This is not a low effort set. Someone at the company really cares about this, and as someone who got an Xbox 360 with a copy of Halo 3 in 2007, this makes me happy.

That’s pretty cool. I like all the light up things and the interior. The Megablocks Halo 3 images were pretty cool. I should probably get this thing. Although, I’m deducting points because if they truly wanted it to be authenticate it NEEDS the red ring of death (I’ve gotten that several times. It’s too bad such a bad design flaw was part of the original Xbox and earlier models of the 360. Thankfully they fixed that, but it obviously shouldn’t have been there in the first place). Hopefully Microsoft brings over more of the 360/original Xbox’s library.
There’s a Lego NES and it’s pretty cool. Too bad Sony doesn’t have anything of their stuff. That would be cool. It’s also too bad they have all these truly amazing ips that they’ve just abandoned. Instead of crying to the governments of the world to help preserve their market dominance they should’ve instead looked inwards and started reviving a lot of their older franchises with MCC style collections and/or Dead Space/Resident Evil style remakes. Either of those would be great ways to draw in new people to their older stuff and then they’d be able to use that success to build the next installments. Unfortunately, that just makes too much sense, and we sadly don’t live in a rational universe. Just like how making a Gears of War collection makes too much sense for Microsoft. (The whole Activision Blizzard merger was so entertaining to watch. On one hand you mad Xbox trying to portray themselves as the underdogs despite being backed by a megacorp, and Sony was terrified Xbox would do everything they’ve been doing/are currently doing now)
It’s too bad we didn’t get that one Halo Megablocks game back in the day. Sure, it probably would’ve been mediocre. But, it would’ve been a fun distraction. If it was good enough maybe we could’ve even had a little side series as a way to hold people over during the wait between mainline Halos. It probably also would’ve sold some sets and made Megablocks more popular. Something I’d love to see are Command and Conquer Megablocks or Lego sets. The big blocky vehicles would translate perfectly into bricks. Too bad EA killed that franchise.

I was a little bummed the red ring wasn’t a feature myself. I thought such a feature may be possible considering Microsoft has somewhat embraced it since the original debacle. Either way, it’s a really cool set. I knew I’d like it but I didn’t expect to love it. I was sold when I saw it came with Halo 3 but had no idea about the really cool interior stuff. My wife received the Lego NES as a gift around the time it first came out. It too is an amazing set, the interior of which is filled with Mario Easter eggs similar to the stuff found in the 360. Lego has an Atari set too but neither my wife nor I really have any nostalgia for their systems and games so I haven’t really had any interest in purchasing it.
Sony has seemingly lost their way a bit, sadly. I’ve never been a huge fan of their exclusives either way though. Aside from The Last of Us, Bloodborne and Spider-Man, which are incredible. Can’t comment on God of War. Funnily enough, the only thing I’m really hoping to see from the Activision buyout is for Wolfenstein (2009) to be relisted. It was my entry into the franchise and I’m endlessly annoyed that I never got the chance to finish it. I hate when such amazing and iconic series have titles that aren’t playable. Believe it or not, there’s actually two unplayable Wolfenstein games. Not only is 2009 nowhere to be seen but neither is Wolfenstein RPG, a mobile game akin to the Doom RPG games. I’m not sure why Microsoft hasn’t done re-releases for any of those. Sure, they’re pretty niche but the Wolfenstein and Doom brands would surely carry some sales and likely make it worth their while. Plus, the Doom RPG games are actually fun. At least they’re playable on PC thanks to a group of modders. I just wish those guys would make Doom Resurrection accessible too. It’s a mobile game as well that takes place during Doom 3. It really grinds my gears that there’s no way to play it. I’m still holding out hope for a Gears of War collection similar to MCC. I’d love it if they gave Gears of War 2 a graphical upgrade, it feels and looks quite outdated, especially when coming from Gears of War Ultimate Edition.
I’m still holding out hope for a Halo Mega game. I’ll never understand why they canceled that project. Just another crappy decision in a long line from that era of 343’s management. Maybe now that they restructured, such a game could see the light of day. I’ve always wanted a Lego Star Wars style game with a Halo theme. I don’t know why but the allure of playing as characters from different eras in places they’re not supposed to be sounds fun to me. The way they handled it in Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga would be so cool for Halo. Seeing characters that would never get to interact having conversations in goofy scenarios would be great. If you’re unfamiliar with what I’m referring to, you should look up some of the character interactions from the Lego Skywalker Saga game. To give you an example: you can play as Darth Vader and Kylo at the same time and they’ll actually speak to each other. It’s neat. I’d love something like that for Halo. I’d love an interaction between Ripa Arby and Thel, Tartarus and Atriox, Truth and the Didact, Cortana and The Weapon, Chief and Noble 6, the list goes on and on.

