l shell dweller Aquarium maybe that's something you could try buddy
