@philmason7860 I know and if thought through, it is bizarre, human centric to the extreme and is a version of the "fall from Grace" theology. There are reasons imo it did that but there is no mastering it as a literal concept because it doesn't exist. If one wishes to treat it as a present tense ongoing metaphor, then it might have some relevance. The "fall" (Garden of Eden) was a myth to represent departure from unity consciousness, not a literal event. That God would not know this happened but figure out something was not kosher so it sent its "Holy Spirit" (separate from itself???) to mediate is weird thinking.

@philmason7860 The Course was created and published from around 1966-1975 when America was 90% Christian. It had to clothe itself in a highly Christian form, including a semblance of "fall theology" in order to inverts and subvert traditional Christian doctrine. People were not yet ready to understand God created all of this, dark and light, which is a Vedanta concept. That receptivity would come in the 90's, when channeled popular works like "Conversations With God" gave a clearer picture. "The impulse, thought, idea, consideration arose in God, what would it be like if I experienced myself as that which I am not, the illusion of separation and forgetting?"
The Course always says it points to something but is not the thing itself, which is beyond language and intellect. At some point we must leave the words and concepts and plunge in through direct experience. The Course calls these moments "Hoy Instances". I call them "Holy Immersions".

In the analogy of the squeezed rubber ball having the tendency to return back to its original form, that "tendency" can be said to be unconditional love. The separating experience manifests a longing to return to Oneness and if it creates it in our finite being which is itself the infinite Consciousness then there is nowhere that the tendency/unconditional love is not.

I think those quotes are in relation to ‘the idea’ there is a person. There is no person but because of beliefs, it takes a shift in seeing clearly .. Consciousness knows itself and the teachings refer to ‘being yourself knowingly’ just brings attention back to oneself rather than outwards towards what look like objects, but are just perceptions. Saying there are no objects and that god doesn’t know the world is only from the perspective of separation, of which there is actually none. God only knows itself and everything as itself ..as that is all there is ..

I feel like this video hits upon a paradoxal truth that intellectually may be gotten at, but from the finite mind's perspective is not all too useful.
I feel like even if we are talking about the Most High/God the Father/Prime Creator and conceive of Him purely as the empty infinite field of potentiality wherein everything occurs and from which everything stems, it would be strange to have this all happen within It without Him being involved with that in a knowing way? Otherwise, what would be the point? I feel all that happens within Him is His action and excersise in getting to know Himself through that and playing out and experientially and expansively exploring something that was only potentiality and knowing of Oneself.

Beyond the mind there is no such thing as experience. Experience is a dual state. You cannot talk of reality as an experience. Once this is understood, you will no longer look for being and becoming as separate and opposite. In reality they are one and inseparable, like roots and branches of the same tree. Both can exist only in the light of consciousness, which again, arises in the wake of the sense 'I am'. This is the primary fact. If you miss it, you miss all.

When i think about infinite consciousness i always start from the plant life. A tree. What we normally perceive as a non sentient, not knowing, unconscious, static organism is in fact a living breathing intelligent mobile being. What it perceives and ways it's perceiving, the way it communicates with environment are a universe to itself. Yet, exactly the same consciousness runs the human body, in exactly the same way. Then there's human mind. And here, without consciousness nothing would be known. The same consciousness. Then there's God. A universal source of life, consciousness by which there can be life, interestingly doesn't mix the experiences, so it looks like, from the point of view of the tree, it doesn't know that miss so and so is having a great promotion at work. But it does know that i am ellated because i got a promotion. It does know, instinctively, a chemical change in its leaves will prevent them being eaten.. God will know what to do when it comes to life, because God loves it, just like you and i love it. Even when mind is suffering, God knows what to do about it, because god is intelligence in creation of life

But infinite consciousness could know a part of itself, like a human knows they have a hand. A part of the infinite may well also be infinite. There is an ordinality to infinity, yes some infinities are larger than other infinities, as shown by Cantor's diagonalisation proof that the number of reals is greater than the number of integers (both infinite but the latter is smaller which also makes intuitive sense).

God will become finite in non-dual world becs of many finite parts...
But there is another way to understand it... The universe is matter and conciousness and the until a human is alive the conciousness is linked with the matter as the brain functioning...
When one dies his memories, experiences, ego and mind activities re stored in god's mind...
In this way god is infinite and separate from universe as matter is not eternal neither the universe...
And universe disappears and god remains at the end...
Non-dual perspective cant explain how god created the universe, they would say he did not create the universe he is the universe and he does not know anything about himself that would be absurd...
Humans can see their thoughts and their body parts change, grow with time.... So non-dual god would be bound by time and unaware of his own self...

My understanding of Ruperts concept is that if we’re asleep and dreaming of a world, all there is to that world is consciousness. The subjects and objects within it borrow their reality from the subjects mind.
The knowing used by the subjects in the dream is borrowed from the dreamer and believed to be there own.
However they only thing that is aware or knowing any of the contents of the dream is the dreamer.
But because the dreamer is asleep, the dreamer itself is not knowing the experience directly, in order to do so it must forget itself, just as we do in dream state sleep.
The dreamer is infinite consciousness obviously.
For it to know the finite it has to forget it’s infinite nature or fall asleep. Through this process it creates the finite. This is because the finite cannot know the infinite directly.
To summarise, the only thing knowing our experience is the pure knowing of consciousness. However it does not know it knows as it has had to forget it’s true nature in order to dream/manifest form.
It’s a great concept and it explains everything in our experience and non duality overall.
It is how the infinite falls asleep or forgets itself that he never explains.
This part of the story is what requires the leap of faith. But I think most people are that enamoured with the concept, they miss this part!
I think infinite consciousness forgetting itself is a questionable concept.
Can ‘no thing’ or the unmanifested forget itself?
You can go on and on with this 🤯
Lots of silly human questions that can’t be answered.
It’s a lovely concept but that’s all it is.
Unless someone has the answers that is 😮😂
Surely our concern is not the answers, it’s the questioner 🤷‍♂️
Maybe I’m just confused, but I think that’s a natural consequence after attempting to understand a description of that which can not be understood 🤷‍♂️
Thankfully when we abide in the truth our insatiable desire to understand that which can’t be understood, is removed. As is the person and all it’s silly questions.
The fragment can not be the whole 🤷‍♂️

This isn’t a complete teaching. As non dual consciousness experiences itself through the duality. God knows the manifest forms, such as you and I through the finite world. It’s not a concession, it’s a reality that god has an experience of of the finite world. You are god having an experience of the finite world. You are infinite awareness knowing the world. When the actor wakes up from being king lea, it has had an experience of being king lea. It has known. Should the glass be looking out at the world and everything it sees be a manifestation or expression of the water inside it, it may not know the water. But it can have an experience of the nature of that water.
God loves you, because I love you, you love you. We are god. We love this world of form. This playground that allows us to have an experience of the nature of our infinite consciousness.
So the statement infinite consciousness knows nothing. Is misleading, as you are infinite consciousness knowing something. But the nature of non-duality is that in its pure form consciousness can not know anything other than itself because it is everything undifferentiated the water can not know water.
However it is differentiated through this manifestation and therefore can know reflections of its nature. You are a reflection of itself nature and the awareness of which is being reflected.
