Speaking of mud and sinking. The very first video of yours that I saw was "The worst recovery of my career" about a year or so ago. Great efficiency on that one. made me want to watch more.
Jeffery Mitchell you hit the mark. I did the very same thing. Came across an rental excavator which was buried in mud up to the cab. Chris built a wooden mat road from the street to the buried machine out in the middle of a catch basin. Chris first blocked up the water from coming in on him and proceeded to remove enough mud from around the rental to allow it to be pulled out of its muddy grave. Well done Chris. I, also, have been a fan ever since.
This video brings a whole new dimension to the term “muck raking.” What an amazing, tedious process you have regarding this pond project. I cannot imagine how you will ever eliminate a pond full of mud. Please stay safe out there. Wishing you and your team a great week. Cheers
I don't think the camera transfers the reality of the situation as easily or clearly as you might perceive in person. So if you watch other videos most people not already familiar will not see the differences. But I really like hearing the thought process behind the decisions he makes. You only get that through experience or someone with experience willing to share them.
It boggles the mind to know just how many cubic yards of muck that you moved. The dexterity of using the boom and mat to keep it all in one sock. Bravo Zulu.
All I know is that if that were me out there in that mud you are in, I would be the guy you would have to come and dig the excavator out that would be buried to the doors and listing to one side about like the one you rescued a few years back when I first started watching you, that was epic in my book of mission impossible. Doing a nice job sir, thanks for the ride along.
Hi from uk chris and uncle john👋👍 hope everything goin well and I have heard of making a mountain out of a molehill but making yi mountain to stop yi molehill rolling away is a new one 👌😂👏 my life chris what a hole world of mud you guys got in to here 👍 and I think too many people seen jerry and mike push that pond out that sat for bit to thicken up on the job while back (but he went from solid ground and pushed on firm ground)? Every push was a bit of fresh mud as wall👍 Where as you or on cohesionless ground that has instant liquefaction under movement of the meterial👌 but watching "" flowout the A90D you would snorkle and wetsuit😂😂 reminds me of cows relieving themselves for the flowers😂😂👌 thanks for your time and be safe see you soon👍👋
Love it. Seems like raking the mud with the mat works really well, that's a lot of material to move in one pass! I just can't get over how the really wet stuff moves sometimes, I'll be watching the video and I'll say "Eeeeerrrrg, oh man what a mess" out loud to myself. Keep up the good work!
Love your Mud Squeegee for sure. And your comment about the mud looking like lava, well it does and it even acts like it. Wow what a bunch of goo! Sometimes you must feel like you aren't making any headway, but then (thanks to camera) you can actually see the before and after. Be healthy, stay safe and many blessings, Morgan
Must be building up heck of a piece of property where y’all are dumping it Chris! Lots and lots of pudding there my friend, just what you’re dragging back in the lotion of mud! Wow 👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻I remember the days you and Tim were clearing some bad lots and the mud was so bad that when y’all were finished, you would have a log and smooth the whole lot from the back to the front and it came out looking so much better Chris! You used a log many days! Thanks for sharing my friend, making headway! 👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🇺🇸
Dumping the mud reminds me of cleaning out the dairy barn and hauling it out to the pit. It even pous out of the dump and flows like it. Hope it doesn't smell like it.
The problem is that there will be volunteer plants that come with the soil. I used my pond spoils to level some of the yard and I ended up with cattails popping up in the lawn.
My thought is that if it'll drain out (without tile in it) the owner would effectively have a river bottom on high ground. I'm not familiar with that mud/fines and equating it to the type(s) around here, NOT that that is what you're doing/saying, would only prove my lack of accepting "YMMV" (Your Mileage May Vary). Learning of and about those verities and how others deal with it/them is what's interesting. More like a pond bottom, I guess, assuming that there's a difference in what falls out of suspension and is left behind. It'd be interesting to hear Charlie's thoughts on incorporating it into the existing soil even though I'm sure the cost:benefit would in no way pencil out. Yeah, thinking is fun!
Glad to see you using your "pond shaver thing a ma jiggy" thing again! Perfect application for this job. I mentioned it to Dirty Perfect in a comment months ago and he had no idea what I was talking about. Think it may be time for a TM on this concept! Chris, I have watched almost all of your videos from your "Day One" on RUclips. The progression of your expertise through the years is awesome!
Sure fun to watch the new/old haul truck make the giant mud pie. That has to be some rich silt/top soil once dried. You can sure ice the landscape cake (fluid dynamics) with those mats. Good stuff!
The more you play with it the wetter it gets. I had an uncle tell me that when I was young. Didn't have a clue as to what he was talking about:) Seeing all that mud, I think I understand now.
Your the one that has been running that equipment from 8 years old and I would trust anything your doing or saying. I have watched you make and fix so many ponds I am 100% confident you know when to use a dozer or excavator.
I would think by now everyone should know that you do jobs the most efficient way possible. It is fun thou to listen to explain why you're not using s dozer. Great video and your expiations are entertaining.
