YES!!! Downsize, live simply, live debt free! Yes, yes, yes!!! Becky said you can't live completely "debt free" - I think she meant "bill free" because we have to pay for some things, but we CAN be DEBT FREE, which is a HUGE step in living a liberated and peaceful life!

Becky, you are absolutely right. I have been debt free for the last 12 years. What an amazing feeling that is. The simple life is the best and will keep you healthier and happier.

AMEN SISTER!!!!!! We preach this everyday and people look at us as if we've grown 2 heads!! Especially when we say don't got to college if you can't afford to pay cash! People think we are nuts but we have a bit left on our house to pay off otherwise we have no debt! The best part is we are still married after 22 yrs. and don't fight about money! :-)

    Great advice
    I had a 15 year mortgage at 26
    Get out of metro areas
    Too high priced...rat race
Once you are free and financially sound, the world is your oyster
Small houses, no cable tv, low cell phone bill , buy car with good longevity, don't lease, keep insurances to a minimum
Find out what jobs are in demand and go to school for that or decide your lifestyle and work around that!
I feel sorry for this generation that pays 55k for a car or truck, and 600k for house...too much baggage!

People look down on self-sufficiency, they really think it's beneath them. My brother asked my wife why we have chickens when eggs at the store are so cheap. If someone is so ignorant to have to ask a question like that then they don't deserve an answer.

I bought a house 2.5 yrs ago. Selling it now for a 70K profit(bought low, selling high really didn't want to rent). I am currently negotiating for 5 acres with a house(needs superficial work) for 60K to start my homestead. I'm not trying to brag because I'm not any more special than anyone else. We can do this! Inform yourself and live within or under your means. America needs more producers and less consumers. Love the hair change Becky and thanks for the inspiration!

Great advice my parents wanted all of us to go to college BUT FIRST they had us seek a certificate so although my brother got a welding certificate. He then went on to obtain a masters in business administration. I completely agree that if you can not pay off the house with a 10 year mortgage then look for a smaller less expensive house.
Might I add...if you can't afford to live debt free in your present area MOVE!!! The cost of living in an area can make OR BREAK you! Although you may want to live in a certain area that area could cause you to remain a debt slave your entire life.

  • @alittlepieceofearth

Right on! I think this is something most people understand, but they get distracted by media and advertisers. Then everyone else is doing it, so it must be okay to go into debt, etc. It is easy to get convinced to do things you know you shouldn't when it seems like everyone else is doing it.

Do you try juicing or making smoothies? Juicing/smoothies because it's already blended up so your body can digest it with less effort and the nutrition can go directly to healing in your body. I would suggest juicing organic greens, but if you are on budget such as I am, then I make smoothies. I add coconut oil to them so that the fat helps in absorption of the vitamins and minerals, and pink Himalayan salt can be added too..... and a small amount can be very good for you! I am just learning but thought to share that so you can keep up your strength. Sending healing prayers your way. God Bless.

Good advice on living with fewer possessions but the fact of the matter is health care will continue to rise no how we administer it. Easy to live cheaply when your young but for the majority of the population, as we get old, we will require really expensive care and someone will have to pay that bill.

  • @LisaN

Hi Becky! I always love your videos. You're just so down to earth and full of common sense. I think a lot of us get blinded by all this need for the house/car/stuff. It really does start out and build up like you said. I'm currently working on extracting myself. Selling off my life full of junk. Eliminated my spending. But am struggling to find decent work after being off so many years. Your suggestion to pursue a certification really hit home. This can work for the young and old. I like your formula for paying off mortgages in ten years. Especially when older... We don't want to be saddles with a 30 year mortgage. We are renting now and God willing, our next purchased home+property will be similar to your setup.

I lOVED this video.. Young ones need to hear this. The brainwashing of our society to want it now..get it now. Want more and bigger.. is what takes one down a path that is near impossible to travel well. I love your videos. I watch them over and over again. I just recently started to raise chickens for eggs. That is how I find you. I also starting to grow some veggies.

Very good advice... wished my nieces would take it. They go from job to job within a few weeks, never developing any real skill.

Another inspiring, great video Becky. Keep up the good work girl; I always enjoy your "easy to understand", genuine messages! I am contemplating a way to semi retire too. I am sort of a homesteader myself. You have given me so many good tips and have motivated me to reduce my "stuff." God Bless!!

Hi Becky, thank you for sharing. I'd like to learn more from you as I am doing my best to start a little homestead. I really wish to purchase a small acreage and build a home like you did. Currently, I live in a small trailer park in northern CA. I do and enjoy gardening and recently got chickens and 2 ducks for eggs. Please, I hope to hear from you soon on how to get out of here and on to our own land. Thank you! Loretta
