I had come very close to losing my mobility at age 54. I was taking shots in my knees of Cortizone and right before Thanksgiving I bought a cane. During Thanksgiving break I started reading about the plant-based whole food diet way of eating and its health benefits. I started educating myself and on December 12, 2019, I went cold turkey, not just vegan, but vegan and whole foods only - Nothing processed and no oils. Within five days one knee stopped hurting. Within 12 days the other knee stopped hurting. I now go up and down stairs six or seven times a day, I walk my dogs three times a day, without trying I have lost 32 pounds - it’s amazing to me. So far I’ve had one coworker to change and do the same because of the effect that she sees that it’s had on me. I can honestly say I have never slept better in my life. I have never been less hungry. I have never eaten as much. I’ve never experimented as much with cooking new things and trying new foods. It literally makes me happy from the inside out.
That's GREAT!!! Good for you...Keep going on your vegan/plant based journey and have fun! I'm glad this life style worked out for you. From one vegan to another :-)
because of the incredible difficulty of getting enough nutrition/calories/balanced amino acids on a vegan diet, you may feel better in the short/medium term.. this is mostly due to fasting/calorie restriction and catabolising your own protein for your bodies base needs (which releases a lot of adrenaline making people feel energized/well in the short term) over time these deficiencies and catabolistic processes will take a severe toll on your body/mind. Please remember, short term, fine... but you NEED animal products/cholesterol and bioavailable animal forms of vitamins in your diet, there simply isn't a way around it. Veganism is damaging to your health, the environment and animal/wildlife life. Monocropping and this "trend" causes far more death and destruction than any responsible meat eater ever could. GB I had been a vegetarian for the better part of my life. But diet was extremely heavy on dairy and eggs and very little on vegetables and Fruits. Gave up both, my tastes changed and loaded up on fruits veggies nuts and legumes. I simply eat Whole Foods plant based diet. I don’t watch my carbs or fat or quantity as long as it’s Whole Foods plant based eating with low oil.
@@Dudenator203 probably the dairy. most people have issues with it depending on ancestry. plus modern pasteurised dairy is a new thing. don't think most people are adapted for it. I know people can drink raw milk but have issues with normal supermarket milk
GB I realized too it was the dairy heavy diet that was preventing me from achieving my fitness goals. Most people are lactose intolerant and with factory farmed dairy, it’s getting worse. So may be going plant based was very beneficial for me, health wise and morally too.
Funny. People on ketogenic and carnivore diets also experience the same thing. And reversing type 2 diabetes and auto-immune disorders too. Can we all agree that there is more than one way to get healthy depending on your body? The important thing is stop eating high processed carbs and sugar and lose weight. That right there will cure most ailments.

Most people doesn't realise that veganism promotes deforestation in other parts of the world, Indonesia for example, or el chaco in Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil. Also, promoting boycott to the industry only affect the smaller producers the ones the breed specific breeds (many of them heritage breeds) and pastured, this includes pigs, cows, poultry of many types and so on, ultimately this promotes the extinction of breeds that can thrive in natural conditions.
don't do it buddy. it's actually a clever scam to sell you garbage plant food with no real nutritional value whatsoever. The markup on animal foods aren't as high. Vegan food is almost always very or more processed. Plant vitamins have extremely low absorbtion rates. like 1/30th of the vitamin A / betacarotine in a carrot actually gets converted into a form of vitamin A you can use. Veganism is terrible and most people quit ( for a reason ) you'll feel good for a few months, a year maybe. then you will start to degenerate because of lacking vitamins. There are over 50 minerals and nutrients you can't adequately get from eating plants. Probably, you wont believe me because you trust big media more than some dude on the internet, right. Everyone says plants are healthy! there even are (chuckle) studies proving it! (lmao) anyway once you have suffered a few years on veganism with bloating, gut issues and brain fog maybe you will remember this post and eat a big steak. Preferably completely raw. Then you will feel for yourself instantly... you're systems need meat to optimally function. Take care
I was once someone who uttered the words “I could never go vegan because I love bacon too much” and “ignorance is bliss.” I have now been vegetarian for coming up on 7 years in April. Saw “Forks Over Knives“ and changed my life. I went vegan immediately about 2 1/2 years ago and lost 35 pounds which I’ve kept off. All my numbers normalized and I look 20 years younger according to everyone who mentions it. I feel great and would never go back.
I've been vegan for 2 years now. Got rid of IBS symptoms, now I have clear skin, lost 20 pounds, have more energy and even though I'm approaching 30 people think I'm 20. It has lots of benefits and on top of that you don't have to contribute to killing and torturing billions of animals ✌
Went vegetarian in November 2019 and dropped dairy, February 2020. Can’t think of anything better for my health, animal welfare, and the planet. My father, unwell at 83, started eating plant strong summer 2022, after my staying with him for three months and coaching his home care aids how to improve his diet. His torture constipation completely disappeared and his cognitive health and heart health improved greatly.

