    This is great content. You are not the only person to run into problems interpreting the documentation. While I appreciate the hard work the MiSTer devs put in, the quality of the documentation is mediocre. Simple tasks such as outputting YPbPr to a consumer set becomes strangely challenging.

    Thanks so much for this. I use the Ironclad Plus as my IO board and I was having the same problem that you were. That board has jumper pins instead of a switch to change the SOG setting, drove me nuts messing with the .ini file until I found your video.

      Hey there, just curious to see what your resolution to this issue was, and how you managed to change the SOG setting on the board. I’ve got an Ironclad Plus as well, and the SOG pin situation is confusing me. Do they need to be connected with some kind of jumper cap? I wish it were just a switch to toggle on and off like most others seem to have 😵‍💫

    • @JuanjoNarive
      @JuanjoNarive 11 месяцев назад

      @@connorweaver5278 Yes, jumper caps do exist, you can also bend the pins, or jump them with a wire. Also, as I understand, the SoG settings in the INI file using recent MiSTer hardware, overrides the physical switch.

    What you said really surprised me. I'm using an old AMD video card, the CRT Emudriver, the converter box from VGA to component just like you said. Its a pain and it doesn't feel as responsive as it should. I've seen some videos recommending run-ahead, but this causes nothing but problems, and it is also recommended to make individual settings for each and every game. All of this messing with run-ahead to poorly mimic what the Mister does out of the box.

    • @LameGaming
      @LameGaming  14 дней назад

      Yep, I had the same crt emudriver setup and it was always requiring troubleshooting. The mister is so easy to use once configured, and everything just works. There are clones now of mister you can get pretty cheap. I never looked back after getting mister. It even has MisterCast now... You can send 240p output via an ethernet cord from your pc through the mister without all the crt emudriver headaches

    Finally got myself an excellent Sony Trinitron made in 2005, but the component input states 480i only in the manual, not sure if it will accept 240p or if I'll have to find a way to connect this thing via s-video or composite. Did your TV support 480p? I have a JVC AV-32WF47 that only supports 480i and I cannot get it working.
    Weirdly enough I can get that scrambled signal you had only when I leave ypbpr "off" in the settings. With it on, I get nothing. I've toggled the SOG switch, tried every relevant ini setting, and even tried every combination of plugging in the monoprice cable in case it was built wrong.
    Also, I confirmed component works on my CRT by hooking up an old DVD player with component.
    So either mister does not support some 480i CRT's, or my IO board is malfunctioning or I don't know what.
    I did hook up my Mister to component on a flat screen with the monoprice cable and it worked. As you can tell, I am at my wits end trying to figure this out.

      @@LameGaming Thanks! I’ll keep a look out for one. I did notice a weird audio issue when testing NESRGB+HD Retrovision on the larger one I have and I’m curious if you’ve heard anything like it on this one:
      When you reach a castle at the end of a world in Super Mario Bros 3 and speak to Toad, it plays a high-pitched jingle that you hear again right after the fanfare from retrieving a Magic Wand. The audio levels start to go nuts here with volume going up and down like it is confusing some audio leveling/normalization circuitry. While the TV does have such features I confirmed that they are all turned off. This is repeatable! I knew Y was Luma and that Component syncs on Luma (or green) so assumed sync on green was a specific YPbPr/ component setting, But your right... I guess sync on green is a flavor of RGB sometimes called RGsB. But still, why does EVERY single document ive read or video ive seen, talking about getting component out of your mister - they specify the switch needs to be set to SOG?
