3:44 omega 3s are actually found in algae naturally, which the fish eat in order to have omega 3s themselves, and amino acids are in everything, not just meat. B-12 *used* to be found in plants because it was in the ground, but since we have done so much industrialized farming and sanitizing of the ground, even animals have to be supplemented in order for their flesh to contain B-12. So no, these nutrients are not only found in meat; they are *more commonly* found in meat (because no one talks about the other alternatives that don't unnecessarily take away lives.)

just a heads up for people that see this.b-12, omega-3s and amino acids are not only found in animal products. B-12 is made by bacteria not animals. and our livestock is supplemented with it, so its best to just get a b-12 supplement or eat b-12 fortified foods. Omega-3 precursors are found in many plant based foods like flax seeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, walnuts etc. The body then converts these precursors into omega-3's. And amino acids... I don't even know what to say about this one. LOL. Literally every single plant you could possibly consume has amino acids. Finally this video is about being plant based, not vegan. The inconviniences of sourcing of foods is insignificant to the largescale unnecessary exploitation of animals. It is much more to do with how we were conditioned to believe is the norm of eating meat & the need of the hour is to become aware & educated about where our food comes from & the practices involved.

From a study on dietary calcium and bone fractures "Dietary calcium intake is not associated with risk of fracture, and there is no clinical trial evidence that increasing calcium intake from dietary sources prevents fractures." That study was form 2015. ALSO, there have been studies showing that an overabundance of calcium causes bone fracture and other bone issues. Mic the Vegan posted about this quite a while back on his RUclips channel and I think some studies even found an increase in osteoporosis in those who consume a lot of (i.e. too much) dietary calcium. Please fact check before posting this info. A simple google search of "is calcium related to bone fractures" pulled up the general consensus.

Why didn’t you talk about animal welfare? Like yeah I get this video is about health, but what about the mental health of not being responsible for the killing and consuming of animals? Not even a fucking mention of the animals. You did mention the environment, and that’s why I’m vegan, but most people, including me, go vegan because eating animals in our country is wrong.

Never place a lot of the meat and dairy products with more sustainable options supporting organic grass-fed meat sources if I feel the need to eat meat which is typically once a day as we are entering the colder months of the year and I live outside. When the weather warms up again I always opt for more of vegetable choices. Feeling Crohn's disease and having an episode as of late not because I went vegan because I got depressed after some things happen that shook up My Life. Going vegan definitely helped me be more aware of what I'm choosing and why I'm choosing the foods that I consume making sure the choices are healthy and are for nutrition and not out of boredom.
I attempted the past 2 years to gain a more grounded understanding of foods why to choose them when to eat them because it all matters.
Phil definitely more empowered to give it a go knowing that there's more to eating than just what we eat but also how we eat.
Some poor habits that were around eating would be eating with my mouth open and inhaling air which caused more gas/ bloating. Making sure to chew more allowing my body to work more efficiently. Drinking alkaline water choosing quality over quantity of everything from water to food. Full for those that have invested into mock meat options and substitutions however I don't care for the mock meat necessarily. I am inspired to replace the foods I ate before with ingredients that are wholesome. It's just a mock meat options didn't satisfy the craving for me and everybody's different it made it harder and I would then just end up breaking down and getting a more junk I am learning that there are more meat substitutes out there than just soy versions and TVP like mushrooms and the different varieties and the different ways to prepare them.

The same can be said for the carnivore diet. It is the over consumption of carbs, sugar and chemicals in processed food that cause most of our problems. Some grains contain gluten, which causes all kinds of problems in certain people and pets. Everyone is different. There is no one size fits all when it comes to diet. Eat whatever makes you healthy and happy.

B12 is synthesized and absorbed in the small intestine (not just further down in the intestine as the commonly circulated myth goes) from cobalt, which is found in ample amounts in fruits:
*_«In man, physiological amounts of vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) are absorbed by the intrinsic factor mediated mechanism exclusively in the ileum. Human faeces contain appreciable quantities of vitamin B12 or vitamin B12-like material presumably produced by bacteria in the colon, but this is unavailable to the non-coprophagic individual. However, the human small intestine also often harbours a considerable microflora and this is even more extensive in apparently healthy southern Indian subjects. We now show that at least two groups of organisms in the small bowel, Pseudomonas and Klebsiella sp., may synthesise significant amounts of the vitamin.»_*
*_«Human jejunal and ileal contents and ileostomy effluents were examined for the presence of free intrinsic factor. This was detected in 9 out of 10 jejunal and three out of five ileal aspirates and in one of three ileostomy effluents studied. The intrinsic factor in the ileal effluent was shown to be physiologically active. The presence of free intrinsic factor in the small intestine has considerable physiological significance in maintaining the enterophepatic circulation of vitamin B12. It would also permit the absorption of any free vitamin B12 produced by ileal bacteria.»_*
*_«The content of the Co [cobalt] in 5 μl of apple, pear and Korean mandarin juice was identified as 150, 45 and 100 pg, respectively.»_*

