My rabbit was on mesh floor when I adopted him and it’s so sad Bc he was 1 years old and had 4 homes before me 😢🥺he’s now 4 years old I love and spoil him sm he deserves it for everything he went through
Very nice video. :) One fact I think you could add is that contrary to popular belief carrots are not ideal rabbit food, the high sugar level can cause they digestive system to get very upset if they eat too much. Just a few slices a day should be the max.
+BudgetBunny Ahoyhoy! I just got a meat lagamorph for a pet. her name is Azaria. do you know any tips on how to bond better with a semi territorial make rattus rattus?
Absolutely fantastic to see a video with excellent information about rabbit care! There are so many on RUclips that are really bad and giving the completely wrong advice. Your rabbits are wonderful and clearly amazingly loved and well cared for. They look so content and happy. Congratulations on doing a great job !
This actually helped with a paper I am working on. I also have two bunnies myself, Nikita and Anoon. I had a previous bunny, Flopsy Cottontail who escaped and I have never seen since. Will also hold her dear in my heart.
I found Ollie in the hay feeder hilarious too! My brown Nethie , Bayley, sits on the hay bale inside they hay bag until he is full up and then has a snooze in there. Rabbits are SO funny .
Thanks for posting, I often worry about posts like this because many people post about what is fun for them and not necessarily what is fun for their bunnies, but your facts were great. I love your set-up too, that is how a rabbits life should look!
Lol he is such a character! Never seen him do that until the other day. Guess the hay on top was better than the hay on better! And glad you found it helpful!
I’m sorry to hear about that. I know how hard that can be. My baby I raised from a Kit died in January. She would have been nine this year and we shared a birthday. She lost her eyesight and relied on me heavily when she got old and our bond was so incredible her last few years. It’s hard and I wish she was still here. No bunny ever could replace my Chloe but I’m looking into adopting someone to raise in her memory and using what she taught me in those nine years to make my next baby’s life so much better. And I know I’m gonna do the same thing again and again if I can.
We adopted our bunny, Milo from the animal shelter and plan to adopt another from the same place tomorrow. Milo settled in super quickly which surprised me, and he is not at all phased by my 2 cats and 2 dogs. Even my American Bulldog who barks in his face. He just looks at her from his lounging position and is like, what is your point? lol We only got him 2 weeks ago. He willingly climbed into my lap this morning and I was super stoked.
Thanks for the informational rabbit video! I'm going to an animal rescue shelter tomorrow to go meet their bunnies, and most likely adopt one or two! :) I'm so exited!!!! :D
I am hopefully getting a rabbit soon! My parents are paying for the cage, toys etc. While I am paying for the rabbit itself and saving up for it to get spayed/neutered (deepens if it is a girl or boy) , I'm also saving for any vet checkups, emergencies etc. ! THIS WAS A GREAT VIDEO! 💖
Really enjoyed this video! It was fun and informative but also concise for people who are new to rabbits or considering them =) Plus all the cute footage of everyone ;) x
Rocky reminds me of our bunny, Shippo. He has a little more white on him than Shippo did, but that little white paw is the same. He had a white nose, too. He passed away earlier this year. I still really miss him.
If a rabbit feels upset or threatened they may still display these behaviours. It's their way of saying they don't particularly like something. Some bunnies can be a little grumpy and still do some of these things. Rocky still lunges a bit at me if I put my hand in the lower back part of his cage and he is there. He feels trapped as there's nowhere for him to go. If I need in that corner to clean or I either do it when he's having floor time or shoo him to another area of the cage first.
I knew all of these but we have really pampered rabbit! Awesome video I still really enjoyed and this will help people really consider getting a rabbit they are lots of work and many people do not know they need time to hop out of the cage. We have them in rabbit hopping which they really enjoy and gives them a long track to hop, also my rabbit loves being pick up and cuddled I can just be holding her not even petting and she will purr
Ollie was so cute sitting in the hay rack! I remember when my first bun did that when he was a baby... I thought he had somehow escaped his cage at first, but no, he was just happily sitting in his hay rack... :D
I found a little white bunny there a couple months in my garden. im so happy i found him. As a Canadian i was scared he died during the winter! He is doing great and i love him so much. I watch your video and it hepls me a lot whit this little furry ball ^^!
Long ago, my dad found a rabbit near the road, and gave it to me, I wanted to keep her, we did, now we have more and more, r.i.p Julia, our first ever rabbit.
:( Make sure your mom takes them to a good home! At school this girl was excited when she found out I had a rabbit too! She said that she has 2 and they had children and she lets them outside in her garden. I told her that I need to spend a ton on a spay (of course!) But she said that there is no point because they live a short life. She also told me that the RIGHT way to pick up a rabbit is by it's ears...... Hearing that scared me. Ears? It's like holding a child by their hair. I found out my bun is a girl, and she said that if you didnt want your rabbit to have babies then get a boy one. Armadillo is the love of my life now. I cant replace her. Some people just dont know how to care for pets. The best place is to take the bunnies to a shelter. Before adopting, they usually ask you to fill out a forum. Many owners will go to a shop to buy their pets, but good owners tend to adopt. The girl also said that keeping rabbits indoors is a stupid and bad idea because they live shorter lives. She said that her bunnies usually live up to 5 years.... I told her domestic house rabbits can live up to 12. She said I was lying and walked away....