The first video I ever saw of yours was rescuing an excavator from a pond dredging project, at the time I couldn't understand how the operator got it stuck so deep. After watching this series, I now understand. Truly fascinating to watch you squeegee literal tons of mud at a time without getting yourself sunk to deep.
It always amazes me how easy you make these machines work. I see you always paying attention to the small details. Thank you for sharing your experiences
for some reason i enjoy watching the mud get dumped out. I like watching it self spread out. Great Channel. Oh, and I received my sweatshirt a while back and love it . it is good quality and thick.
You are such an experienced operator!!! A joy to watch and you stay so calm. The blessing will be good soil when the mud moved dries out. Blessings and stay safe. Luv ur videos.
Moving lava flows of mud - so apt. Beginning to see the large progress made to date - must feel good. A pleasure to watch the transformation by those who know their business.
Watching this video makes me want to fabricate a 12' mud bucket. But hopefully this post will inspire someone else to do it, so I don't have to get off of the couch and disrupt my retirement. Love the videos!
You are the mud moving master! I've had to clean out storm basins without the help of pads and you never know when the bottom will fall out. Have a good one and thanks for the videos
Rough couple of nights, awoke at 2:40 am. Perfect timing for a letsdig18 video. Interesting to watch the transfer of mud from low to high ground. Thanks
Send the video over to Jerry and have Dirt Perfect record his reaction to being told his mission is to use a bulldozer to clean out that pond. Would make for an amusing video. I'm taking a break today, yesterday I moved around .9 cu yards of muck by hand. Dug out by hand put in a .12 cu yard cart and dumped. 8 loads and lots more to go. Always a lot of fun. Stay healthy Chris!
Ya gotta remember, a lot of people had very sheltered childhoods. In other words, they never got to play in the mud and get hosed off before going in the house. LOL
Chris I’m so glad you’ve got the patience of a saint because the job you are doing would be like emptying the Great Lake Tasmania with a tea spoon, I’d have broken something by now , fantastic explanation from you on what has to be done
I live in Southern Maine and when they do work on the power lines, they will literally build highways out of swamp mats. The state is vary perticuler a out not disturbing the wetlands
Another great video Chris man I hate moving mud like that because when you first start it just seemed like you’re not getting nothing accomplished and then all of a sudden you look around and you say well damn I’ve moved a lot of mud out of here but anyway my friend you and John stay safe and keep the videos coming
Have to agree with you on the screed being better than a dozer. The whole pile moves as one so it doesn’t turn to liquid. Cool video. Even got the dozer on dry ground today!!
We had a crappy "bmx" track as kids. After it rained it was good for one lap. Get barely any mud on your bike. Lap 2? You'd sink. A Dozer is not going to work. That's a LOT OF MUD! Great series, Chris!
I get a huge amount of satisfaction watching you scrape with the mud mat! 😀 DP likes a challenge - How about asking him to devise some kind of gloop dredger (technical term)? A long pipe would let you transfer it all either to a truck, tank, or directly into a field. Think of the dirty windows it would save?! - You're welcome 😆
Chris well done videos. I do have a question about the sequence of events moving mud out of a pond like you have in this video. Instead of starting out in the middle of the mud and transferring several times, could the project be started where the truck is loaded. Start loading out mud from the beginning. As you work your way into the pond interior the truck keeps backing up further each time. From what you have said, the more you ride on the bottom the mushier it gets. But if wooden mats could be laid down for the truck to ride on, would this prevent the truck from getting directly on the pond bottom? There's surely a reason this wouldn't work or you would have been doing it. I have always tried to find a better way to do something. Some people call it procrastination. To watch another person do a job proficiently and still looks for a better way to do it, is admirable. Thanks for taking us along.
It's hard to explain unless you have been or seen it happen. When I was operating a weal loader my boss told me to take it across a field of mud. I sed okay knowing what was going to happen. I got about 4 yards in and I'm in the cab looking straight at mud. Took them about 4 hours to get it out. The Wheels were about 8' tall ruffle. I could have opened the window ant tuch the mud. Fun times!!
Anyone else terrified at the thought of sinking in that mud? There was a movie called "The Woman in Black" with a marsh scene involving a carriage I will not soon forget.
Hey Chris !!! WOW !! You sure like making ""GIANT"" cow pies with that ""MUD"" !!!! HAHA Hope the weather holds off till you get done ,, but doubt it !!! Have a good week & Thanks for the ""MUD "" bath experience !!!! HAHA
It really does just liquify as you go. Probably mopping up the water in addition to the mixing action. Definitely wetter than when you start pulling a row! Sorry, just the little kid in me confirming lessons learned making mud pies as a kid 🤣😂🤣
Simplest way to explain it is get a bin that you can put 6-10 inches of sand in , fill it half that with water , wait for the water to settle to the bottom and the top layer to dry then place a heavyish object in the bucket and gently shake it , or just type in earth liquefaction here in RUclips and hundreds of cool videos will pop up explaining it in detail
I would think that The vibration form the excavator would be bringing the water to the surface and make more mud and the natural water table is anointed factor

