This video hit me so hard. The end of the video is literally me. No matter how much you prepare physically and mentally it’s still so painful and so hard. I’m on day 7 post-op acl surgery. Thank you for sharing and showing your tears, because I’m feeling it. So many videos and people I’ve watched seemed to be doing so well, not in much pain, not taking pain pills. This has made me feel less alone so thank you.
Yes I felt the same way (lol obviously) but it is very isolating so I hope this helped you know you aren't alone! I hope you recovery is going well though and don't hesitate to reach out!
I had surgery 5 days ago and this is the second time I cried in my life from pain. But after 3 days I was already able to sleep almost whole night. I just dont know how to get rid of swelling. Ive read people get rid of swelling super fast while it seems impossible for me, especially when I excercise 3 times a day. My knee is like twice as big as my other one.
@@carpedownhillem keep your head up!! My swelling is still really apparent too and I’m week 7 post op now! Drinking plenty of water, elevating, and ice consistently is the way to go. Once you get stitches out and your wounds close, ask if you can start massaging the areas. Massage helped me tremendously with swelling! You got this!!
i’m getting surgery in 6 days for my completely torn acl and they drained all fluid(the blood that causes all the swelling) and i can bend it pretty far back, however im aware of the pain im going to endure since my dad who’s a trauma surgeon, told me that it’s going to hurt really bad. I know this comment is 10 months old and your already healed however if this happens to you again, just take the big ass needle in your leg belfry surgery and after because your mobility gets so much better
The last part is so important don't be embarrassed for sharing! Going through a health setback myself and it's so real that those downs are part of the journey too. Hope your recovery is going better at this stage!
I'm here watching your video and I appreciate you being vulnerable and sharing how mentally hard it is not being able to do things while you are recovering. I was not prepared for how hard it would be for me to be stuck at house literally doing nothing for 4 days straight other then PT stuff. I have two boys 3 and 1, and not being able to take care of them and relying on my husband and family to look after them has been hard. No one seems to really understand why I'm so mentally upset even though physically I'm recovering beautifully. I'm literally crying with you because it's so reassuring knowing I'm not the only one going through these feelings and it's normal to feel this way. Thank you for sharing.
Yes even though it feels a bit silly in hindsight I am very glad I shared this video with that part included. It genuinely is the hardest part of the recovery the mental side so I thought it would be comforting for others to see its okay. Stay positive and focus on the small wins! It's a small blimp in the grand scheme of things. Hope the recovery is going well!
You're so strong, thanks for sharing your story and being so real. I don't know anyone who's gone through this surgery and found it easy. I'm on day 9 post-op, after delaying my surgery 7 months to get myself mentally and physically prepared (I was not in a place in my life to get surgery soon after the injury happened). I got to a really positive mindset but it's still extremely hard and feels like such a long road ahead. It's so cool to see this and then watch your more recent videos of you trialing and playing pro in Europe, you killed it!
I had my ACL surgery a little over 2 months ago. Thank you for posting! It was cool to see your progress. It definitely has been frustrating to not be able to move like normal or play soccer at all, but it helps to see other people’s recovery process!
I just got my acl reconstruction and medial meniscus surgery 5 days ago. This has got to be the biggest obstacle I have yet to overcome. It’s a physical yet equally mental battle. I cried so much the first couple of days but I’m definitely getting better at moving around. I’m about 80 degrees flexion and I have my first therapy session tomorrow. You’re so blessed to have heard two pops yet your meniscus is still intact. We got this, we’re gonna kick recovery’s butt!!
Yes we will! I'm sorry to hear about your injury but I hope the recovery is going well and you've been able to keep your mind alright through the first few weeks. I know this is the hardest part honestly. But keep going only gets better from here!
Ugh girl I’m so sorry you have to go through this! Like you said, I don’t think you can truly understand how hard it is until you go through it. I’m almost 2 years out now and still not 100%. I had a really rough recovery, I was on crutches for 3 months if that gives you any of an idea. I got so good at using crutches that I figured out how to use them without my hands so I could carry stuff. I played soccer and had played since I was 3, had never been seriously injured, and then tore my ACL, MCL, and meniscus in a game at the very end of my junior year of hs and missed my entire senior year. I was absolutely unprepared for the mental side. It’s so so hard. Celebrate the little things, stay involved with your sport as much as you can (I coached while I couldn’t play), but you’re already doing great! I love that you’re documenting this, I really needed to see things like this when I was going through it just to know there’s people who understand. Even though you’re constantly surrounded by supportive, amazing, loving people, you just feel so alone. Keep up the hard work!!
