  • An increasing number of celebrities are embracing a vegan diet - for health reasons, for the planet, and for the animals. From rappers to actors, to TV personalities, many are adopting a plant-based diet. Here are 11 celebrities and their vegan journey before and after.
Kevin Smith - The filmmaker went vegan in 2018 after suffering a massive heart attack. According to his ethical vegan daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, Kevin Smith is now the healthiest he has ever been.
Evanna Lynch - The Harry Potter star adopted a vegan lifestyle for ethical reasons. She previously suffered from an eating disorder, and though it was not a magic cure, exploring vegan nutrition helped mend her relationship with food.
Will.I.Am - After a trip to the doctor, Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am went vegan to help lower his blood pressure and cholesterol. Now, he also sees the ethical side of living vegan and has rapped about it in recent hits.
Simon Cowell - The English TV personality went plant-based ahead of his 60th birthday. He noticed a massive shift in his health and energy levels after making the switch.
Lewis Hamilton - Six-time Formula 1 Champion Lewis Hamilton went vegan in 2017 after watching "What the Health." He routinely uses his Instagram account, with a reach of over 15 million, to educate his fans on animal welfare issues.
Miley Cyrus - The star went vegan in 2014 following the death of her dog Floyd. Cyrus leads by example by sporting ethical vegan fashion on the red carpet.
Mena Suvari - Like Hamilton, Suvari adopted a plant-based diet after watching 2017’s “What the Health.” Since going vegan, she has overhauled her wardrobe and donated all of her animal-based clothes.
Kim Kardashian West - In 2019, KKW revealed that she started following a plant-based diet to help manage her health conditions. Her kids are following suit. That same year, the fashion mogul had all of her furs redone in faux and is now 100% fur-free.
Steve Harvey - TV host Steve Harvey ditched animal products in early 2019. He has been benefiting from the plant-based diet, claiming that his cholesterol levels are even lower than his cardiologists’ levels.
Craig Robinson - “The Office” and “Brooklyn 99” star Craig Robinson ditched meat and alcohol in 2016. What started out as a trial for six months has now turned into a full shift to a vegan lifestyle.
RZA - The Wu Tang Clan rapper ditched meat in the 90s, and has since gone vegan. While eating chicken wings, RZA says he made the connection between meat and animals. He told podcast host Joe Rogan: “I never ate it again.”

I had come very close to losing my mobility at age 54. I was taking shots in my knees of Cortizone and right before Thanksgiving I bought a cane. During Thanksgiving break I started reading about the plant-based whole food diet way of eating and its health benefits. I started educating myself and on December 12, 2019, I went cold turkey, not just vegan, but vegan and whole foods only - Nothing processed and no oils. Within five days one knee stopped hurting. Within 12 days the other knee stopped hurting. I now go up and down stairs six or seven times a day, I walk my dogs three times a day, without trying I have lost 32 pounds - it’s amazing to me. So far I’ve had one coworker to change and do the same because of the effect that she sees that it’s had on me. I can honestly say I have never slept better in my life. I have never been less hungry. I have never eaten as much. I’ve never experimented as much with cooking new things and trying new foods. It literally makes me happy from the inside out.

because of the incredible difficulty of getting enough nutrition/calories/balanced amino acids on a vegan diet, you may feel better in the short/medium term.. this is mostly due to fasting/calorie restriction and catabolising your own protein for your bodies base needs (which releases a lot of adrenaline making people feel energized/well in the short term)
over time these deficiencies and catabolistic processes will take a severe toll on your body/mind. Please remember, short term, fine... but you NEED animal products/cholesterol and bioavailable animal forms of vitamins in your diet, there simply isn't a way around it.
Veganism is damaging to your health, the environment and animal/wildlife life. Monocropping and this "trend" causes far more death and destruction than any responsible meat eater ever could. The answer is regenerative farming, primarily of grassland restoration which by definition includes animals/ruminants

