Even if guns were completely legal in China there wouldn't be much criminal violence because they are a law abiding people.
Same with most of American. We have 300 million guns in the hands of 100 million citizens but most of the killings are in a dozen big cities and many of them involve self defense shootings.

Sadly, though, these moments pass. A veil drops. We return to our normal awareness. But we cannot entirely forget such awakenings, however brief they may have been. Even as their memory fades, we are haunted by them. Again and again they whisper to us, reminding us that more awaits us. What larger life do they reveal? Is our present existence all we are meant for? What greater destiny do we and the world share?

I find it interesting that they didn’t even consider the possibility that the shooter was just a crazy kid with a gun trying to be infamous. That’s how weird things are in the US right now. They probably don’t understand just how many mass shootings we have and sometimes those are even school shootings. We live in a very unique environment when it comes to guns, mental health, and material conditions. A lot of the youth feel hopeless and feel like the American Dream is dead, so they turn to extreme beleifs and behavior like this.
We are living through some heartless/souless conditions and it’s turning some of us into monsters with easy access to weapons. Also, freedom of speech allows us to be extremely hateful to each other on social media and it fuels a lot of this stuff. We have extreme division and people are getting deeper into conspiracy theories and ideologies. It’s something the US is going to have to work out. I hope we survive it. I think we will but we are having some growing pains as we learn how to navigate through this great American experiment. It’s worth the effort, we just have to hang on through these turbulent times and learn to care for each other again.

For you that don't know, the shooter researched events for both candidates. He picked the first one that happened to be in his area, which in this case was Trump's. But if Biden would have been in the area, he too would have been in the crosshairs. There is a general mood in the nation that both parties don't represent us, only the rich and powerful. It is likely this attitude that drove the shooter.
I am relieved that Trump wasn't killed, for it would have been very bad for the country. Democracies need to determine their leaders through votes, not bullets.

There is only one political party in China, wrong. There are many political parties in China, and they all have the right to vote in the People's Congress. We only have one ruling party. The concept of ruling party and political party is completely different! Adhering to a political party is to enable us to sustain a long-term plan. It also avoids the influence of the ruling party and policies by the chaebol group, at least the vast majority of the Communist Party's policies are for the overall consideration of China!
In addition, there are many factions within the Communist Party, but there are absolutely no celebrities with dementia or sensationalism here.

The crux of the matter is why do we need to be confused about one party? This is the problem with Westerners, they think the world should run according to their habits. they thrives on the system tho, so i doubt it. It's all about tribalism & herd mentality.
Someone having a belief on certain topic that disagree with the general belief held by the Replublicans (say, gun control), would naturally gravitate toward their 'enemy', the Democrats, vice versa.
Do that several times & you have 2 cults that naturally attract ppl & monopolize opinions/beliefs from opposite ends of different topics. There's no place for so-called 'fence-sitters'. Any stray opinion has no platform, no 3rd place to align themselves to, it would get supressed due to peer pressure so ppl wont think for themselves & have their own positions.
It works for the purpose real well. The voters have got the one & only place to feel belong to, & the politicians guarantee the monopoly of the specific group of voters & set of beliefs or opinions.
