    I like Lang Lang’s “breath” instruction so much... I actually found it helpful for the current Beethoven sonata I am doing...

      James Hercals Op. 2 No. 3, I found breathing working well for the octave scales and the arps.

    Lang Lang is one of the best pianists and instructors today. He is not being too harsh, he is helping the student unlock his potential

    He played a difficult piece that was not up to his level, which resulted in many notes not being played clearly. But I can see his understanding of musical expression. He is a talented child.

      He's over exaggerating to get the point across. My teacher does the exact same thing. He's talking more about how he shapes the phrase than how he moves his body.

      the way to dont lift your shoulders is breathing slowly and deeply when playing, and in your mind you must know that playing fast and even slow songs is not racing, every note, every flow of melody has to have time for its own breathing which is Lang Lang gratefuly saying ❤️ for me helps one thing, if im not practising hard technique, but im playing just for joy, i play my hardest and fastest songs much slowly and much more tenderly, just as if im playing some romantic loveful modern song, im just cuddling with the melodies in these songs, and this sonata has one of most emotional melodies ❤️

      Winnie Khong And calligraphy too. And poetry. You can't see where calligraphy ends or poetry begins in Chinese art! If one can access those higher levels of consciousness. Lang Lang quite obviously belongs to those levels as far as music is concerned.

    maybe its my ears but the kids playing sometimes comes across way too dry for Beethoven. Also he seems to lack a good legato in the lyrical section!