Thanks I appreciate it! Yeah 3 months on crutches oh gosh. I had so many break down just about the frustration of crutches during my last ACL recovery but luckily it wasn't very long this time. Sorry you can relate to this but happy you liked the video!
Crutches are just so frustrating. People think they look fun, but if you actually need them it’s a completely different story. I’m so sorry you’re having to go through all this again! I can’t imagine having to do that, it’s my worst nightmare at this point
Im on day 11 of recovering from the BEAR ACL procedure and have gone through very similar emotions especially being like you and hating being in one place for too long. 6 weeks on crutches total, it's been so up and down. It's hard for everyone, I don't think it's easy on anyone. Hope you're on the other side now and things are looking up.
Nice to see that you are recovering well! I basically hit the jackpot and dislocated my knee cap, tore my ACL, PCL and MCL and got it operated it a month ago. Ended staying in the hospital for 14 days lol. Still struggling everyday with the mental and physical pain but its slowly getting better. Yesterday I was finally able to bend my knee by 90 degrees which was a big goal of mine. I just hope to walk without any big problems in the near future, gotta stay positive!
Yes I'm sure thats been a lot. My dad did the same thing years ago. But its not an easy recovery but it sounds like you've got a good mindset! Stay positive! Glad you're making good progress as well! Wish you the best of luck!!
Thank you so much for sharing ❤ I’m on post op day 2 and questioning if the pain was worth it..seeing your story and emotions match how I’m feeling. You are so strong !
Thank you for sharing your story! I am 5 weeks post ACL reconstruction and I was not allowed to walk for the first month. I should already walk now but I don't feel stable and my knee hurts so I still use my crutches all the time. It's been tough with all the "I should be able to do this by now" but I hope for the best!
We are about the same timeline, but dont compare your progress to other ACLers. You got this!! We got this. Rent is due everyday. We just have to safely continue to grind and not forget our little “knee” achievements. 💪
I had my ACL reconstruction surgery on the 24th of July 2023. I was pretty scared until surgery was done. I'm recovering faster than I expected. After two weeks, I could walk without a walker, brace, and I have achieved about 70% knee bending by the third week. I hope you're doing well now....
I had mine 3/8/23. It was rough. Immobilizer for 2 weeks then once the ortho started to unlock my brace and ordered for me to start PT my leg started to come back slowly. Stuck to my home exercises religiously. It is mentally challenging hence you should not be too hard on yourself. Celebrate each small progress (being able to get up by myself, shower, put away the dishes, throw garbage, make a quick meal, vaccuum and more) Do it at your own pace, dont get discouraged and dont compare your progress to other ACLers. Make this your own journey. Im still recovering and still unable to work. But with time, safety and persistence, it will heal. Trust the process. Goodluck!! 😃
Haha that's the same day I had my surgery! Yeah doing better now I'll be posting a 5-6 week mark vlog soon with the progression of the knee. But its really coming along now once it got over a certain hump its got considerably better each day! I hope your knee is doing well too! Thanks for reaching out!
Thank you so much for sharing. First week in recovery, quite alone, I related to you a lot. I am quite drained, I'ma. doctor and I have my biggest exam at the end of my "crutches" time and it's being really hard. So seeing something like this quite helped.
I’m 15 days post op and I can’t do what you’re doing in this video. My leg is still pretty useless, it’s swollen, in pain and its range of motion is still pretty terrible. The mental drainage a surgery like this causes is pretty wild. Thanks for sharing your video!!
Yes its good and bad to watch other people's recoveries because you compare your own but know everyone moves at their own pace so that is also completely normal and depends if you had other tears and things. Regardless though wish you the best with your recovery and you go this!
@@frankreilly4719 Excuse me? For the first 9 days before I was able to meet with my surgeon again, my leg was extremely swollen, so swollen that when I had my first meeting, I needed a lot of fluid drained. I had so much fluid I couldn’t do anything with my leg, scar tissue built during that time as well and made it even more difficult. And I did do physical therapy, still am. So, before you go spewing your little “then it’s your own fault” nonsense, maybe have a conversation with people and find out the details first.
