But notably I had to pause my demo speedrunning for a second in the garden area after the guards because wow that little space alone was just gorgeous. I don't remember even a single area in Link's Awakening looking so nice and this is the first 10 minutes!! I was also worried about the Echo Menu Management. My hope is that a lot of puzzles that require echoes will require some TYPE of echo instead of very particular ones. Like even in the demo, they'd give you a certain echo to use for progress but you could probably make another one work. And maybe later some puzzles just need any "Heavy" echo or "Tall" or "Breakable" echo and so on to solve the puzzle. So if there's truly no additional echo management tools, I hope the flexibility on the echoes that'll do the job for the curated challenges to be enough for us to quickly flick down the list a couple spaces and find something that'll work at least
That's not surprising since Link's Awakening on Switch was a 1 to 1 remake of a Gameboy game, so they had to make everything match and couldn't get too much more creative with sizes and spaces. @@zacziggarot Nope, lol. Plus you can only have a certain amount out at a time, so if you need to get up really high or across a larger gap you obviously have to use other things.
I'll admit, my biggest fear about this game is that combat is going to be too passive for my tastes. That a lot of it is going to be hanging back and letting your echoes handle it without much participation from the player. The other stuff you can do with echoes looks fun though, and I'm happy to see the return of actual dungeons. Also, the fact that this might be more story-heavy than most Zelda games is exciting too!
One of the first trailers shows you able to pick up something that shoots literal missiles at the opponents, I don't think it's all going to be passive. Also, it seems that a lot of the time where you place the enemy is super important
Something that would be amazing: if this game has something like eventide island, where you lose all your echos and have to solve the area with just the echoes that you find in that area. It would really help push the puzzle nature to its limits
@sabrinafletcher7884 I was, I just want more. So many more. I would buy dlc that is just a series of these rooms. Sort of like a Cave of Ordeals from Twilight Princess.
Why do you have that feeling? When has Zelda EVER done anything but a one-off gimmick? Other than collecting macguffins at the end of dungeons, the series has always changed. I can only think of two examples where the one-off gimmick became a two-off gimmick
I'm glad this game is coming out after UFO 50 because I'm going to be very busy with that for a good week before it releases. You can't keep me away from that game
I just wish that they also brought back Link, as well. I hope that they don't stray too far from some of what made the previous games so great. I really love being a humble warrior, journeying to save my beloved princess from evil. I feel like this is part of a recent trend, especially with Peach's game also in the limelight. Not that I mind playing as the princesses once in a while, or them having their own games, but a little concerning.

Twilight Princess, Windwaker etc. were amazing and different, all while still honoring the roles of the characters and the story. "This series has survived so long because..." The enemy summoning thing was super fun on prince of Persia the lost crown (that amazing Ubisoft Montpelier game that no one played) so I can’t wait to use it here
lol not to be a pedant but the first 2D "Zelda" to give players the ability to jump as an intrinsic ability is in fact the second one ever made, "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link". I do think "Echoes of Wisdom" is the first *top-down* 2D "Zelda" where this is the case, though,.
I wish we'd stopped calling these games 2D since they've been 3D for the last four iterations, I'm counting the DS games, Link between worlds, and the Link's Awakening remake. We should really start gravitating to "overhead" or "top down" like you said
Imagine all they do to change the switch from the switch 2 is add a little dial that allows you to toggle inventory or select screens with ease. Just like a little rubber gear near the plus sign that gives people that extra speed when choosing an item in a game.
I actually do like the look of this. It reminds me of my favorite game in RPG Maker, which might just be the structural change that Zelda needed for me.
You can see a category sorter for your Echoes on screen when you're asking if there'll be a more convenient way to find them lol. Looks like BOTW's/TOTK's but with gladly more options
Thanks for the preview review! Huh, you’re posting to other channels. That explains why I haven’t seen much of you. @@zacziggarot When Zelda fans say 2D, they don't mean art style. If they were, it'd be called 2.5D anyways, not 3D. Minish Cap would not be a 3D game if it were remade with models instead of sprites. The gameplay is what is being referred to, not the graphics. Do you think that recent Prince of Persia game is 3D? Or what about Kirby pre forgotten land? Would you call Return to Dreamland a 3D game? If so, then you are just not gonna find anyone who agrees with you.