The NES Lego is really cool. I like how in addition to a replica of the console they also made a CRT tv with a conveyer belt recreations of the first Mario level you can turn. I recently got the Atari one and that was cool. That one opens up and has a recreation of what a kid’s room growing up in that time would have. Even though I wasn’t alive then I was still able to get a lot of the references because I’ve watched several 80s movies and my parents grew up then. I’ve also played a fair amount of retro games and Flash games that are clones of said retro games.
I was guessing you were married since I noticed a ring on your finger. Congratulations! Hopefully, you’re happy together and able to weather whatever storms life throws you. What Nintendo games did she play? I’ve played several Zelda games (Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass, and Wind Waker are my favorites), a decent number of Mario games (2D, 3D, and a few of the rpgs), a few Star Fox games (too bad Nintendo killed that franchise because they have NO IDEA what they’re doing with the series), and a few Metroids (if you haven’t a Switch get the remaster of Prime. Let’s hope 2 and 3 get remasters or an enhanced port that bundles them together). Nintendo and Shrexbox both played a big role in my childhood.
The only God of War type game I’ve played is Sonic Unleashed. It’s fun, but it definitely has its flaws. Too bad there’s not a pc port of the game. Sega definitely falls into the category you mentioned of studios that regularly delist games in a series and don’t put older games onto newer stuff if they reviewed badly. It will be interesting to see what happens with that Activision Blizzard deal. Although, with the industry going through crazy layoffs I’m not sure what will happen. Hopefully, those people are able to get new jobs. Let’s also hope that the big companies realize that AAA gaming is unsustainable and that making smaller AA games is much more viable.
Let’s hope with the success of Helldivers 2 on pc Sony start putting a bunch of their old and new games onto pc. That way they can be preserved. I also want to play Sony’s “Halo Killers” Killzone and Resistance. Both look fun and have genuinely interesting settings. Sadly, we know from the Insomniac leaks that nothing Resistance related is in the works, there’s only one Ratchet and Clank game slated for the future, and now they’re just working in the Marvel sweatshop like how Activision forced a bunch of their studios into the CoD mines. Guerrilla Games is currently just doing the Horizon series, and if the rumors are true they’ll be remastering Horizon Zero Dawn like how Naughty Dog “remastered” Last of Us 2 (a game that’s only a few years old and still looks graphically impressive. It mostly just contains content that other studios include as free updates or fairly priced dlc). It’s too bad that resources aren’t being used on things people have been clambering for.
Apparently, the reason why they cancelled the Megablocks game is because it would’ve taken away resources from the Xbox One. What they should’ve done was make 4 a launch title for the 720 like originally intended (remember those “leaks” from back in the day? The hideous fake controller with all the extra buttons and c sticks/joy sticks was so funny. My favorite of the fake leaks was the Wii Phone😂) and had the Megablocks game be used to tie people over until the next mainline game came out. Let’s hope the build leaks one day. We got stuff like Dinosaur Planet (the game that eventually became Star Fox Adventures when Nintendo “suggested” they turn it into Star Fox because Krystal’s adoptive brother Sabre vaguely resembled Fox McCloud), Duke Nukem Forever 2001, and a few other incarnations of games we previously thought were dead. Let’s hope a Prey 2 build leaks someday.
Your idea would be interesting to see. Since Microsoft has several studios they should have multiple people working on Halo titles. I’ve wanted an Xcom style Halo where you control a group of ODSTs and marines fighting off Covenant. The game would basically design itself since the Covenant species each fill a specific role, there’s a wide array of different weapons, and they could incorporate different things from the extended lore. They could probably also add stuff like Sentinels, Insurrectionists, Flood, Prometheans, and/or Banished in dlcs. There’s Xcom 2 mods that add Halo content, but they sadly can’t do a complete overhaul of the enemies that would be needed to make this.
More on the topic of Lego Star Wars style games, I once had a dream where there was a Lego game adapting the Cats movie. That film was a dumpster fire🤣. I watched it and there was a total of 8 people in the theater, including my group of 4. Everyone was watching it ironically😂.

I’ve since received the Lego Atari set as a gift but have yet to build it. Too many other things need doing first. Namely stories that need telling and experiencing. As goofy as that sounds, it’s true. Making videos is a ton of work.
Thanks. She’s a good lady. You’ll certainly find this amusing: we got married on the 7th of November. 11/7. Believe it or not, that was her idea. Not because she’s a huge Halo fan but likely to help me remember the date easily. My wedding ring that you took notice of is also a Halo ring.
As for what games she’s played, both of our Nintendo experience is fairly limited. Although, she did own an NES as a child, which is what prompted the fascination behind the Lego set. Neither of us really grew up in that era though. We’re both too young. She possess an affinity for 80’s themed things though, likely due to the fact that her parents clung onto many things from that era. It was a part of their childhood and their nostalgia for those things unwittingly engrained them in her mind as well, I imagine. As for myself, my experience with Nintendo was almost completely Mario. Namely Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi’s Mansion and Super Mario Galaxy. All of which I’d consider to be some of the greatest video games of all time. As you know though, I was an Xbox kid in the end and nothing captivated my imagination quite like Halo.
“Halo killers”. What a funny phrase that I’ve not heard in many years. What a silly concept it is, too. Great things can exist without being the death of others. As you know, I’m certain. Just pointing out the ridiculous nature of such a notion.
Maybe some day the mega bloks game or rather, mega construx nowadays, will finally make its way to a full release. Halo is an untapped gold mine, even now. I’ve never understood why more spin offs haven’t been made. Out source them to other studios, who cares. All they need to do is appoint an advisor to ensure the stories remain consistent. Not necessarily an easy task to accomplish I suppose but certainly possible. The MCU has been doing it for years.

The best Microsoft console is definitely the 360. So many great exclusives. So many fond memories. Really like all the easter eggs inside the block console.

@yatesy117 @@Woodyisasexybeast In terms of reliability, the 360 was their worst console ever.
But in terms of games, it was the best. The PS3 still had more games and more exclusives than the X360, but the 360 also had great exclusives.
I can't think of good single player exclusives for the Xone, except Sunset Overdrive and Halo 6. Did any good exclusive RPG came out for the Xone? What about an exclusive platform game?

    • @Woodyisasexybeast
      @Woodyisasexybeast  4 месяца назад +1

@drPeidos 360 really had some absolute heavy hitters. Halo 3, ODST, Reach and the original Gears trilogy are the best.
can’t think of any RPGs but in terms of platformers, we got Ori during that era which is absolutely legendary. Amazing game