I became vegan after my daughter showed me the movie what the health. She did it not only because she cares about animals and wildlife, she also did it because she loves and cares about me. When I use to go into the supermarket, I use to skip pass the produce section and go to the meat section. Now I spend more time with all those beautiful fruit andvegetables. So many dishes can be made and enjoyed without harming your body. I am vegan and I am loving it.
I am a vegan and I would like to say that the resistance often comes because people feel that they have to be on one side or the other. But that isn't true. an idea is to just have a vegan day twice a week and see how you feel. Perhaps you will reduce it to 1 day a week or up it to 6 days and have a cheat day. Either way adding more plant-based foods will benefit you. You don't have to be 'vegan' to get some benefits is what I am saying, just adding 1 day a week can help. Of course, fully plant-based is probably better than not, but eating 14% more plant-based (1 day a week) is better than 100% non-plant based. Of course, this is about you personally and your health, it doesn't even get into the environmental benefits or animal benefits. Additionally, fellow vegans let's share the message without judgment, this isn't about shaming people. We all have the right to choose and that shouldn't be met with judgment. I cringe when I hear vegans say other people's food is disgusting, let's educate and elevate not judge. Let people make up their own minds once they have the facts.
You were wrong in your first four words. You're not vegan. You used animal products just to post this comment. Vegan (noun) - a person that does not eat or use animal products. Cell phones, computers, the internet, youtube servers are all made with animal products. Is someone giving out virtue signaling medals?
This is true if you're going for plant based, but vegan implies against animal abuse, so it's an all or nothing kind of thing.... at least as is practically possible.... When a vegan says meat disgusts them, it's because they see the suffering that was caused and feel for the animal.... it is disgusting when you consider it from the animals perspective! Eggs are disgusting because they come out the asshole of a chicken... Who likes ass rubbed on their food? Every notice the similarity between the smell of eggs and farts.... You should check out some Paul Bashir or Joey carbstrong videos on youtube! Most effective vegan perspective I've found!
I was vegetarian off and on for years. Then I watched the game changer on RUclips and became instantly vegan. Stopped wearing anything made from an animal including silk. Stopped using products that tested on animals and gave up all food that came from an animal including honey. It definitely was a game changer for me and I have never been happier. Just knowing that I’m not hurting an animal is enough for me but it’s an added bonus the world is better for it.
@Vegan Zombie in addition to all the above..I can get out of bed in the morning and stand up straight with no pain. Sleep better, no migraines, less inflammation. Working on switching to who,e food plant based and already see less pain in my joints from arthritis. Since I gave up sugar my RLS is way better.
I’ve only been vegan for 37 days but I can already tell a huge difference. Definitely with my energy. I used to be so tired during the day. I’m also on a consistent running schedule, plan to get back into rock climbing, coming up in 2 years sober in October, and haven’t had a cigarette in 42 days. I didn’t do all these things at once. Each change has been inspired by the next. - My diet is still a journey and I’m leaning to be more mindful about paying attention to ALL the stuff that is added to my food. It’s a process. I’m having mercy on myself. I cannot wait to continue to see the positive results.

