I grew up with lego but got SOME halo mega sets when that initially released but overall was always a lego guy. high school happened, went through my lego dark age, then got to college and started getting back into it, but Lego just isnt the same company in many ways and with their prices (other than their speed champion sets) there isnt much I really want to buy from them. then a couple months ago I thought about Halo mega. Back in the day Mega had terrible quality (inconsistant clutch power / tolerances, parts breaking, low quality feeling plastic, etc. but the sets, figures, pricing, and QUALITY of their sets nowadays is beyond better than what it was. I have now been collecting a ton of the Halo Mega figures and sets (so far two of the newest Ghost set, a mongoose set, and the halo 3 hornet, which are all VERY well made and designed, look amazing, are fun to build, and have neat little details or play features. Ive really been blown away at what Mega has become. and for a FAR cheaper price than Lego. I love the halo figures and their customizability, the weapons and characters you can collect (meanwhile Lego wont even do collectible minifigs for STAR WARS and instead hides the figures ALL behind expensive sets...).
It sucks though because Mega's new pokemon line has been BOOMING and meanwhile halo infinite is currently not very popular so halo mega wasnt selling well causing target and walmart to stop selling halo mega entirely. now I can only find them at Kroger and Meijer (and in small quantities). looking at their lineup they had some good sets in 2019 to 2022 but it feels like this last year theyve been knocking it out of the park despite releasing fewer sets and getting distruibution slimmed down.
Mega does things Lego outright refuses to do or does behind a massive paywall (no stickers, easily accessible cool or popular figures at decent pricepoints or accessability, they listen to their consumers and fans more about ideas or issues [cough, cough, star wars team...], etc.)
Im hoping they come back, and halo infinite has had a LOT of good talk / hype recently and the new halo infinite dev team has been doing WORK. I didnt even play halo infinite multiplayer until this month but I had been playing the hell out of halo MCC on PC over the last couple years trying to unlock all achievements (currently at 80% out of 700+ achievments!).
I have very quickly become a huge fan and supporter for Mega. theyre a good company that listens and supports their fan and community.
Wow! This was incredibly informative. Thank you for sharing your experience with Mega and Lego! After building this set I am much more keen on buying more. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner 🤣
I will always have a soft spot for Lego, but you made some valid points. Especially with price, stickers, and popular characters in expensive sets.

Most of what you said is literally me lol. I was collecting lego for years when I was younger but once I hit high school I got out of it (unfortunate because that's when star wars sets peaked). Now I'm getting back into it during/after college but the sets are just... sad. Smaller and pricier than the ones I have from over a decade ago. I remember getting some of the Halo sets back then as well but I literally could not put them together. The pieces were awful and the directions were even worse haha. This set looks incredible though and I can't wait to pick it up. I've also wanted to 100% the MCC some day and get to 1 million gamerscore. I wish I would have 100% the originals before the servers got shut down but like Lego I was also on a long gaming/achievements break for a couple years so I never did it unfortunately. It's pretty interesting how many things I relate to with your comment haha. What's your gamertag? I'll add you.

Dude, I was seriously confused here! I know MEGA and MATTEL, but at first glance I thought Microsoft as re-issuing the XBOX 360. The box looks waaay too real for a brick-building set.

@@thegoodguy582 That's true, you have to consider the amount of custom/new pieces and the crazy amount of prints though.
@@Conqueredlego most likely has more than enough pieces to make an accurate model, and there would probably be stickers instead of prints if you know lego

After seeing the Lego Atari, NES, HFW's Lego Tallneck, and now this, I would love to get a Lego PS1, imagine putting in something like a Lego Racers black CD inside!
I love it so much that this set had everything printed onto the blocks. My biggest issue with Lego sets is never being able to perfectly align the stickers. This set was a lot of fun to build and a nice throwback to the original Xbox 360 packaging
That looks awesome. I'm a big fan of the Xbox 360 and this set just brought me back to those days.

Admittedly, because people have put stuff like raspberry pi or other things inside lego/lego styled cases im wondering who'd want to turn this mega console into a functioning one
I know someone who's looking into something like this.
Not going to lie. I got this set cause my father passed away a year ago and I remember him playing halo 3 on the 360 back in the day and then I picked up a 360 and got mw2 for him and I to play online together. He was 76 years old still playing call of duty and halo. He played till the day he passed away. Once I find a case that this set will fit into it will forever be on display in my living room next to his og green Xbox.
My condolences 💐 There’s something about that era of gaming that was so special and different. More so being able to share that experience with loved ones made it even more special. These are memories that will never leave us and I’m happy you were a lucky one and able to have those memories with him.
Great price and that seems so worth it to me. Never been very interested in the mega sets but this is awesome.
They knew adding halo 3 to this would make it an instant want for alot of people lol.
True, but it would have also been cool if they had special variants like Viva Piñata or Gears of War. Two other highlights of the 360.
@@CarbyGuuGuu I was 7 when halo 3 and the 360 came out. Loved Halo but man I also have a lot of memories of that viva pinata game (before we got It i remember watching the show for it as a kid, but I always kind of just forgot it existed). Never would have remembered it as a good or memorable game i played as kid (again kinda just forgot it existed), but it really was a good game and a lot of fun to 7 to 9 year old me, just peacefully making a little zoo.
Not big on Mega Bloks but this is incredible. Would have never guessed they would do this console specifically. Would absolutely love a Gamecube.
When I saw this in target i thought it was real! I was like “did they just find these n the back and put them out?’ lol. Took me a few to realize that it was a mega block model.😂
Would be pretty cool if they made another version that’s the original Xbox or 360 S,
with OG halo or maybe a Minecraft 360 version disks and cases

When i saw this at the store, my dad called me over and said they were selling xbox 360s again. I saw it, and i thought it was so cool they were selling them again, then i saw it was Mega, one of the coolest things ive ever seen! It caught me so off-guard.

I just picked this up yesterday at Target. I really wish it had the red ring of death lighting profile.
It never overheats though, thanks to Cortana inside managing all the internal systems

Got one for Christmas. 4th bag into it, some missing pieces. Looked it up looks like it's a common thing. Going to try to finish it like that. Quality not on par with legos. Did finish the controller. Looks cool tho

10:23 wait, so if this is a Halo 3 bundle you could expect a Zephyr motherboard but since it doesn't have HDMI then this is an original Xenon? If that's the case, then I wonder if there's going to be a GameStop special edition with the bolt mod.
I actually played halo 3 for the first time 2 weeks ago on my old Xbox 360. But I’m gonna only 100% the LEGO movie video game. As i has a lot of progress done before I stopped using it since 2017.

Thermal paste became my friend after my 2nd one red ringed. And not the cheap stuff. Once I opened mine up and redid the thermal paste on the chips mine never red ringed again.

This set is not lego its mega so for it to be £150 in the uk is scandalous I'd pay around £90 for it because it's not lego
