One question I have though is how complicated are paying taxes for you guys? I have a traditional job but I also have a small business that is just extra income for me and I have a CPA help me with it and even then it's a ton of bookkeeping to be on top of haha. So just makes me wonder how complicated taxes would be for you guys.

So it’s a ton of book keeping (we aren’t very good at it, and taxes take FOREVER hahaha) definitely going to be one of our first hires when we can.

Ooh that’s amazing!! Once you get that Travel Bug, there’s no going back 😩 hahaha. As for your question, consistency is definitely super important - especially in the beginning of your content creation career. Even when no one was watching, we held ourselves accountable to once per week on RUclips & three times per week on IG & TikTok. This is mostly just for YOU to get into the flow and really get comfortable with the whole process. As well as earning those first subscribers & supporters.

With Travelpayouts (the brand we spoke about in the video) you can get started right away - with no requirements in terms of audience size. All that matters is that you have some sort of blog or travel content to promote the affiliate links on. The amount of money you make is dependent on how many sales you convert with your links. So for that reason, a bigger audience will usually = more money from affiliate marketing. But some people make more with a smaller audience, because they have a highly engaged community, and are in a hyper specific niche. Either way, our biggest tip is to always be authentic & never promote anything that you wouldn’t personally vouch for!
how much money do you spend per month overall? including plane tickets, health whatever, hotels, food, all of it, what's your total monthly expenditure as travel vloggers?
Great question! It varies wildly depending on the destination that we are traveling to for the month. But we’d say we spend anywhere from 4-8k a month on average between Airbnb’s, food cost, activities, business expenses & flights. With some months being significantly above or below that range.
Nice video and appreciate the transparency. Some other revenue sources or cost offsets to consider 1. Paid sponsorships at hotels/resorts. You get a fully paid holiday and they can leverage your authenticity for reviews. 2. 1-1 consultation for places you have been. Easily 150+ p/hr and can eventually become your digital content. 3. Incorporate as a business and all your travel, expenses and equipment is tax deductible (which you may already be doing). Keep traveling and vlogging in 2024!