I have my acl surgery in 3 days and I’m really nervous but these videos help me so much. So thank u so much for sharing this and I hope you recover quickly💗
I'm guessing today is surgery day then! I know you will do great and even though you might have pain you will be okay! Focus on each task at hand and slowly the progress adds up! Best of luck!
I am on day 4 of recovery and it’s hard but manageable if you prepare yourself for it. I am very dependable on family members to do everything. It took me 9 months of preparation for it. I am 47 years old, over weight ( lost 50 pounds for this procedure) and I can bend my knee now (over 90 degrees already) and full leg stretch and partial weight bearing using a brace and crutches. I don’t take narcotics, managing pain with just Tylenol and ice since day one. Exercising while laying down, stretching and peddling little by little. We can do this! A good diet and family support is definitely a plus to recover fast! Let’s do this!💪
That's great to hear! I'm glad your recovery is going well and you seem to have a great mindset about it (im sure there are harder days) but keep going!!
I had an disease (pvns) and I had an operation 3 weeks ago, and I completely feel your feelings💔💔💔😔. Believe me, there is nothing in the world more important than complete health.
I got an ACL surgery 2 month ago, I was able to walk with no crutches no nothing after 2 days. I was able to take the stairs too and I only use the pain killers for some sessions of physiotherapist. The doctor was impressed but let me tell you that this is nothing in comparison to the fact that you are able to almost close your leg in such a small period of time, this is impressive!! How do you feel a year after?
Just had my PCL surgery last month. I'm not sure how to say what I'm going through but I'm trying to get through this🙂 this is not easy.... Thank you for this I'm only a month and 12 days in and i just started therapy. I was mentally a little drained from my granny's stroke and her paralysis and I ended up adding to this stress and i live with my gran alone but I am grateful you made this video so I watched it like 5 times just for motivation... Speedy recovery if you still going through it....,☺️
Aw I'm sorry to hear that but it sounds like you're trying and that's all you can do sometimes. Its a one day at a time process. Still have days that I cry about not being able to play yet but just have to be patient. I hope your granny is okay!
@@alyssakwhite22 gran is good. Trying to finish up everything for myself and her as well. I actually reached the 60° bend just yesterday for my knee bending, I'm having a hard time getting to 90°. I miss my sport activities and all... The pain while bending is absolutely unbearable. I just hope i can handle what's coming next. The improvement you have is really awesome.... All the best for further rehabilitation...😁 It's been about 2 months after my surgery. I wonder how much longer until i get to a certain point where I can freely move my knee...
Im one week post operation from my ACL reconstructive surgery using my hamstring as replacement and some possible meniscus repair. (I was not given a brace after surgery, I was told to do full weight bearing with the crutches) Today is the Friday one week after the last Friday when surgery was had. I’m already out of crutches, and not using my cane much either. (I got the cane when I initially injured my knee tearing my ACL fully 9 yrs ago, yes I had a 9 year wait… fell to the bottom of the surgery list a-few times, that’s Canadian healthcare sometimes…) I don’t know what it is I’m doing differently other than a-lot of prayer 🙏🏼 yes I said prayer. Trying to avoid the pain meds and making sure I keep it lifted when resting and ice it often but I’ve noticed I’m more healed than most would be at this point. I can walk with only a slight limp, get a good full leg extend and have been working on the bending slowly and doing my physiotherapy at home each day. I swear I discouraged myself way more due to watching others stories of healing and mental handling of the situation. In comparison to how I feel though…. I feel pretty dang good. It’s a-little awkward adjusting a-few things but not entirely as much as I initially thought… I expected to be using crutches for weeks. Then the cane for a-few more weeks. Only to be shown physical improvement by leaps and bounds each day. I already had a pretty decent pain tolerance before going for surgery but to be witnessing and being going through this myself now I know I 100% overwhelmed myself with thoughts that filled me with anxiety…. The mental stigma messes with you most.. but again for myself prayer has been a constant friend. As well as resting it high and putting some ice on it. Anyone doing research for their own preparation for such procedures just know everyone heals differently. Some are slow and some are a-little quicker like myself it seems. But again I’m shocked how well I’ve been feeling. *I truly hope anyone going through any similar procedures doesn’t let their mental discouragement get the better of them. That will be your biggest battle. I truly only think I handle it mentally so well cause I was walking on it being bad for so long…*
I had the ACL surgery 2 months ago and believe me I feel same.. I still don’t have enough flexion can’t run, jump.. It’s really tough and lonely:( I guess it’s about time and patience. Anyways I just wanted you to know it gets better and better. Try enjoy the progress and embrace yourself❤
Good luck! I had ACL and Meniscus surgery on August 30th. The day after surgery and the day after are the worst days. And I'm at a week and a half and only bending about 30 to 40 degrees. And just starting to be able to lift it some on my own.
