    I'm here watching your video and I appreciate you being vulnerable and sharing how mentally hard it is not being able to do things while you are recovering. I was not prepared for how hard it would be for me to be stuck at house literally doing nothing for 4 days straight other then PT stuff. I have two boys 3 and 1, and not being able to take care of them and relying on my husband and family to look after them has been hard. No one seems to really understand why I'm so mentally upset even though physically I'm recovering beautifully. I'm literally crying with you because it's so reassuring knowing I'm not the only one going through these feelings and it's normal to feel this way. Thank you for sharing.

    • @alyssakwhite22
      @alyssakwhite22 23 часа назад

      Yes even though it feels a bit silly in hindsight I am very glad I shared this video with that part included. It genuinely is the hardest part of the recovery the mental side so I thought it would be comforting for others to see its okay. Stay positive and focus on the small wins! It's a small blimp in the grand scheme of things. Hope the recovery is going well!

    I got an ACL surgery 2 month ago, I was able to walk with no crutches no nothing after 2 days. I was able to take the stairs too and I only use the pain killers for some sessions of physiotherapist. The doctor was impressed but let me tell you that this is nothing in comparison to the fact that you are able to almost close your leg in such a small period of time, this is impressive!! How do you feel a year after?

    Im one week post operation from my ACL reconstructive surgery using my hamstring as replacement and some possible meniscus repair. (I was not given a brace after surgery, I was told to do full weight bearing with the crutches) Today is the Friday one week after the last Friday when surgery was had. I’m already out of crutches, and not using my cane much either. (I got the cane when I initially injured my knee tearing my ACL fully 9 yrs ago, yes I had a 9 year wait… fell to the bottom of the surgery list a-few times, that’s Canadian healthcare sometimes…) I don’t know what it is I’m doing differently other than a-lot of prayer 🙏🏼 yes I said prayer. Trying to avoid the pain meds and making sure I keep it lifted when resting and ice it often but I’ve noticed I’m more healed than most would be at this point. I can walk with only a slight limp, get a good full leg extend and have been working on the bending slowly and doing my physiotherapy at home each day. I swear I discouraged myself way more due to watching others stories of healing and mental handling of the situation. In comparison to how I feel though…. I feel pretty dang good. It’s a-little awkward adjusting a-few things but not entirely as much as I initially thought… I expected to be using crutches for weeks. Then the cane for a-few more weeks. Only to be shown physical improvement by leaps and bounds each day. I already had a pretty decent pain tolerance before going for surgery but to be witnessing and being going through this myself now I know I 100% overwhelmed myself with thoughts that filled me with anxiety…. The mental stigma messes with you most.. but again for myself prayer has been a constant friend. As well as resting it high and putting some ice on it. Anyone doing research for their own preparation for such procedures just know everyone heals differently. Some are slow and some are a-little quicker like myself it seems. But again I’m shocked how well I’ve been feeling. *I truly hope anyone going through any similar procedures doesn’t let their mental discouragement get the better of them. That will be your biggest battle. I truly only think I handle it mentally so well cause I was walking on it being bad for so long…*