Same
me too!
kind of thought after that mess they would have gotten the pond job ,, could be done or still on hold after that guy buried the rental
Me Too, about double his subscribers on that video.
That was my first too
Jeffery Mitchell you hit the mark. I did the very same thing. Came across an rental excavator which was buried in mud up to the cab. I can't believe you don't get overwhelmed by all that mud, I do just watching you move it. Great job and video.
Sure was a lot of it!
An exercise in patience Chris. One gloop at a time 🙂
Dig, Scoop Move Reprat 😁
This video brings a whole new dimension to the term “muck raking.” What an amazing, tedious process you have regarding this pond project. I cannot imagine how you will ever eliminate a pond full of mud.

This video ought to be sponsored by project veritas and their new book "American muckraker"

Hello from Maine
The two things that stand out for your success is talent and you're not afraid to get out of the bed and go to work. RESPECT !!!
"Can't have nothin" Man, that was one of my Grandpa's favorite sayings and yes, we are from NC too.

🤣🤣🤣

You are a "mud magnet" Cris, It even tries to get in the cab with you, lol. Nice one, Stay safe,
Lol truely
👍 The "Pull Dozer" method works pretty well.
Must be building up heck of a piece of property where y’all are dumping it Chris! Lots and lots of pudding there my friend, just what you’re dragging back in the lotion of mud! Dumping the mud reminds me of cleaning out the dairy barn and hauling it out to the pit. It even pous out of the dump and flows like it. Hope it doesn't smell like it.
That's going to be a fantastic garden! I use farm pond water to water my crops and that does wonders! I couldn't imagine what straight muck would do.
The problem is that there will be volunteer plants that come with the soil. I used my pond spoils to level some of the yard and I ended up with cattails popping up in the lawn.
My thought is that if it'll drain out (without tile in it) the owner would effectively have a river bottom on high ground.

Good job getting it done even when conditions are muddy

Great video It still amazing me driving that heavy piece of machinery all over the pond I never get tired of seeing that Thanks for showing dump pit 👍
Your the one that has been running that equipment from 8 years old and I would trust anything your doing or saying. I have watched you make and fix so many ponds I am 100% confident you know when to use a dozer or excavator.

De-mucking is alot simpler if you're filling the pond in. There's no super simple solution to dredging a pond that the owner wants to save.
Out of all the ponds Chris has done he is making them more beautiful great job Chris
Here in southern Arizona, mud is an abstract conceptualization!🤣
The first video I ever saw of yours was rescuing an excavator from a pond dredging project, at the time I couldn't understand how the operator got it stuck so deep. After watching this series, I now understand. Truly fascinating to watch you squeegee literal tons of mud at a time without getting yourself sunk to deep.