Im 5 days after acl surgery. I already reached full extension and now working on bending but I have troubles with leg raises. Im doing them 3 times a day and still with belt assistance. Cannot do it without it yet. Also what I noticed is swelling. I try to excercies a lot, but swelling is not going anywhere despite elevation and ice. When it comes to pain itself, now its fine but the first day I cried 2nd time in my life from pain, trying to get my leg on the couch after going back from restroom. And this pain was like someone would hurt my knee nerve everytime I rotate my knee even by a milimeter. And it was so intense that I was laughing directly after crying like a psycho. It literally took me 20 minutes to get on my bed with extreme pain. I also have to say that I dont use brace at all since the begining.
thank you for your video i’m have the surgery in 2 weeks and it help to see someone similar to my age going through this (not that anyone should have to go through this but yk) your doing great 😊
Currently 3 weeks post op with patellar graft and meniscus repair. 6 weeks non-weight bearing🥲. Videos like this are so helpful for me mentally. Its been a struggle and hearing about other peoples experiences is the only thing keeping me from going insane.
Had my surgery 4 days ago, i don't feel strong pain, just a little bit of numbness and i still got my knee quite swollen. I truly believe that my strongest fight is mental, because i just cant stand so many months without playing soccer. Luckily i was told that in 1 month i should be able to at least go to the gym and train upper body muscles... but damn, so many months without playing with my team really gets me into somekind of strong depression and anxiety
yeah I understand. I definitely did get more depressed the first time around and found it really hard to keep my mind straight. I hope you have some other things you can put some focus into. That will help in getting through the first few months where your mobility is limited.
I’m healing my acl tear naturally and it’s a long and draining process 😢 Been off work for 5 weeks and I’m heading back to work tomorrow 🤞🏽 Doing my own exercises really helped in my recovery . I’m probably at 65% healed but I feel great . Knee will never be the same again but that’s fine koz I’m never playing rugby again lol hope your recovery is a fast one and you’re back doing what you love again ! Keep your head up 💯 the storm will end soon 😊
I'm about to get my ACL surgery 2 weeks from now and I fill my youtube with ACL surgery recovery journey to make it sink in in me (what to expect and maybe just become somehow emotionally unattached by it). I am in school so I am really expecting it to be hard---walking around campus, doing daily things since I live far from my parents, and such, although thankfully I have a 3 weeks break before it starts again. I am not an athlete but I still tore my ACL and meniscus mainly because I did a little stunt during our PE performance in HS. Sucks and I regret doing it but I really can't turn it back now that I am in this crisis.
Yes its normal to have all these thoughts and apprehensions before hand. The process with both the ACL and the meniscus isn't the easiest I won't lie to you but its also not the end of the world. The first time I did both my acl and meniscus I was in HS and had to walk around our open campus so was not easy but if anything I came out stronger and you will too!
How did you tear you ACL? I was skiing 4 weeks ago and on my last slide i fell and torn my ACL and MCL Any of your doctors gave you an option to try recover without surgery ? My knee do not feel unstable that much but on MRI looks like its completly torn (at least thats what the doctors say) I have my surgery set on 11 may i am still in a little pain after injury but i am working on my legs muscles I am just wondering if i really need that operation at all i want is just back to skiing Good luck on your recovery !
Unfortunately even with a partial tear doctors will still recommend you getting surgery because the risk of actually tearing it would be very high especially with something as demanding as skiing. Most important thing that has made the most difference in my recovery was getting my quads as strong as possible before surgery so they don't atrophy too much and recovery is faster. Hope this helped! Good luck!
