    I just dislocated my left knee yesterday, and am currently on a cast. I understand everything that you're saying and I really resonated with it. It slowly kicked in that I won't be able to do the things I loved (dancing) as much or as hard as I used to and I started tearing up. I really hope you're much better and everything goes upwards in your life now!

    Go girl! Thank you for sharing your journey! I have a 3rd time dislocation too and I relate so much to your first clips as I have cried about it today. Glad to see you going back to netball and gym. Hoping I could do the same with badminton and working out in a few weeks/months after therapy too!

    Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video for both yourself and others, that was pretty selfless.. My daughter dislocated her knee when one of the family dogs collided with her knee. She’s on day five now and seems a little behind you in terms of progress.. We’re off to Majorca on Saturday so this is a royal pain!. Thanks again 🙏

    One of my client have recurrent patella dislocation condition. I've been training with her for more than 10 years and still training with her. In all that years she only dislocated 1 time and it was the time when I was absent from training with her for some time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts so candidly. I am 51 and had my first dislocation when I was in 5th grade. Over the course of my life have suffered 8 dislocations and it never gets easier. The recovery is harder mentally than physically. It throws you back years. My last dislocation was two and a half years ago and am still struggling to recover. Trauma and fear are two Herculean things to get past.

      OMG I thought this was just me! I dislocated my right knee for the first time when I was 15 while playing soccer. It went on to disclose several more times and then I had surgery at 16 (fulkerson with osteotomy). Never had another issue with it and I am very active (ran a bunch of marathons in my 20s, still doing gymnastics in my 40s). Anyway, a few weeks ago I disclosed my LEFT kneecap WHILE SITTING AT A TABLE! I had my legs propped up and crossed, and I somehow hyperextended my left left and it caused my kneecap to disclose. It was wild and I was immediately brought back to all the pain and crap I went through as a teenager almost 30 years ago! I am about to start PT for my left leg before resuming serious activities but really hoping to avoid surgery and any more dislocations with my left leg.

    I dislocated my knee a few days ago and I found this video, which helps, knowing there's other people with specific problems like my own. I've dislocated my left knee 29 for awhile now, and my right knee 4 times, I found out my knees were mis aligned by birth, from my mother. I love being active, and so since this started years ago. It's just constant fear and worry that it will pop out. It's like I can't do anything fun anymore because I'm scared it will dislocate. I'm sure yall feel the same way

    It took… 3 months for doctors to tell me I dislocated my kneecap but it was the pop out and back in kind… during those months, to start off I got fobbed off in A&E by a doctor who assumed I was faking it I even had X-rays done and was told it was all normal… I left the place taking one crutch with me…
    I treat this injury as my usual injury which happened a lot when I was younger but just felt all batter within a few days or a week tops.. but after 3 weeks I still wasn’t right and I felt a bit in a way asking myself “is this all in my head?” Because I was asked in A&E if I was just telling myself I couldn’t walk but then I asked “is there something else going on??” I went to a musculoskeletal thinking this was probably ligament thing but when I got there the doctor saw in my X-ray it was not normal! Calcification I’m the joints and possibly a fracture… she couldnt do much for me and sent me to orthopaedics, my knee was examined but me being in pain and squeamish of people touching my knees I was sent for an urgent MRI but was given a brace to wear to help me walk… after my MRI I waited over a month for my results and that’s when I was told it was dislocated and because I had a brace I didn’t need on my knee had some muscle waste so now I gotta do a fuck tone of physio to get my knee functioning again… it’s super hard… I’m back to hobbling/non weight bare on two crutches cos my whole leg is like spaghetti leg since ditching my brace

    Like others are saying thank you so much for this video because i related to everything! Had my first dislocation in Feb on my way to the gym :/ and it was the worst pain (I've heard worse than pregnancy) but now I'm back at the gym finally since end of April and seeing the light getting stronger each week.
    the shower thing i felt to my core, my first shower (with garbage bag) was so traumatic and scary i almost didn't wanna do it again. Not to mention some days during recovery your knee randomly starts clicking or locking which just kills your mood, luckily mine stopped!
    I hope you a crushing the gym as its my place of happiness as well and often times when i don't want to go i remember when i couldn't, best of luck with never getting a 4th. otherwise surgery and that's a whole year smh

    This is my fifth time dislocating my left knee(patella). The first time was during the last semester of 8th grade. It is VERY depressing to not be NORMAL AGAIN. I used to sit on the bleachers by myself while everyone had fun playing… I felt isolated, and basically alone. You don’t really realize how important something is until you lose it… The ORTHOPEDIC recommended SURGERY. I don’t know what I should do… Either get surgery or go into physical therapy, but physical therapy won’t help in the long run from arthritis. Even now when I walk long distances there’s this burn in my knee. What should I do?

    • @andricheli
      @andricheli 17 дней назад

      I had a serious patella dislocation when I was 15. It dislocated a few times so I had surgery (fulkerson with osteotomy was what the did back then). Recovery wasn't fun, but I never had another dislocation after the procedure. I went on to run marathons and am still doing gymnastics in my 40s (surgery was like 30 years ago!). However, I recently dislocated my left knee for the first time ever. My left knee cap isn't sitting in the groove so I guess is also prone to discoloration, although I had never disclosed my left one before. I am hoping with PT I can avoid surgery on the left.

    currently recovering from a dislocated knee and broken foot both opposite of each other. its been 3 weeks since it happened and walking is not an option for me till my broken foot is healed. even standing is really really difficult.
