Being an auto glass installer for over 30 years. I recommend rolling down the window it won't be such a pain in the butt put it back on and you will not scratch the tint if you have that on the glass. Great video love your Channel.
Great video, very helpful, I’m a mom with no experience on this stuff and I was able to remove my door panel and put it back on, WITHOUT BREAKING ANYTHING!
A much easier way to to pull this panel off is to NOT lift up when you pull the panel off. The part that hangs over the Door sill is actually also clipped into the door panel. Just pull straight back and it will release, then you just have to push the door Straight back with out all the frustration of setting the sill before you can push it in.
Really wish I'd known this ahead of time, but can confirm this is *THE* reason you're so frustrated trying to put your door panel back on I'd been screwing with it for like 45 minutes getting so frustrated once I realized this it took me 30 seconds to finish
@@NICUofficial I agree!! Had trouble reattaching the door panel because I lifted the panel off (as Jon shows) instead of pulling the panel straight off (leaving the sill attached). Way easier to put it back on if the sill is still attached. This video should be be revised. Other than that issue... Great video! Thanks Jon
Jon you have some of the best explained install videos on 4Runners! Hands down best! Hoping you will do more install videos for 4Runners…you really shine here!!
@@TRDJon or even more basic maintenance videos! You could teach just about anything to anyone I can tell…seems so natural to you. Keep up the great work.
Damaged my side mirror housing & had to replace the whole thing. This video was very help n getting to the plug and getting the panel back on. Thanks for posting this.
Glad to see I wasnt the only one that fought a little to get the panel back on ... yes, patience pays off, keep looking at it from different angles and it will happen LOL. Thanks for the tutorial and heads up on the cables.
Great video, you were right about the water bottle. :) 1) I put some tape around the white clips to help keep in place. 2) roll the window down and start from the front and push towards toward mirror when putting the door panel back.
You DO NOT lift up as you remove the panel. You pull straight out leaving the felt window trim attached to the door. It is damn near impossible to try to re-attach the door the way shown here and you will damage your clips and plugs. Much Much easier if you do as I described. Pull straight out! Then re-install is super simple.
Did the pull up method, worked decently but yeah, putting It back is a hassle. Better to slide in the mirror side first then work back when installing the panel back in
About to tackle this project this weekend. Installing aftermarket door speakers. Even though I watched this once like a year ago...I remembered that you did this. Wish me luck. Haven't seen much from you lately, hope all is well. UPDATE...I see that you have been doing vids. For some reason, they don't show up like they used to? Hmmm..that's odd? New RUclips algorithm to mess up the views I guess???
Thanks for the video. I am getting ready to replace the weather strip trim on the top of the door on both front doors. Do you have a video on doing that?
@TRDJon just an update. The video helped greatly! I replaced the interior window gaskets tonight and the door panel was a PAIN to get back in the metal trim on the door. My truck is a 13 SR5 but got it done. Thanks again for thr video!
Awesome video. Quick question. Are you able to take that gloss black door handle piece out? I have it brushed and want to get rid of all of the brushed pieces in my limited. Thanks!
@@TRDJon cool thx! I’m probably going to get it hydro dipped I don’t know if you know what that is but did you see any clips for it at all when the panel was opened? I know this was a while ago though loo
I removed the panel to swap door handles and now my driver side rear passenger door doesn’t open the door from the outside. It makes a weird sound when pulling the handle. Any advice/suggestions on how to fix this.
Bro what are my chances changing speakers without removing those 2 cables for locking mechanism? (If I’m not doing sound deadening). Some what concerned that I might screw locking mechanism. I’m thinking if I could use a cord or something to support the panel from the door and fix the speakers from under. Checked with a shop and labor for 4 Focals are $100. And they said they will disconnect the speakers from lift gate. I feel like I could do myself if I’m doing Focals as they are direct plug and play. For stock headunit + Focals with an amp the shop quoted me insane price. 4Runner is definitely not that quiet vehicle to invest that amount of money imo.
Thanks for this video! Seems obvious but I believe you'll want to make sure your windows are rolled up all the way before you begin (rather than have them down all the way or half way down)? I'd be the idiot that would start this project with the windows rolled down. haha

So the part thats hanging over the sill is able to separate from the door card once you pull back on the door card?

This video saved my ass. I was freaking out unable to get my door panel back on. Thanks for your video.

Another great video! Do you have any showing how to remove the rear cargo area lower side panels?
Exactly what I needed thank you.

I slammed my head in the door just to feel something other than frustrated! Lol
Great video my dude

This is why I’m here. My car door is only hanging from clips right now cause I couldn’t get the top in.

You can do it! ANd yea most likely, unfortunately you aren't the first to let me know that.
Excellent video. I needed this to replace a worn door check.
Should the window be in the up position or down position?

Do I need to remove the panel to access and clean the window switch contacts?
Great video buddy...I've been wanting to see this.
Thanks!!! I hope it was helpful

Does this apply to a 2010 4runner and 2016? I’m try to replace my 2016 4runner door panels but the only cheap ones I could find are off a 2010 runner
I feel the doors should be the same.
Hahaha, love the water bottle comment. Definitely don't have any kids around when you're cursing and swearing
Which on talks about sound dampening
Think it’s the second video

To be honest if you have a second person it’s completely possible for them to just hold the door and you to undo the speaker
Thank you, appreciate your input..👍🏻👍🏻

Getting that door panel back on sucks
getting it back on is a bi--h