Yes definitely work on your muscles prior to the surgery, at least that’s what I did and I was able to lift my leg straight out of surgery 😂 My quads are already working I think because I was working hard on my quads until the day of surgery 😂
Noooo I’m scared I’ve had a torn meniscus for a year I’m waiting to see if i gotta get surgery I’m only in middle school i don’t wanna have to crutch around but it hurts so bad and it always pops hurts with motion and it gave out and i fell down the stairs
I’m going through it now and I’m so emotional and I feel worthless I’m only 11days post off and I’ve broke down already 4 times cause this is so hard ! I feel you all the way
So I’m assuming you tore your ACL twice? By the way glad to see you recovering from this. I tore my left ACL a year and two months ago and I just tore my right ACL two weeks ago and going to have to get surgery in a week from now.
Dang sorry to hear that but if it helps know that even though it sucks to tear it twice. I found it easier the second time around having had the experience from the first. And it felt like it went by a little faster. But you got this! Goodluck!
I tore both my acls at a burn boot camp...surgeries 3 weeks apart so recovering both knees. one day at a time...3 months post op and still relearning how to walk right with 2 knees and no good leg to rely on.
Wow I can't say I've heard of both acls happening at the same time so I'm sure thats really hard. But it sounds like you have a good mindset. Your recovery is definitely going to be different to everyone else's so best advice is try not to compare your journey. You got it though sounds like you're making good progress
18 days post op, lateral meniscus tear and ACL reconstruction :( this is really hard. I hate crutches and hate relying on people. Have been able to get 98degree flexion and full extension but can’t raise my leg still, quad is very weak! (Had quad tendon graft). I can’t wait till I’m finally able to walk still got one more week before I can try to walk!
Hi! I'm sorry to hear you tore yours as well but it sounds like the recovery is off to a good start. Losing muscles is very normal and even not being able to raise the leg. It will come back in the next few weeks just have to be very disciplined if you want a good recovery.
Hi I am from India. I had my acl surgery 5 days ago. First day after the surgery was a nightmare for me. I had high fever, nausea, pain. I am able to walk with the help of crutches. Can lift my leg but not with a straight knee, and I can bend the knee upto 60 degrees. The goal for next 8 days is to bend the knees upto 90 degrees and life the leg with a straight knee, my doctor said this today. I got injured while playing football. I had partial tear a year back now it was a full tear. I am not a professional player, but I love to play football. So i was thinking is the pain and suffering worth it, I could have quit playing contact sports and led a life. But decided to go for it. I am getting married in 5 months, hope I will be fine by then. Thanks for your video. It was very motivating to see that I am not the only one breaking down in this pain and lonliness. Hope you are doing well now that it has been 2 months. Please share your progress that wll keep us motivated.
Hi I'm sorry to hear your recovery has started off roughly. The first few weeks are always the hardest mentally and physically. The whole experience can be very isolating which is why I decided to share my experience. you will definitely be up and moving by your wedding and able to dance a bit! I have made two other update videos about my progress on my channel if you want to watch those! If you love football your injury will tell you if its worth it to you. If you miss it and ache to get back on the field then you know it was worth it. But regardless I hope the rest of your recovery goes well and take it day by day!
Dawg I had my first PT session today and did absolutely terrible on the pre therapy examinations (Maybe like 15-25 degree flexion, not able to lift my leg, and not able to flex my quad). Tomorrow's day 9 post op and I'm hella pissed about where I am right now considering that I have to go back to Tuesday the 15th of August and I can't drive or do none of that for a while. Doctor said that I'm not allowed to put weight on my leg for the next 3 weeks which also pisses me off since I'm going to have to use crutches to get around school. Overall I'm not too thrilled about this yet but can't wait till I can get back driving, walking and into the gym, not to mention playing footy again which ain't happening any time soon. But regardless the time will pass and I'm gonna have to do something in it. Let's see how this goes.
Yeah all those frustrations are very valid! Best thing you can do is not dwell on it. Easier said than done but not gonna get you anywhere. It will get better just needs time a lot of people don't realize how badly the beat up our knees in these surgeries so understandable if its very irritated at first. Just keep your head up and take your time crutching.