I don't think YOU even know what fans mean when they say 2D. There's no .5 about the last four anyways, they're FULLY 3D. Being 3D isn't an art style, it's how many dimensions it has. Ocarina of Time could be considered a 2d Zelda then if Link's Awakening remake is a 2d Zelda now. How is it any different? The style of game is still EXACTLY the same, ONLY THING that changes is the camera angle, all that third dimension really equates to is having to look up occasionally to hit a switch or flying enemy anyways. Wow, the game added ladders, looks like we're in three dimensions now. Remember back in the good old days when you got amazed by the 3D graphics of the PNG of death mountain in the distance? I think it's funny that you want to compare Kirby games that are ACTUALLY two dimensional what with the lack of depth movement. It's funny that you had to specify PRE forgotten land because forgotten land's maps are basically Link's Awakening with the top down view 🤣 Sorry, Kirby I guess you're still a 2d game 🤷 In wind waker you can't fly, you're always stuck on the ground and sailing on the sea on a 2d plane. Uh-oh looks like it's two-dimensional now 😐 That's what you sound like 🙃

It would really help push the puzzle nature to its limits
you must have been overjoyed about the sleep dojo's blank slate levels! :) i had a ton of fun with them
@sabrinafletcher7884 I was, I just want more. So many more. I would buy dlc that is just a series of these rooms. Sort of like a Cave of Ordeals from Twilight Princess.
6:45 "... 3 at a time. I don't know if that increases." While showing multiple clips of having 4 echoes out at a time.
I have a feeling that the next Zelda game's main mechnic could be cpaturing and using monsters in battle with Echoes of Wisdom being a test for it.
Why do you have that feeling? When has Zelda EVER done anything but a one-off gimmick? Other than collecting macguffins at the end of dungeons, the series has always changed. I can only think of two examples where the one-off gimmick became a two-off gimmick
@@zacziggarot He just wanted to talk and say things, essentially.
Zeldamon lol
3:15 No more Mr. Nice guy!
Arlo- no interruptions, here we go-
5 seconds later- BEFORE that, this video is sponsored by RAYCON!! 😂
I'm glad this game is coming out after UFO 50 because I'm going to be very busy with that for a good week before it releases. You can't keep me away from that game
Love that you feel great about it based on the demo! :D I think when I play this game I’ll really love it
Arlo: I know Breath of the Wild introduced the ability to jump...
Zelda 2, Link's Awakening, Oracles, and Minish Cap: DUDE WHAT THE HELL?!
bunch of fake zelda fans on here tbh
My hype is building so much for this game! I can't wait to grab it when it comes out!
Realised this morning that you are the only one online I'd trust about this game! Thank you Arlo!
I just can't believe more people in the industry aren't making a big issue out of the outer screen blur. It's fucking horrendous
for something as big as an early hands on with a new zelda game, I'm glad it is on this channel!
they should have had a demo for the patrick game instead of star wars hunters
I am thrilled to hear about all of this, hooray!!!
I already have this pre-ordered and so hyped. I love that they brang back the new Links Awakening artstyle
@@shefalichow7917 you’ve had 2 decades or so of games fitting that exact description, and they’re just as good if not better on subsequent playthroughs. They ain’t going anywhere.
Let new entries try new things instead of rehashing the same narrative or mechanical formula - after all, this series has survived for so long *because* it knows when to evolve and mix things up.
@@rickygforce4217 More like four decades. "Let new entries try new things" Except pretty much every game in the past tried new things, while keeping the overarching story and characters in the form we love(d). That's a bad excuse to totally switch gears and take the story/characters in a vastly different direction (I'm not saying this is the case with this latest game, although it is the most changed yet). Twilight Princess, Windwaker etc. were amazing and different, all while still honoring the roles of the characters and the story.
"This series has survived so long because..." It has survived not only because of ingenuity, but also because of the story and characters everyone already loves. Maybe you don't count yourself among them, and mainly care about gameplay, and that's fine, but then it's no longer "The Legend of Zelda."
Zelda stuff on this channel, it’s always big enough
Appreciate the first impression video, boy I gotta say we have been able to jump in 2D LoZ since Link's Awakening.
Doesn’t LTTP start with Zelda in jail and Link has to break her out?
No his uncle is in jail and gives him a sword I believe.
@@RyluRocky it’s funny. I actually have since played ALTTP and EoW and what happens in the former is his uncle goes to break Zelda out of jail but you find him dying at the entrance of the prison and gives you the sword. In EoW Zelda doesn’t start in prison but is put there a little bit after the game starts.
