Finally a video where somebody talks about pain that they have. I had my ACL reconstruction done yesterday. Pain seemingly comes in waves for sure. Messed up and almost fell and caught myself with my leg I had surgery on.... felt like my hamstring was gonna explode lol... mine was just a regular hamstring graft. Thanks for the video, way better than most of the videos I’ve seen on RUclips.

I'm currently 4 days post-op and was very surprised that yesterday and today I haven't needed to take any pain medication as I have very little to no pain laying in bed and crutching around. Thanks for making this. I had ACL reconstruction 8 days ago. My main problem has been pain in my calf muscle which got really bad about 3-4 days after surgery. The big thing for me is keeping on top of your pain medication, just because you feel fine doesn't mean you're over the worst of it. I wish I'd known that a few days ago before I was lying awake all night in total agony.

Im happy that you’re doing well but I’m starting to really think something is wrong with me. Firstly, my doctor never gave me any instructions on PT or any leg mover thing. I saw him a week after for a dressing change and the following week for removal of stitches. I’m going to a PT finally in two days. So it’s been two weeks and my leg will not straighten enough to walk at all and it hurts so much to put weight on it. I keep seeing story after story of people walking and having little pain. My leg puts me in tears multiple times a day and there’s no way I can walk. It’s really starting to seem like my doctor didn’t do right by me. 😭

It's weird. I was told to be non-weight bearing early on and didn't walk without crutches until day 15. But it wasn't, at least apparently, for the presence of complications in the surgery.

Hey! Sorry about your ACL :(
I have a few videos along the way of my recovery, but for me it went like:
      - Walking without crutches (brace locked) after 1 week
      - Unlocked brace & walking better around 2-3 weeks
      - Jumping at 4 months
      - Pretty much normal at 6 months
      - Now i'm about 7ish months post-op and I feel pretty much back to my old self, but I still feel a little scared about my knee sometimes & i have a sports brace for a year!
But it really depends on how strong you were before surgery, your physical therapy, and your own body! I did therapy 2x a week for 5 months, then 1x a week for the last month.
Hope that helps though :-) I hope your recovery goes well!!

i had surgery 15 days ago. i was expecting major pain but to my surprise it really wasn’t as bad as i expected; however, the past few days have been very painful, specifically working on flexion or working around scar tissue by moving my knee cap. i’ve now learned that i really need to keep it moving as much as i can during the day because otherwise i become very stiff. i hope you all have been doing well post-op or that your upcoming surgery goes well. it’s not as scary as you think. you’ll get back to your sport soon. you got this. rehab is hard. you can do it. (i’m telling this to you but also to myself, i still have a while to go) 🤍