Also fun fact my ACL from my first surgery was slowly tearing over a 9year span so I dealt with pain for that long and Nov of 2023 I was like alright I’m done with this pain time to go to my trust surgeon lol
First surgery I had to use the tens machine, second surgery I started PT and barely had quad issues. Also I was so I had norco and took half’s for like the 4-5 days I was on it and knocked out mostly lol
What graft did you end up using for both ACL’s? I’m 26 and considering allograft patella, or autograft Quad. Thanks for posting these ACL recovery vlogs! ❤️🩹
I used a patellar tendon graft for both because heard there were more retears with quad and it leaves your knee more stiff. had great success with the patellar tendon graft
I had my acl surgery 2 days ago but I wasn’t prepared for the pain 😭 this is also mentally so difficult.. I get what you mean and I hope you’re well now. Where is the brace for? I only had to wear one a few weeks before surgery. Good luck with your journey. Kisses from the Netherlands ❤️
Yes most people will find the mental part to be even harder than the physical half the time. Obv you saw that from my video but it does get better you have to remember that. I hope the pain is manageable with some pain meds and nerve blocker tho?? Wish you the best that awesome you live in the netherlands i love amsterdam!
Hey! Love the video.. but question for you.. dose your knee get itchy? Around your surgery?? And if it does it’s normal? Or whoever see this . Answer 🤘
@@alyssakwhite22 your knee is just itching or with rash too? Back In Wednesday I was fine but until Thursday rash started coming up little by little and if I scratched it it appears more. I don’t know if you got that ..
I had my acl surgery yesterday. I have a compleat torn MCL ,LCL, and ACL also Torn Meniscus. It really is devastating experience. My body might heal in the future but my mind is not.
@@sonynaidu1666 hey just to update you . Me knee is still not fully back to normal but it really did get better but very very slowly. I live in Thailand. I just did a Spartan race Phuket trifecta weekend on 9-10 November. I’m so proud to survive all this. Thank you for your channel. Back then when it happened to me you video helped a lot. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@alyssakwhite22 oh well the doctor asked me to go physiotherapy for 15-20 days before surgery because my muscles were too weak, i'll have to get the surgery afterall cuz i got acl+meniscal+mcl tear with lcl sprain
Hey I tore my acl 2 weeks ago and honestly I don’t think it even hit me like that, I always saw this injury as something that happened to other people (not me) so I’m really just in shock honestly, but I can’t walk at all, can barely move it without it feeling awkward. Anyway I should be getting the surgery the end of July so hopefully I’ll have full range of motion by then. I’m really scared of surgery itself and the pain more than anything, I think I already mentally prepared myself but for some reason I’m having a really hard time with accepting how hard the first week might be… and also having to miss out for so long. Any advice ?
Yeah I think the hardest part of the injury is one accepting it first. I spent the first few weeks after it happened playing the what if game and it just hurts so much more that way. My advice would be understand things like this do just kinda happen it sucks and you're gonna ask why me but know that you'll come out of it knowing how much you're capable of and a renewed love for the game. As far as the pain, it will hurt but its manageable with the pain meds and nerve blocker. You won't sleep great the first few weeks but you will get back to regular activities. You really just have to practice patience. Good luck though! I hope your surgery goes well and feel free to reach out with anymore questions.
@@BurstWalkthroughs mcl tear is shorter i believe but i can't claim to have as much knowledge about the mcl. either way tho im sure its tough as well so best of luck to you!!
I believe I just tore both my acl and mcl and I am having panic attacks about going to the hospital 😢I’m just laying bed watching videos about acl and mcl surgery
Geez yeah that can't be easy to process but id say a lot of people go through the phase of watching videos of the experience. Its not an easy thing to accept but if you get anything from the videos i hope you see that it'll be okay either way. Day by day

aww im sorry to hear that! ik the first month in general is full of ups and downs and can promise you the set backs are temporary. your knee will circle around and start healing faster. but yeah its hard not to play the what if game trust me i did that all the first month but only gonna make it worse for you mentally. HAHA the cooking part i forgot about lol. but stay focused you got this!
@alyssakwhite22 were you able to stand for long periods at around 12 weeks? I'm only 5 weeks post-op, still on crutches, and I'm trying to see if I'll be ready for work at 12 weeks. I totally underestimated the meniscus repair 😭
@@itsgabbieagain yeah I was on crutches for 5 weeks after surgery but after that I had to learn to rewalk again of course. Hopefully you'll be able to ditch the crutches soon.