don't do it buddy. it's actually a clever scam to sell you garbage plant food with no real nutritional value whatsoever. The markup on animal foods aren't as high. Vegan food is almost always very or more processed. Plant vitamins have extremely low absorbtion rates. like 1/30th of the vitamin A / betacarotine in a carrot actually gets converted into a form of vitamin A you can use. Veganism is terrible and most people quit ( for a reason ) you'll feel good for a few months, a year maybe. then you will start to degenerate because of lacking vitamins. There are over 50 minerals and nutrients you can't adequately get from eating plants. Probably, you wont believe me because you trust big media more than some dude on the internet, right. Everyone says plants are healthy! there even are (chuckle) studies proving it! (lmao) anyway
once you have suffered a few years on veganism with bloating, gut issues and brain fog maybe you will remember this post and eat a big steak. Preferably completely raw. Then you will feel for yourself instantly... you're systems need meat to optimally function.

People often tell me that I must have great willpower to which I respond, I actually have LOUSY willpower but thankfully being vegan doesn't require willpower. As long as I can survive without harming animals, I want to do that.

I am a vegan and I would like to say that the resistance often comes because people feel that they have to be on one side or the other. But that isn't true. an idea is to just have a vegan day twice a week and see how you feel. Perhaps you will reduce it to 1 day a week or up it to 6 days and have a cheat day. Either way adding more plant-based foods will benefit you. You don't have to be 'vegan' to get some benefits is what I am saying, just adding 1 day a week can help. Of course, fully plant-based is probably better than not, but eating 14% more plant-based (1 day a week) is better than 100% non-plant based. Of course, this is about you personally and your health, it doesn't even get into the environmental benefits or animal benefits. Additionally, fellow vegans let's share the message without judgment, this isn't about shaming people. We all have the right to choose and that shouldn't be met with judgment. I cringe when I hear vegans say other people's food is disgusting, let's educate and elevate not judge. Let people make up their own minds once they have the facts.

I’m glad to hear that Steve Hardy changed his diet to vegan as the Standard American Diet is especially deadly for Black people. 2 of my best friends have been Black, and over time so much, m first friend died of her Sickle Cell disease. My current friend got me interested in veganism, and the change helped me get out of a wheelchair at age 60., and walking daily, doing my 10,000 steps. No more 200 lbs., 8 lbs. lighter and wearing a size 4 in jeans. Much better life! No more arthritis, asthma, eczema, high load pressure of cholesterol. I am a 71 year young senior taking no meds.
The meds the doctors give for these lifestyle diseases never get one well, it makes more for the doctor and slowly poisons us.
My mom and sister both died of breast cancer, my dad and grandmother of Alzheimer’s, mom had 2 hip replacements, her sister has both knees replaced, my aunt’s daughter-in-law got knees replaced too. No blood relation, of course, but the cause of all these health disasters was the food!

I didn't think that animal products outside of meat would harm the animal, but I decided to go Vegan as a 30-day challenge on October 14th 2019 to see if my autoimmune & Heart Disease symptoms would subside. I decided on day 3 after feeling a boost of energy, cleared sinuses, and a ton of reading about animal cruelty, that I'd never turn back. Speaking for myself. I follow a plant based diet. I hardly eat any junk food. I aim for 10/15 different plants a day. Try do do an 80% plant 20% other per day. As a rough guide. I'm not obsessed. I went vegan last year in April mainly due to health reasons at first but then as I progressed it became for more ethical reasons. I suffer from gout which is a form of painful arthritis that effects the joints. I made the correlation between purines and animal products which is what made me go vegan in the first place. Ever since starting, I have not had one gout flareup, I have lost about 25 pounds, have more energy, and do not feel like crap after eating. I have more stable energy levels throughout the day and have a better sense of well being. What I have found useful is to not think of a plant based diet as restrictive but instead apply the substitution method. Think of your favorite foods and just replace the animal products with a plant based alternative. For example, if you like eating crispy chicken burgers, replace the crispy chicken patty with the plant based version of it, replace the cheese with a plant based cheese, and if it has mayo replace that with vegannaise. You can apply the substitution method with any of your favorite meals. Plus NO CALORIE COUNTING!