I was a big meat lover and turned vegan overnight with my vegetarian husband five years ago. We were both sixty five. Better late than never. I haven't really lost much weight but my body feels clean. Most of all I found my compassion and now see the absurdity of polluting our bodies with the dead flesh of other animals. They have as much right to live as we do.
@Leslie Gibbons Why exactly does human life come before animal life though? What makes us so special that we should have a right to exploit another species and treat it as a food product? That they should give up their whole life so we can have one 20-minute meal? Unfortunately humane treatment is the last thing most animals get in factory farming.
@Leslie Gibbons I never said animal life should come before human life. I think they should be equally important and respected. Of course I would eat an animal if it was up to survival but it never has been and I doubt that is the case for many people in the western world these days so it feels like a bit of a moot point. As long as I can survive without harming animals, I want to do that. And you're right, not all animals are factory farmed. Vast majority is though. Since you're for humane treatment of animals, I'm assuming you never eat animals that come from factory farms? If so, kudos for you, and I mean that.
@Leslie Gibbons Yes and I've been trying to ask WHY exactly you think they are not equally important and I haven't really gotten an answer. Because they are not the same species as us? There are also loads of people whose health has improved since dropping animal products. What works for one person might not work for others.
Beyoncé didn’t follow a “Vegan” diet! And hasn’t done so “several times” it’s nonsense! Being Vegan is NOT a diet, that would be; Whole Food Plant Based (WFPB). Being Vegan 🌱 is not something that you do for a while and then put it down! How ridiculous! It is an ethical stance, a worldview, a complete lifestyle that advocates for the equality and rights of innocent, sentient animals and has nothing to do with health per se. There is plenty of unhealthy “Vegan” processed rubbish that you can eat, so to promote “Veganism” as a healthy diet doesn’t make a lot of sense and is factually incorrect.
@Leslie Gibbons people on plant based diets have been shown to live longer, healthier lives. But keep lying to yourself. You prove vegans points by your need to lie to yourself to feel better about consuming meat and dairy products all on your own. You know it's wrong but instead of admit it you lie to yourself and others.
it really bugs me when they do this. Same as evangelicals who claim that someone is a "reformed" atheist. If you were an atheist, then started believing in a higher power without any evidence of its existence, then you were never really an atheist to begin with.
Well, diet is really just what a person eats on a regular basis. The word diet is often used incorrectly to reference a period of eating x and then going back to y, but it’s an incorrect usage. Saying vegan diet is correct. It means eating vegan.

If you cut processed foods, sugars, unhealthy oils etc, and start eating more fruits and vegetables, you would probably feel a lot better anyways, even if you keep meat in your diet. Veganism is not practiced by any stone age tribal society or individual tribe anywhere ever in all history including up to the present day. Even Indian food is chock full of clarified butter to enable digestion, are 1000+ million Indians wrong and you're right...??
Veldtian1 no Stone Age tribal society or individual tribe anywhere has ever driven cars, used electricity, or fly in airplanes either, what the hell is your point? Edit: Plant based diets have existed since ancient times. Ever heard of Pythagoras?
I remember meeting a woman when I was a child, she ate no meat, fish, cheese, butter or eggs. wow, I thought she was a saint and wished with all my heart to be like her. The seed was planted. As an adult I found it very difficult to touch raw meat and eventually became vegetarian.. that lasted 15 years then I migrated and for my convenience started eating meat again. That went on for about 7 years, but more and more touching and smelling dead flesh was getting to me… plus I was feeling lousy..horrid thoughts in my head… so low energy. One Sunday morning 6.5 years ago I checked out youtube and someone had posted a link called Earthlings, I thought it was about ET’s so I clicked on it. To my horror it was about animals being cruelly slaughtered for our culinary lust. First impulse was to turn it off… far to sensitive to look at that cruelty, but a loud voice in my head screamed, watch it…so I hid my face and looked and cried like a baby, I was inconsolable. That very hour I dumped everything in my fridge and cupboards with meat and dairy into the garbage. Instant 🌱 vegan . I cried for two weeks. That was 6 1/2 years ago..and I have never felt better. The dark thoughts left, and my health has improved greatly…These animals are sentient beings with children and emotions.