The only thing “wrong” with being vegan is that its becoming a trend and a lot of companies are starting to make vegan substitutes that are high in carbs and highly processed or full of sugars for a lot of money (more so than their counterpart) when it’s actually cheaper to make, just because it’s labeled as healthy or organic. If you are going vegan please eat whole foods and complex carbs, micro nutrients and replace sugar with stevia every now and then. I think its ok to have a Beyond burger in a special occasion, but eating mock meet every day is worst than eating actual meet (to your body obviously). Im also aware there’s mock products out there that are very healthy but these tend to be super expensive and someone starting a vegan diet might avoid those because of the price. When in reality eating whole foods can be super nutritious and inexpensive eat vegetables and fruits! IMPO

@@catleigh1540 Veganism isn’t a diet, but it affects your diet directly. And unfortunately it’s becoming trendy for all the wrong reasons and there’s a lot of miss information out there. So people are consuming unhealthy amounts of carbs and sugars because these companies that create products don’t care about the consumer at all and are trying to capitalize on the market. Selling these faux meet and labeling them as “healthy” just because it’s vegan. Im trying to say is that vegans should eat more whole foods instead of processed. I don’t know why you are trying to make me look like I don’t know what I’m talking about when that’s not even the issue I’m discussing. Cheers!

Hey guys, I need some advice. I've been a vegan for over a year now and I think I'm really struggling with the fact how many people still eat meat and don't give a damn about animals suffering. Even when I try to talk with some of my family or friends it's the standard "but that's just how the world is", "but humans are meat eaters", "oh stop, you've probably read some bs on the internet" or downright saying they love meat too much to give up eating it. It's like they are so obsessed with eating meat that even knowing perfectly well that an animal had to die for this, they completely ignore it, pretend that animals don't feel, naively choosing complete denial just so they can keep enjoying a burger. Whenever I see a meat shop that has a picture of a happy pig on it I feel like that's literally one of the most f**ked up and disturbing things I've seen, Like what's that supposed to mean, an animal was happy to die just so you can have a 5 minute pleasure you could completely live without? Family dinners are a struggle, going to buy groceries and seeing so many corpses proudly displayed is too etc.
I don't know guys, I've noticed that I find it harder and harder to cope with this, many days I find it impossible to foucs on simple tasks thinking of it all. And don't worry, I don't plan to go no-vegan, but I really need some advice from people who've been through something similar because it's been really bad for my mental health.

This video has so many things wrong, veganism is NOT a diet : "Veganism is a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude-as far as is possible and practicable-all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals." - Vegan Society . This video only describe a plant based diet. Veganism is NOT a diet, it's not designed to improve one's health but to save (animals) lives and reduce (animal) suffering (the fact that a whole food plant based diet CAN be healthy is just a happy little accident). It's the refusal of Speciesism (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speciesism). Regarding the plant based diet, some things are also wrong : A plant based diet is not necessarily more healthy and a plant based diet can also be high in fat ( not necessarily a bad thing). Regarding skin health that can be true (improvements) when someone reduce their dairy consumption (here's a study , that's not hard to find on google scholar www.karger.com/Article/Abstract/325580 ). Regarding bone health : journals.lww.com/co-endocrinology/Abstract/2020/08000/Plant_based_diets_and_bone_health__sorting_through.9.aspx . Amino acids and omega 3 are NOT only in animal product , amino acides are the building block of proteins and plants have proteins (regarding omega 3 ,that's a bit complicated because that's true that most plant based food don't contain some form of omega 3 (epa and dha) but those can be either supplemented or are synthesise by the body from ala (available in a lot of plant based nut like flaxseed, chia, canola oil...)(lower conversion rate). Regarding B12 it's primordial to take a B12 supplement (it's VERY important)

One big misconception too-? We don’t eat HONEY! Some people may who claim to be Vegan, but, I would say there’s NOTHING ethical about the way honey is made/harvested. (From gassing bees, to clipping the wings off the queen bee, for those curious please look up “Honey Industry in 5 minutes”).
It’s important for EVERYONE (Vegan, plant-based, or not) to supplement with Vitamin D (D3 vegan source is Lichen) and B12. I cannot suggest learning more about health through Dr. Michael Greger’s videos here on RUclips through NutritionFacts and he has a NON-PROFIT website full of information.
As for Omegas which some feel you can only get from fish is incorrect. Fish get their omegas from algae and so it’s good to supplement through algae oil, that is the most readily available to absorb easiest otherwise you can eat walnuts, chia seeds, ground flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, and more.
Before this video was ever put out, I wish more information was shared and with the sources of where they heard some stuff, and when I say sources, I mean ones not funded by meat/dairy/egg (or others who’ve got invested interest that are within those lobbies pockets) and other industries.
NutritionFacts by Dr. Michael Greger shares studies, all sorts of studies. Shows whose invested into specific studies and share the FACTS vs FICTION.
Anyways. Have a great day and remember. Always be kind to yourselves, the planet and each other.