99% of the people viewing this video are probably vegan/vegetarian (the other 1%, trolls). So why do you continually use the term "vegan diet" when the correct terminology should be "plant-based diet?" For example, when you mention that Beyonce and Jay Z dabble in eating a vegan diet for periods of time. What does that even mean? So, let me get this straight. While on the "vegan diet" they are against the exploitation and cruelty to animals, but otherwise, hey, what's the harm. If this were a YT channel that had a healthy mix of vegans and non-vegans, then throwing around the term "vegan" where "plant-based" would be more appropriate wouldn't be objectionable because most of the non-vegan population look at them as interchangeable.
I'm not trying to be a persnickety stick-in-the-mud. I'm just of the belief that we're de-emphasizing the importance of being vegan - namely, against animal injustices. Okay, that's my two cents. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

I'm essentially a pescetarian who avoids dairy products as much as possible...and when I do eat seafood I try to stay low on the food chain (clams, oysters, snails, etc.)... I don't have a philosophical problem with wild-caught animals, but don't hunt myself so very rarely eat them. I eat a few eggs here and there, such as you find in traditional Asian markets, many/most of which are not factory farmed, but semi-wild in many cases, running freely nearly everywhere (even in the huge city of Hanoi you can see chickens cruising the streets doing their thing, maybe not "happy" exactly but not in cages...
I would certainly eat things like insects, earthworms, krill, snails...not a problem.
STOP FACTORY FARMING. That is my main concern, and of course personal health. and my Buddhist beliefs that focus on not causing suffering in sentient beings. I think it is arguable whether a lifeform such as an oyster is sentient, or is closer to a plant in nature...and let's not kid ourselves, plants also do respond to stimuli, and agriculture (even organic) kills countless lower lifeforms, as well as some higher ones such as small mammals (gophers, moles, mice, etc.) so you have to make choices...is a mole's life more valuable than a clam? I'd say it is. Mammals are certainly sentient. Even elephants and giraffes are killed to protect farms as well as millions of birds each year purposely poisoned by farmers growing plants...
I think we all need to deeply consider our food choices and try not to be dualistic...dualism is the antithesis of wisdom. I'd sum up my personal philosophy as "eat natural foods that are low on the food chain." and I believe that, short of suicide, that is the best I can do as an individual that cares about the world.

The benefits of going plant-based for me far outweighed the way I felt eating meat and dairy. You do you, tho.

@@JoysBeautyJawns plants have their benefits but essentially veganism is a starvation diet because plants lack essential nutrients. No matter how stringently you structure a vegan diet, you're missing unfortunately out on at least 15 nutrients exclusive to animal products. Starch based vegan diets are slightly more sustainable than raw food vegan diets but no vegan diet should be done for longer than a couple months or it can and will cause lasting damage

@@grottphd9090 Thank you very much for your concern and I do mean that genuinely.♥️ Personally, I do take supplements every day - a multivitamin, B-12, calcium, iron, and biotin and I am not on a raw diet. I am very interested in your findings, however - do you have any sources that you would like to share that speak to your claims about lasting damage? From my research, there are many benefits - even long term - but I have a ferocious, unquenchable love of learning and I would be very interested to check out any peer-reviewed research on the topic, if there is anything that you would like to share with me? In any event, I hope that you are doing well and thank you very much for sharing your thoughts!

Stop lying about being vegan. It's easy to prove you're not.

Promoting vegetables doesn't make you spiritual, but no tomato will be spared, plenty of broccolis, corn, and corn chowder for the children, tastes like a farm, and delicious. I am vegan for one year and still aren't vegan yet, but I see where you're coming from.