The last part is so important don't be embarrassed for sharing! Going through a health setback myself and it's so real that those downs are part of the journey too. Hope your recovery is going better at this stage!
Yes doing much better now but still have hard days of course but thought it was important to share yes!
I just had my ACL surgery and meniscus repair today! Wish me luck on a speedy recovery!
Good luck!!
I just had my ACL and Meniscus surgery August 30th! Seems like the meniscus tear is common with the ACL tears
Yes doing much better now. Still have days where I really miss being able to just run and things like that but I hope your recovery is going well too!
LEO Y Yazmin.❤❤
Of course! I was embarrassed to post that part but I figured that is exactly the part some people need to see and know that its hard on everyone!
Yeah most important thing is to not compare your recovery. Its easier said than done but its just gonna hurt you mentally. Wish you the best of luck!
Glad to hear it! Sounds like your recovery is going pretty smooth! I hope it continues like that! Yes I am doing pretty well now thanks
You should not bend more than 135 degrees im the early weeks due to high chance of stretching the graft, that will lead to instability.
Celebrate each small progress (being able to get up by myself, shower, put away the dishes, throw garbage, make a quick meal, vaccuum and more)
Do it at your own pace, dont get discouraged and dont compare your progress to other ACLers.
I know i’m 5 months late but you need to do your physical therapy if you can’t make after 15 days then that’s your fault
Damn Rip by my 15th day I was off both crutches walking normal
Thanks 😊
I had an disease (pvns) and I had an operation 3 weeks ago, and I completely feel your feelings💔💔💔😔. Believe me, there is nothing in the world more important than complete health.
I got an ACL surgery 2 month ago, I was able to walk with no crutches no nothing after 2 days. I was able to take the stairs too and I only use the pain killers for some sessions of physiotherapist. The doctor was impressed but let me tell you that this is nothing in comparison to the fact that you are able to almost close your leg in such a small period of time, this is impressive!! How do you feel a year after?
On my 2nd day of may ACL surgery! Thank you for posting this! 🙏
Of course! I hope your recovery is going well!
Got my acl surgery 6 days ago. Really cool to see your progress and watching videos definitely helps to cope. Best of luck!
Aw I hope your first week of recovery has been alright! Best of luck!
Glad to hear its progressing! One day at a time but each small milestone adds up trust.@@Robin-fg1cq
Im one week post operation from my ACL reconstructive surgery using my hamstring as replacement and some possible meniscus repair. (I was not given a brace after surgery, I was told to do full weight bearing with the crutches)
Today is the Friday one week after the last Friday when surgery was had. I’m already out of crutches, and not using my cane much either. (I got the cane when I initially injured my knee tearing my ACL fully 9 yrs ago, yes I had a 9 year wait… fell to the bottom of the surgery list a-few times, that’s Canadian healthcare sometimes…)
I don’t know what it is I’m doing differently other than a-lot of prayer 🙏🏼 yes I said prayer.
It’s a-little awkward adjusting a-few things but not entirely as much as I initially thought…
I expected to be using crutches for weeks.
I truly only think I handle it mentally so well cause I was walking on it being bad for so long…*
thanks for posting - I had my ACL done yesterday and this was super helpful
Sorry to hear that but appreciate it and glad it helped you!
Thanks I appreciate it! I hope your recovery goes well too!
I’m having acl surgery done on September 17, 2024
Its been a struggle and hearing about other peoples experiences is the only thing keeping me from going insane.
yeah i totally understand. Last time i was on crutches for 5 weeks so I get how frustrating it is. I hope you're doing okay though!
Perfect Thank you for having documented that.
thank you for watching glad it was helpful!
I’m healing my acl tear naturally and it’s a long and draining process 😢
Been off work for 5 weeks and I’m heading back to work tomorrow 🤞🏽
Doing my own exercises really helped in my recovery . I’m probably at 65% healed but I feel great . Knee will never be the same again but that’s fine koz I’m never playing rugby again lol hope your recovery is a fast one and you’re back doing what you love again !
Keep your head up 💯 the storm will end soon 😊
I appreciate that! I'm sorry you tore yours as well!
I was skiing 4 weeks ago and on my last slide i fell and torn my ACL and MCL
Any of your doctors gave you an option to try recover without surgery ?