I have suffered from hormonal acne for several years! the results started to show from the first week, and I will never go back. vegan lifestyle have changed my life, It’s never to late to change.
Shreya Bhat idk if you don’t understand this but if everyone was vegan there would be waaaay to many animals and no food for them sooo nope not goin vegan
@@jonah_boi__9181 that's the most common misconception. You have to understand that we breed animals in factories using artificial insemination. They won't exist in such high numbers if not for humans. Also the world is not going vegan overnight. If you don't buy animal products, you are decreasing the demand for animal breeding. So yeah it's all in our hands.
watch earthlings you'll go vegan so much quicker... and the reward if you want it is being more spiritually awakened and you'll have an empowered 3rd eye if you want with meditation... theres so many pluses for going vegan.!
99% of the people viewing this video are probably vegan/vegetarian (the other 1%, trolls). So why do you continually use the term "vegan diet" when the correct terminology should be "plant-based diet?" For example, when you mention that Beyonce and Jay Z dabble in eating a vegan diet for periods of time. What does that even mean? So, let me get this straight. While on the "vegan diet" they are against the exploitation and cruelty to animals, but otherwise, hey, what's the harm. If this were a YT channel that had a healthy mix of vegans and non-vegans, then throwing around the term "vegan" where "plant-based" would be more appropriate wouldn't be objectionable because most of the non-vegan population look at them as interchangeable. I'm not trying to be a persnickety stick-in-the-mud. I'm just of the belief that we're de-emphasizing the importance of being vegan - namely, against animal injustices. Okay, that's my two cents. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

My vegan story: went plant based for health, stayed for vegan. Been vegetarian/vegan for over a month now and feeling great. The thought of eating meat is no longer satisfying
I grew up eating meat drinking cows milk and loving eggs! 4 weeks ago I had a lymph node removed which has turned out to be lymphoma! after 4 weeks soul searching and a lot of reading, I have made the switch to a vegan, mostly raw, eating plan. I'm finding it surprisingly easy! I have also woke to the extreme damage that the meat and dairy industries are doing to our planet!!! in just 4 weeks my skin is looking better, my energy levels are up, my spirits are up, and my pre-diabetic status has been reversed! I'm going to continue down this path and, hopefully, it will also have a positive impact on my Lymphoma? only time will tell, but for now I feel great!
When I went Vegan I dipped 32 pounds in the first month of eating this way and I never looked back again. I just keep going in Sept 2017. I’m happy I did.
You cut down junk food tha contain fast carbs and seed oils, and that is why you lost weight. Had you eaten low carb nutrient dense animal foods, your weight would have dropped faster and you would have gotten more essential nutrients.
I've been vegan since three years and honestly I had a real glow up after that my energy level started increasing . At the top of all it Made feel better 😌 I wake up peacefully everyday
I've been vegetarian for 13 years and fully vegan for a few months. I feel better than I've felt in a long time. It helped with my depression, weight, energy, and much more. I'm in my 30s and just started running. That's something I never thought I'd be able to do since I have hypothyroidism and used to get tired really quickly. I have the energy I did as a kid and it's only getting better every day.
Vegans kill many times more animals than those who eat grassfed beef. Vegan diet lacks many important nutrients and it is bad for the soil. Producing grassfed meat is actually positive for the environment and climate.
@Oriana vegans are not becoming vegans because they want to be malnourished they converting to not cause pain to any animal I won’t get any money if you convert vegan it’s the animals which will suffer less think about it
I’ve been vegan for four years now and honestly I don’t know how I ate as much cheese as I used to. Legit I was the person who would get stuffed crust and extra extra cheese on pizza. If I see it now with all the greese pooling ontop of Pizza it makes me nauseous tbh. My migraines went away. I lost weight, I sleep better, and I’m much much happier now. Wouldn’t change it for anything.
I’m glad to hear that Steve Hardy changed his diet to vegan as the Standard American Diet is especially deadly for Black people. 2 of my best friends have been Black, and over time so much, m first friend died of her Sickle Cell disease. My current friend got me interested in veganism, and the change helped me get out of a wheelchair at age 60., and walking daily, doing my 10,000 steps. No more 200 lbs., 8 lbs. lighter and wearing a size 4 in jeans. Much better life! No more arthritis, asthma, eczema, high load pressure of cholesterol. I am a 71 year young senior taking no meds. The meds the doctors give for these lifestyle diseases never get one well, it makes more for the doctor and slowly poisons us. My mom and sister both died of breast cancer, my dad and grandmother of Alzheimer’s, mom had 2 hip replacements, her sister has both knees replaced, my aunt’s daughter-in-law got knees replaced too. No blood relation, of course, but the cause of all these health disasters was the food! I have been saved from so much.
These comments here, though... Anyway, well done and keep it going. I've been a vegan myself for about 3 years now and am almost just excited about it as the day I started
I'm trying to be vegan .. Searched on youtube on why people go vegan but most of the videos showed 'why i'm no longer vegan' .. For me being vegan is depends to ourself, not to brag on anything, not to condemn non-vegan .. I'm not vegan yet but seeing people hating on vegan, makes me feels annoyed .. Let people choose what they want to be as long they're happy & healthy.
I used to be vegan, it never helped my health. It continued to worsen over time until I was sick, weak, finally after eating meat based im feeling revived and reversing health conditions that veganism did nothing for.
@G well I think a pet like a dog is okay. They help protect a home and can be very uplifting to a person during a hard time. They're very smart and loyal. I do think people naturally want a pet because they instinctively want something to take care of (like a child)
It’s not for everyone, in fact it’s probably the most energy depleting diet, short of starving yourself. It’s more of a statement than a viable health alternative, which should be obvious.
@G I literally dont even cuddle with my dogs but I do with humans... I already know that humans forced evolution on dogs through selective breeding but like tiny dogs for example need people and could never fend for themselves in the wild so people inevitably take them in. If you dont like it then dont have pets but it's something people do.
GB “our ancestors did it, so therefore it’s okay for us to do it” - you know that same line of thinking justifies slavery right? Humans practiced enslavement for thousands of years, but we look back on it with disgust. I imagine the same will be said for our treatment of animals. Animal enslavement is not necessary and there is so much needless suffering in the animal agriculture industry.
So inspirational! I love this positive message & how the world is waking up & making changes for the better. For us, for the animals, & for the planet.