The enemy summoning thing was super fun on prince of Persia the lost crown (that amazing Ubisoft Montpelier game that no one played) so I can’t wait to use it here
Lucky you get to play the new legend of Zelda game early. I am so excited to hear what you have to say about it!
lol not to be a pedant but the first 2D "Zelda" to give players the ability to jump as an intrinsic ability is in fact the second one ever made, "Zelda II: The Adventure of Link". I do think "Echoes of Wisdom" is the first *top-down* 2D "Zelda" where this is the case, though,.
We don’t talk about Bruno
I wish we'd stopped calling these games 2D since they've been 3D for the last four iterations, I'm counting the DS games, Link between worlds, and the Link's Awakening remake. We should really start gravitating to "overhead" or "top down" like you said
Imagine all they do to change the switch from the switch 2 is add a little dial that allows you to toggle inventory or select screens with ease.
Just like a little rubber gear near the plus sign that gives people that extra speed when choosing an item in a game.
Would love to hear your thoughts on other games you played atPax! Maybe in a Tropic Arlo video?
I actually do like the look of this. It reminds me of my favorite game in RPG Maker, which might just be the structural change that Zelda needed for me.
I am playing this game now and it is so dang good. It kind of reminds of SUper Mario RPG with the jumping and 2d world with vertical levels to it.
Arlo doesn't exist, he cannot go outside
Raycon:
still not a fan of the art style, but gameplay seems really cool! excited to play
Unlike most people, I subscribe to those I want to listen to and then mostly use my subscriptions list for content, and that means I have a heavily curated list… but I won’t be adding a ton of other sub channels to it because I manually curate it, and I’m already at 50ish and that’s almost too big to manually curate quickly.
Wow he finally posted to the main channel!
I can't wait to see the beds only speed run.
I am so excited for this game. It releases the day after my birthday!
I got baited so hard by that ad transition
Zelda II was a 2D game that allowed arbitrary jumping. Why does everyone always forget that one?
The part about the first 2D Zelda treating itself as a 3D Zelda got me so hype lol
Like the last four 2D Zeldas all have been 3D 😂
Can’t wait for the demo to be made publicly available several months after the game’s release.
I found the scrolling fine. You can also just open the regular menu with +.
Much epic, Arlo Upload relating to thee Echoes of Wisdom
Sounds great I hope this demo goes public on the eShop.
Super turned on for this game! Cannot wait!
Arlo’s feeling the itch for traditional puzzle design.
We won guys
I think this game will make me nostalgic for the old overlord games
... Butternut squash? Yes, please!
Wow I’m even more hyped I can’t wait 🤯
been playing it for a few days because I got sick and it got leaked, and I can confirm it's really good. Idk if it's as good as a link between worlds (my personal favorite 2d zelda) but it's promising. I'm currently a bit over half way through the story as of writing this.
"CANT STOP WON'T STOP!!!" Arlo is here
I like the elements of Pikmin introduced with the echoes
I’m surprised Arlo hasn’t made the connection with Pikmin yet. The cursor lock-on to guide your echoes is a bit similar to guiding your Pikmin around.
Can't wait to press more buttons!
I like how if you use sponsorblock (sorry Arlo) he just jumps on screen, shouts "Beef" and jumps off 😂
I love the game! It is so much fun and very refreshing. Exactly what I had hoped for!
Great preview!
Is it out yet? Can't wait
Star Wars hunters is actually a pretty fun lil game!
I would say Minish Cap treated itself like a 3D Zelda in terms of story and depth
This boy keep me waiting for a week.
I've never been this excited for a Zelda game, esp a 2D one
It looks like a great blend of old n new Zelda
Y'all need to learn what 2D means 😂 like it's not even a 2d style anymore, cuz the last four games that have been like this have all been 3D
@@zacziggarot
When Zelda fans say 2D, they don't mean art style.
It's funny that you had to specify PRE forgotten land because forgotten land's maps are basically Link's Awakening with the top down view 🤣
Sorry, Kirby I guess you're still a 2d game 🤷
In wind waker you can't fly, you're always stuck on the ground and sailing on the sea on a 2d plane. Uh-oh looks like it's two-dimensional now 😐
That's what you sound like 🙃
@@zacziggarot🤡
the pokemon metaphor for the fights made the game better for me tbh