My knee do not feel unstable that much but on MRI looks like its completly torn (at least thats what the doctors say)
I have my surgery set on 11 may i am still in a little pain after injury but i am working on my legs muscles
I am just wondering if i really need that operation at all i want is just back to skiing
Good luck on your recovery !
I was semi mobile 2 days after. Couldn’t touch my whole foot to the ground only TTWB (toe-touch weight bearing) for 2 weeks
Had my meniscus surgery 8 wks ago and stii hurting my knee a lot. Can't still go up and down on the stairs ..so frustrating
Goodluck!
That flexion at 11:10 is that week 2 or 1 only because thats a lot
that was 12 days after surgery so I had been working on it for a bit
this video was very helpful for preparing for my surgey thank you!!
No problems sorry to hear you tore yours but glad this helped!
How long did you get your leg to have full extension?
Just keep your head up and take your time crutching.
just had my surgery 3 days ago😖 tore my ACL and meniscus!
Sorry to hear that don't wish it on anyone but you really do come out stronger! Stick with it and let me know if you got any questions!
Just got home from my ACL reconstruction. I’m in serious pain.
Edit *** the pain is actually more like a dull throbbing. Nothing too sharp, Thank God.
Hi! Is this 11:00 possible in just 2 weeks after an acl surgery ??
Yes its possible just depends on how your swelling is and range of motion after surgery.
I had undergone my right leg ACL surgery in 2017
And few weeks ago I broke down my left leg ACL I feel the pain
Mam what type of surgery u had
Fibertape or fibertape internal brace
Please tell me
Got my ACL surgery done 6 weeks back. When did your quads get activated?
They were activated pretty much right after. I had PT the next day and they used STEM on it right away to get the quad pumping.
Acl and bucket handle meniscus tear, surgery day after tmrw and I’m so scared fr
I’m waiting my surgery next week. Wishing me luck everyone
Good luck hope all goes well!!
Answer 🤘
yes thats very normal especially when you're about to go into surgery and they clean your knee it makes it very itchy

How did your surgery go??
I hope your surgery goes well and feel free to reach out with anymore questions.
how many times are you going to physical therepy a week?
I go twice a week right now
@@alyssakwhite22 thanks for answering. And at the beginning? I don't have an acl tear, but an mcl tear. I assume the recovery is pretty similar.
@@BurstWalkthroughs mcl tear is shorter i believe but i can't claim to have as much knowledge about the mcl. either way tho im sure its tough as well so best of luck to you!!
How are you doing now ?
Yes I am back playing currently in Germany!
Day by day
Did you get surgery?
I know the feeling, it's too painful mentally j
when you were crying and saying all that i was fucking crying with you like its been so bad for me for the past few days i am 3 weeks post op and my flexion is literally so bad and there are other things but it just seems hard and i have constant thoughts of what would've happened had i not played that game and i can bear all the pain, its just that i have been seeing that instead of getting better mu strength is getting way worse, things i could do 1 week or 2 week post op i cant do now and it's just so so frustrating also girl i cant cook and trust me IT IS HARD
aww im sorry to hear that! ik the first month in general is full of ups and downs and can promise you the set backs are temporary. your knee will circle around and start healing faster. but yeah its hard not to play the what if game trust me i did that all the first month but only gonna make it worse for you mentally. HAHA the cooking part i forgot about lol. but stay focused you got this!
Did anyone here get medial meniscus repair also? No just me? 😢
I did on my first knee surgery
@alyssakwhite22 were you able to stand for long periods at around 12 weeks? I'm only 5 weeks post-op, still on crutches, and I'm trying to see if I'll be ready for work at 12 weeks. I totally underestimated the meniscus repair 😭
@@itsgabbieagain yeah I was on crutches for 5 weeks after surgery but after that I had to learn to rewalk again of course. Hopefully you'll be able to ditch the crutches soon.
Im on week 3 post acl op. I could use a beautiful house wife by my side ;)
I can't lift my leg and it's been a week 😂. Good for you!
that's pretty normal honestly! I just had a lot of time before my surgery I think is the only reason I could do that
i’m my 3rd month going to pt tomorrow its not easy good luck to us all 🫶
hey 3 months is a great miles stone! yes good luck to you too!
How long does the Extreme Pain last?
I would say 2-3 days
You are very strong girl 💪🏻