I've realized that I can no longer live with the incongruity of loving animals and eating animals. This awareness has been sparked a few years ago and I haven't made the change...turned a blind eye...but in my new job, hunting for suppliers of livestock set me off.
I've been vegan for 10 years now and it's been the most wonderful years. I searched for years to find the right eating lifestyle and purely by circumstances (TMI for this comment) I became vegan and at first, a raw vegan. I love it and will always be, for me and for the beautiful animals that I love.
I stopped eating meat three years ago once I made the connection that I was contributing to animal's suffering and environmental degradation. As WELL as harm to my health. (Thank you, What The Health.) I've been completely vegan now for 1 and 1/2 years and I feel the clearest and most energetic I've ever felt. Go Vegan!
I've had an on and off relationship with Vegetarianism since I was a teen. I didn't think that animal products outside of meat would harm the animal, but I decided to go Vegan as a 30-day challenge on October 14th 2019 to see if my autoimmune & Heart Disease symptoms would subside. I decided on day 3 after feeling a boost of energy, cleared sinuses, and a ton of reading about animal cruelty, that I'd never turn back. At 42, I'm feeling physically & morally the best I have in my life. Grateful for publications & social media like this that give a voice to the gentle beings that can't speak for themselves. Thank you❤
I suggest base it on your health. every new diet leaves people feeling good at first. often people tend to drop processed food when they switch diets and that tends to be what boosts them. fyi people are now curing their auto immune diseases with ketogenic and carnivore diet, people that have tried all the other diet like plant based.
Per the Dr, the ketogenic diet is what caused me to have a Heart Attack, resulting in Heart Disease. When I was a Vegetarian, I didn't know that I was still aiding in animals being tortured & tormented. This isn't just a diet for me.
I made the change when my doctor told me I had high Cholesterol. I was always a healthy eater. Cooked at home. Had vegetables, fruit, etc. I also had hormone issues and thyroid problems. Took medicine. Stomach problems....a lot. As soon as I took meat out, I felt better. There’s something there.

