These consoles really feel like the last generation where you truly owned your hardware and games. I feel like the current gen consoles will just become oversized paperweights once Sony and Microsoft shut their servers down.

@@omegarugal9283 It may not be possible to do that if there are missing chunks of code that require a central server to operate the machine. People would need to make a server emulator and stuff like that.

100% if not this gen then for sure next gen. I know the PS5 is a bit different as they patched the cmos issue and out of the box you can play any disk game fine without connecting alongside blu ray and the like. It was the first thing I tested when I got my PS5 last year. The Xbox Series is 100% not like that though. You have to connect and its very much a brick if you have no internet. I know this doesn't include things like patches for games and what not. I have a feeling the PS5 will be able to have some other method of patches maybe 15 years from now thanks to the modding community but I fully see the xbox just being a brick at some point.

The limited edition console for the Xbox 360 were all pretty great in their own ways, and it might be the console I've seen with the most special editions out there? For Phat consoles my favorite has to be the Halo 3 edition easily, while as for the Slim it's a toss-up between the Gears 3 and Halo 4 consoles.

    • @ForeverNoob14

Mario! I previously had the Gears of War Edition. The sound it made when powered on or off was creepy but it was great. It really fit the vibe of the Gears games. I heavily considered the MW3 model at one point.

I have the Halo 4 LE Console myself and I'm a little surprised to not see more love for it myself, the ornate metal designs on the side are absolutely gorgeous and the sounds it makes are mesmerizing, its really helped the 360 feel even more magical for me, just a shame that my brother broke one of the controllers then it'd be perfect lol

Yeah the Xbox 360 definitely got what I’d deem to be a lot of limited edition console variants. I’ve got a pretty good condition second hand Halo 3 edition that I need to get around to fixing. I got pretty lucky with the price I paid for it. Prices have gone up since I got it. It has an overheating problem but I haven’t opened it up to figure out why yet.

This hit me in the feels. Looking back they were able to tailer their consoles to specific fan bases with strong followings. I still remember seeing the MW3 and gears consoles on display in November 2011 wanting them so bad but not being able to afford them. Once the world isn’t as crazy it would be nice to see consoles with this sort of flair again. I picked up an MW3 console in 2014 and I absolutely love its look.

7:32 - I actually still have that LE Gears 3 Xbox 360 console and if you power it on, the console itself will play a Gears 3 sound effect. Apparently has a little speaker inside for that. It is still my favorite LE console that I've ever owned. 💀

These limited/premium/special edition consoles are from an era when manufacturers wanted to give you the full experience when you bought one of their products. Nowadays, you're lucky if you get a download code for 15 days of whatever subscription service they want to hook with you when you buy any console. My favorites among those X360s are the MW2 for the Jasper board models and the MW3 for the Slim ones. I'm not exactly a COD fanboi but the aesthetics of both them are very appealing to me. I'd wish there's also videos for special editions of PS3 and Wii models coming. Have a good one, MVG and glad you're doing great with your move!

What makes the starwars xbox so cool is all its litte easter eggs. When you open the disk tray there's text that says "help me Obi-Wan, you're my only hope" and there's a R2D2's manufacturers mark on the back of the console. The controller is themed after C3P0, another starwars character, and the controller is also the special D-pad

These LE were sold for about 50-100 Euros more than the normal editions. And as you said, you got bundled disc game, often a second controller and in most cases a larger harddrive. So they were really great value for money - plus the cool design. And you could simply go to the nearest retail store, find a dozen of them in the shelves and pick one up. Good times! Nowadays, it seems nearly impossible to get a Series X Halo Limited Edition.

I managed to win a Crackdown 2 Xbox 360 in a "Download and Win" sweepstakes. It was essentially an standard 120GB Elite with a custom wrapper on it. I sadly had to sell it, along with a large portion of my collection to cover some medical expenses.
I later found out that same version apparently been given out as a prize for a few other giveaways from Microsoft. Good times!

I have the modern warfare 2 360, the copy of modern warfare 2 it comes with is really cool too. It has dev signatures all over the case in silver holographic looking writing. I wish I knew where my copy was lol

I got the Halo 4 system back on release day, trading in my 250GB slim system. It was only £100 to trade in the slim, which was good considering the game was £40, the 2nd controller (different design to Halo 4 controllers sold separately) worth about about £30-40 and the larger 320GB HDD. So considering I would have bought the game on release day anyway, an extra £60 for all the other stuff + a fresh 1yr warranty was too good a deal to pass up.
I believe most of the custom consoles had custom sounds too, for power & eject buttons.

I remember being able to buy pre-modded holiday bundles back in the day, but was only able to grab an rgh2 modded console a few years ago when i had spare cash :(

I've been eyeing the Blue 360E edition to pick up second hand. Still play my Elite regularly!
I love that backwards compatibility with 360 still syncs to the cloud and works with 360 Cloud saves. I'll fire up say Board lands on my OneX on the main TV & if the family needs the TV i just have to save, move to the man cave, boot up the 360 and play right where i left off.

An uncle of mine has a few Xbox 360 consoles so that he could set up his own personal Xbox LAN set up so that he and his friends (and my brother and I, once) could play various multiplayer games in one place, like Halo and Diablo 3. Some of those 360s were limited edition ones, including the red Gears of War 3 system featured here. Granted, they were second hand consoles, but I was in awe at the fact that he had them in his possession.

I'm fortunate enough to own the MW3 Xbox 360, it was my brother's who I believe got it when our original family Xbox 360 died, I ended up buying it off him a few years ago and I still sometimes use it. It's got a nice design and I like the sounds it makes.