+BubbleGumSlushy AJ I also had a bun I found outside one day. My neighbors knew I had one already and asked if he had gotten out, so I got my shoes on and chased after him... while I did, and I picked him up, he wasn't my bun George at all! He was an albino, while George was a whitish Holland Lop with a gray face. I said forget it and put up a few fliers, then introduced the bunnies. George had his usual reaction of 'whatever', and when no one claimed him, I named the new one Ralph and put them together. Ralph became super protective of his little boyfriend George, and they had lots of fun together. Both of them have since passed on, but it was weird to find a bunny in the middle of October in the heart of Los Angeles.
That's right! There are so many animals sitting at rescues or shelters that are looking for their forever, loving homes. It just takes someone to say no to that adorable baby bun bun at the pet store and contact a rescue instead :)
It's nice to know there are others like me out there :) There are many pet owners who do their research first and want the best for their pets but there still tend to be a lot of people who want the pet because it's 'cute' but don't want the work that comes with it! I am hoping if someone is doing their research they stumble across this video or my Is A Rabbit The Right Pet For You video which will get them to stop and take a moment to understand the commitment that goes in to owning a rabbit :)
Hahaha okay so Ollie has never done that ever! I was cleaning the other day and getting ready to do cage tours, looked down and he was in the hay rack! He really tries not to eat any more hay than he has to so I just left him there. When he looked like he was finished I was opening the cage to get him out of there safely but he just hopped out and chilled in his bed afterwards!
If you can spend loads of time with your rabbit then I think one is okay. If you're at work all day or at school then I definitely think a bonded pair is best. No one speaks better bunny then another bunny! And it's so sweet watching two interact - they groom one another and snuggle together...I really believe a having a friend helps them both grow and become amazing pets. :) Spayed/neutered first of course!
Hmmm do you think perhaps it's neurological? It's quite difficult without actually seeing what the twitching is like. Rabbits can get something called head tilt which is a bacteria I believe and causes their head to lean to one side, if it's not treated and gets out of control it could kill the rabbit. If it's more of a shaking your rabbit is doing like it's itchy then it could be mites or fleas. Or it could be nothing, again very hard to tell without interacting with the rabbit first.
I need help. I'm a first time bunny owner, and we keep ours outside in the shed( with heating!) and keep them in cages with wire flooring. We have a pull out drawer for the bedding and such. I know wire mesh flooring is bad and I could put fleece down but that would defeat the purpose of the drawer! What should I do?
Try to use wooden chips and straw. Rabbits cuddle with each other to warm up themselves so make sure you have two rabbits:) if its really cold and your afraid that they may get ill then put them in the garage but if its already cold outside DONT put them in the house because that would be really bad for them. Also make sure they always have hey in their cage and that they never run out of water. I have rabbitts (5 months) and guineas (6 years) and the guineas have never lived in the house and survived a winter with -25 c•.
Hi Budget Bunny! Just wondering, how do you keep your rabbits so happy? I have a little dwarf who, to be honest, is pretty dull sometimes! She would rather sit down than run around. I've had her for around 7 months and havent EVER seen her do a binky, even when I leave her on the floor in my room for 4-5 hours. She gets all the neccessary essentials (unlimited hay, fresh water, food, romaine lettuce etc.) but she is always just sat there. How can I help her come out of her shell a bit? Thanks!
I would suggest u get another rabbit. A bunny NEEDS a companion 24/7 so another rabbit will have you and your rabbit much happier :D But, if you cant get another, i would suggest you get (or if you already have one) a dog Xpen to go outside. Let your bunny run around. It will make her much happier! My bunny sammie is very social. I take him downstairs and i keep an eye on him at all times since the dogs come down. Also, where is she housed? If she is housed outdoors i would suggest u put her in a place where a lot of people come. But i would strongly suggest you get another rabbit. Im trying to convince my parents to adopt one from an animal shelter! If you get another rabbit get it from an animal shelter :D I hope this helped ;)
As others have said, rabbits need a companion, humans are just not enough for them. The best thing I can advise is to find a local rabbit rescue, they will advise you of your best options, you can choose a few rabbits you like and then you can take your rabbit to them for her to choose the mate she likes and the rescue will bond them so you have two happy bunnies! A good rescue will have neutered/spayed and vaccinated their bunnies, if they don't then find another. For example, the RSPCA will just give you what they have, neutered or not! So not only do they leave you to bond them yourself (which is a recipe for disaster if you don't know what you are doing), but they also don't give a thought to the fact you could have another 6 bunnies in a months time; irresponsible! A rescue will ask you for a donation, please note that this does not cover their costs of sterilising, vaccinating and the 24/7 time spent bonding, so you are actually getting a bargain. Your bunny should also be sterilised before bonding.
My bunny does binky's all the time it's hilarious 😂

Better once a week!
my rabbit take like one month to eat a whole carrot she only nibbles for like 5 seconds and then is done
BeautifulBettas lol! That means she doesn't like it much
it s carrot leaf they like

I thought a “binky” was called a “happy hop” - as far as I know, it shows they’re having fun at that time. Bunnys are the best ☺️
Lol! The bunny in the hay!! Great video and super cute!!!!!!!!!
I have a bunny too.

I’m sorry to hear about that. I know how hard that can be. My baby I raised from a Kit died in January. She would have been nine this year and we shared a birthday.