I was vegan for 16 years. Over that period of time, my physical and mental health got worse and worse to the point I thought I'd die. I was physically weak, I couldn't think rationally, I would hurl abuse at people who didn't share my point of view... I thought it was just age. I refused to believe it had anything to do with being vegan, even though that was my ony lifestyle change and the only real change in my lifestyle at that point. by the time I decided I needed to ask, I was vomiting almost every morning, I could barely lift my arms to chest height and I had become agressive to such a degree that I was close to physical violence all day, every day, and would go out of my way to find places people were eating meat so I could scream at them. That all changed two years ago. A friend convinced me to try eating some meat. I cried. Not only was it so much more delicious that I remembered, almost instantly I felt calm for the first time in years. Since then, I've been eating meat and dairy almost daily. I've built my muscles back up, I'm less angry all the time, I'm more capable to thinking rationally and not losing my temper over every llittle thing... I've spoken to many other recovered vegans over the last two years and the story is almost the same across the board. If only vegans could understand that most of their anger and hatred comes from their refusal to eat as nature inteneded. I am now a HUGE anti-vegan advocate. I have never been less hungry. because of the incredible difficulty of getting enough nutrition/calories/balanced amino acids on a vegan diet, you may feel better in the short/medium term.. this is mostly due to fasting/calorie restriction and catabolising your own protein for your bodies base needs (which releases a lot of adrenaline making people feel energized/well in the short term)
over time these deficiencies and catabolistic processes will take a severe toll on your body/mind.
The answer is regenerative farming, primarily of grassland restoration which by definition includes animals/ruminants

After watching "What the Health" and "Game Changers" I had wanted to change to veganism for a while but I always had the excuse that I wasn't going to have the discipline to stick to it because I couldn't afford it and I lived in a house full of meat eaters. Then one day I just changed to veganism and it has been the easiest thing I have ever done in my life. I made the change mostly for my health but I have always been an animal lover and I love that my lifestyle is now in line with my ethics.
You should watch Earthlings. The worst and best film/documentary on animals. Broke my heart
don't do it buddy. it's actually a clever scam to sell you garbage plant food with no real nutritional value whatsoever. (lmao) anyway
once you have suffered a few years on veganism with bloating, gut issues and brain fog maybe you will remember this post and eat a big steak. Preferably completely raw. Then you will feel for yourself instantly... you're systems need meat to optimally function.

tinykoomi Yes Veganism isn’t for health, it’s clear to see. Having said that most so called vegans eat foods that cause large amounts of animal suffering. Pesticides are literally destroying whole ecosystems, all for your so called vegan crops.
I was vegan for 16 years and it nearly destroyed my body and my mental health.
I stopped being vegan 2 years ago and I no longer suffer from depression, violent rage fits, I've built my muscle back and I'm generally and fitter, more menatlly stable and nicer person as a result of dropping veganism.
I'm slowly converting to and it is very fun

How long were you vegan because being animal free for short periods of time will always feel good. Not long term

I haven't really lost much weight but my body feels clean. Most of all I found my compassion and now see the absurdity of polluting our bodies with the dead flesh of other animals. They have as much right to live as we do.
Well said. Congrats x
@Leslie Gibbons Why do you think animals don't have the same right to life as us humans?

There is plenty of unhealthy “Vegan” processed rubbish that you can eat, so to promote “Veganism” as a healthy diet doesn’t make a lot of sense and is factually incorrect.
Veganism is a mental disorder

I became vegan 3 months ago, I was sick of supporting the system that made these animals life like hell!!!

There's a wrong way to do anything.
@G I literally dont even cuddle with my dogs but I do with humans... And now Miley eats fish.... claiming "brain issues" that's the problem with putting celebs front and center with the vegan movement. Ive been vegan for 15 years... yeah no "brain" issues.
Maybe she had too low B12 or DHA/EPA or low HDL or high homocysteine or some other issues totally not related to the vegan diet
@@eternallaurum maybe you need to EDUCATE YOURSELF (eye roll on how overused this statement is with folks trying to passive aggressively "teach you.") to the fact that this lady was doing a bunch of drugs including hallucinogens and copious amounts of alcohol... but nah, it's the lack of fish that's impacting her central nervous system.
The world is a better, happier and more free place with fewer vegans in it.
You are just a narcissistic and world will be much happier place to live in with fewer or none like you.
Welcome to being woke free my friend. Enjoy all the nutrients from meat including heme iron, zinc, b12's, etc. As an anti vegan and a proud meat eater, we are happy to have you.
