  • The approach to and from a pedestrian crossing is marked with white zigzag lines. It means that you must not park on them or overtake the leading vehicle when approaching the crossing. Parking on the white zig-zag lines would block the view for pedestrians and the approaching traffic.
White zig-zags lines are dual enforcement which, means the council can issue tickets to vehicles parked. Furthermore, the Police can also issue to vehicles parked in contravention. However, the Police fine also carries three penalty points. You cannot park on these at any time.
The white zig-zag lines were first introduced to the Zebra crossings in 1971.

Are you allowed to stop on these lines when waiting for the lights to change etc? Or must they be kept clear?