Oh, and I received my sweatshirt a while back and love it . it is good quality and thick.
Thx for the Saturday Night entertainment! Chips & beer ready. 🙃
Incredible progress in the mud pond! Looking forward to seeing you move to the next section! Stay safe!
Starting off with fresh pond bottom scrapers. Nice!!!
Sure looks like that mud hole hasn't been repaired or cleaned up in quite the while but now it is starting to shape up to decent pond again.
I dont think the Pond Whisperer needs any help on how to do anything. Him n Uncle John git er done
i didnt know that moving mud could be so fascinating
Watching this video makes me want to fabricate a 12' mud bucket. But hopefully this post will inspire someone else to do it, so I don't have to get off of the couch and disrupt my retirement. Love the videos!
Go ahead and get started on it. - someone else
You are the mud moving master! I've had to clean out storm basins without the help of pads and you never know when the bottom will fall out. Have a good one and thanks for the videos
That tail gate on the haul truck is worth its weight in gold. 👍👍
Chris, YOU would make an EXCELLENT SHOP TEACHER.
Rough couple of nights, awoke at 2:40 am. Perfect timing for a letsdig18 video. Interesting to watch the transfer of mud from low to high ground. Thanks
You give a whole new meaning to mud ridin’.
Now don’t you be loosing any of those new mats in that muuuud Chris 🥰🇬🇧🍺
What a beautiful day to work in the mud. :) Thank you and have a good day.
It’s amazing to watch you and John work in such an efficient way. Where the two of you work together in getting the job finished in the shortest time.
We're (almost all) just Armchair Quarterbacks...lol
Send the video over to Jerry and have Dirt Perfect record his reaction to being told his mission is to use a bulldozer to clean out that pond. Would make for an amusing video.

Good evening Chris, looking better everyday.
All the mud you want. FREE Refills !!!
Working in that mud takes its toll on all the moving parts , big job lots of clean up at the end of the day !
Skoopy and Dumpi... Lol.. epic 👊🏻🤣👊🏻
Scoopy and Dumpy. Weren't those two of the seven dwarves?
The owners must have one heck of a budget for that project. Moving mud ain't cheap...
Moving all that mud is a messy pain in the ass, but at least it seems like there'll be no problem getting the pond filled when you're done.
Flows just like lava does just colder
Sorry Chris, that ain’t lava, it’s a giant cow pie
Call Guinness records, you and John just created the largest poopy pie ever on that hilltop!!
A bit overwhelming for me kinda like nailing jello to a tree! 🤣
somebody finally went to the mud-mat depot !!! i love the mud-mat-back-dragging-technique !!!
You and I made the same face when I heard that bang from the track lol.
When I look at the dumper unloading the mud, I think it must be the machine-version of having the shits..... 🤔🤣
Got that down to a science. Excellent job.
This mud looks like lava…have you ever moved this much mud before?👍👍😎🇺🇸🇺🇸
Have to agree with you on the screed being better than a dozer. The whole pile moves as one so it doesn’t turn to liquid. Cool video. Even got the dozer on dry ground today!!
I can relate. four rescue dogs-rain and a dog door!
Lol yup! Me too!
Well Chris, slowly getting there. One goop scoop after another😬😀 Take care & cheers 🐨🦘🥰
New Matts you need them Chris. Dawns here ☀️
We had a crappy "bmx" track as kids. After it rained it was good for one lap. Get barely any mud on your bike. Lap 2? You'd sink. A Dozer is not going to work. That's a LOT OF MUD! Great series, Chris!
One thing for sure when you finish its going to look amazing.
That mud look like a big cow pie. 😀😀😀
Good morning from Australia, gotta love mud...
I get a huge amount of satisfaction watching you scrape with the mud mat! 😀
DP likes a challenge - How about asking him to devise some kind of gloop dredger (technical term)?
A long pipe would let you transfer it all either to a truck, tank, or directly into a field.

Great job Chris but, what a mess to work with. LoL
Whoever says you can do that with a dozer ain’t never spent all day digging one out after it sinks
Lucky if you can get it out in a day. Mud and machine are a duet made in Hell!
Self leveling mud ... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Another great video on the mud baling series bro. Safe travels
Chris well done videos. I do have a question about the sequence of events moving mud out of a pond like you have in this video. A mud sling shot, a mud catapult, a mud conveyor, a mud pump, a mud pie...
Chris those aren't mats they are Mud Squeegees. When the dump truck emptied it looked like flowing lava. You are the mud master. Have a great weekend.
That is truly a dump truck because when it unloads it looks like it is taking a dump.
That is going to be one nice place once you are done !
I hope your contracts have a really tight “mud premium” clause 😁😁👍👍👊👊
Simplest way to explain it is get a bin that you can put 6-10 inches of sand in , fill it half that with water , wait for the water to settle to the bottom and the top layer to dry then place a heavyish object in the bucket and gently shake it , or just type in earth liquefaction here in RUclips and hundreds of cool videos will pop up explaining it in detail
The best I can describe it if you are in quicksand you are told the more you move around the more you sink as with chris driving over it is the same.
I would think that The vibration form the excavator would be bringing the water to the surface and make more mud and the natural water table is anointed factor
Mud Mud Glorious Mud. 😂😂
All there is is mud far as the eye can see, lol🤣
