  • How to cook Edamame Beans? The Japanese style of cooking the beans are usually blanched in salt water and not served with salt. However, I like to eat them with a little bit of salt.
    Prep Time: 5 min
    Cook Time: 5 min
    Total Time: 10 min
    Yield: ±400 grams
    Ingredients
    400g edamame beans
    1000g water
    1 tsp fine sea salt
    Instructions
Tear open a pack of edamame beans and then pour them out. Sprinkle some salt. Rub the pods against each other with hands and then rinse them thoroughly.
Put water into a pot. Bring it to a boil. Add edamame beans and salt. Wait until the water boils. Lower the heat, cover the pot and simmer the beans for 5 minutes.
Scoop up the edamame beans with sieve. Put the beans into a large bowl of cold water and drain well. Pat them dry with paper towel. Sprinkle a little bit of salt and serve.

this is the right way, if you don't put it into cold water/rinse after the hot cooking, the pods will turn brown

    Wash then cook in microwave.
It is much simpler and tastes better than boiled edamame because none leech into boiling water.

You can always test the beans if you are not sure about the cooking time. If the beans is cooked, they should be tender. 🙂
