One problem with credit card travel insurance is these are "named peril" policies. Trip delay from VISA cards (CSR, VX, etc) only covers 4 hazards: weather, mechanical failure, skyjacking, or strike. What isn't covered? Missed connections, crew delay, crew timeout, ATC ground stop, etc. If you're delayed 45 minutes because your flight crew arrived late and that causes you to miss your connection and get stranded at that airport, the card insurance won't cover that. These policies are crafted to meet the cost structure of what card marketing departments are willing to pay, not confer the maximum benefit to the traveler.

Personally I consider having at least one credit card with Priority Pass mandatory. The amount of time I spend on layovers with cheap rewards flights is high and frequent. The amount I save in airport food alone could pay for my annual fee! The Venture X already pays for itself so lounge access is basically $400 back in my pocket.
