There we go, a mega live video! Love it, Tom! You’ll figure it out better and faster than any other resource I have. Have this on my boat now but I’ve only used it for ice fishing. I agree, don’t care about watching fish eat so much, just want to use it for pinpointing pods. Side mount tiller like you. Looking for more content on this tool. Teach me. Thanks!!
started doing this exact same setup last year with the Garmin Live and slip bobs ...... it's always interesting to see how the fish are interacting with the bait and how you can modify your presentation to get their attention. Sometimes they would ignore a still bait on the slip, and wouldn't pay attention to it until you actually started to jig it up and down a bit. Sometimes they preferred the bait 4-5 feet off the bottom, rather than maybe 1 ft, but you wouldn't believe it until you actually saw their behavior on Live. Great content as always Tom.
Tom, it would be really cool to have you give a run down of how you use a tiller boat combined with basically all rear mounted electronics (including rearward positioned live imaging) to create a fast, efficient command center. Everything you are doing is designed to maximize efficiency (and simplify filming). It’s a cool aspect that a lot of people don’t even think about. It’s 10x more important for all of us weekend warriors to be able to maximize time on the water.
Best teacher in the walleye game... not even close. Love your vids dude. Headed to N Wisconsin in 10 days and watching your stuff gets me jacked. Love it.
Great video Tom! Looks like your using side imaging to macro-locate and mega live to pinpoint actual fish. These videos are very helpful when it comes to using the new tech. Thanks for doing this!
Hard to beat the dropshot with live imaging. I've been doing this for a couple years now. You can hold the bait in front of the fish at any depth and pretty much call your shot. Nice video, keep it up!
As always, fabulous job putting the technology to work and showing us, what to look for. I cant wait to hear more details regarding the setup and how you are lining things up. I do not think the trolling motor mount makes sense, for me, either.
@@TomBoley as a bass angler that drives my boat around a TON and am standing up higher on the deck of the boat I don’t want to bend to move a pole or have a pole super high up. Also the capability of moving the ducer with my foot while winding and working my bait allows me to to follow my bait better. Pros and cons to both mounts. I’m in Hayward too!
Another solid video man. Coming to you from North Dakota. The lake we fish, Ashtabula, is a mess because of the spring rain. The visibility is getting better but its still bad enough to where we are going for crappies and white bass mainly. Your videos are about the only thing getting us through the walleye season. By this time last year my dad and I had around 80 walleyes caught. This year we have four caught in as many fishing trips.
Walleye Professor, you've done it again. Just don't pick up your lure as easily as the fish. Great seeing your 4 legged friend out with you. have missed your buddy, Surly. Would be great if Humminbird would get there act together. Have had a Mega 360 on order since last July. No info anywhere as to when it will be delivered. Probably get it after Christmas this year, or sometime late spring 2023.
Tom Have learned a lot from your videos, just purchased the walleye now app. It would help a bit more regarding trolling if you would reference approximate speeds while trolling…. Keep up the great work. If you’re ever down in northern lower Michigan and want to fish Burt and mullet lakes…. Hit me up I’ll take ya out in my boat.
Live imaging is an awesome tool for catching walleye. Humminbird has a ways to go yet to catch up with the image quality that the garmin livescope plus system has. But eventually they will all be the same. Love my garmin setup for walleyes.
I'm looking to install a Ultrex Quest with Mega Live. What do you recommend for musky fishing? SI, DI, FFS? Interested in spotting the fish, as I fish the contours! Thanks for any info! Eventually I might ramp up to Target Lock, I'm trying to avoid the extra arm on the TM right now, or the side bracket. Thanks!
I Like how you emphasize the use of the different technologies and how they play in with one another. Often people overlook the need for SI when scouting and jump right to Live. Nice video and great shot capturing that aggressive fish! Ever considered doing a ML v. LVS34 video to really see the quality differences between the 2 platforms? I have to say, having used both, I’d go with Garmin all day long for the detail. Thanks for the Video Tom!
I like color palette 11, it really makes things pop. Also something I learned that’s not described anywhere is that each click on the mega live mount is 10 degrees which is helpful for selecting what degree angle you choose in the settings.
Quit obvious he does not want to tell us. Pops up on my phone any time someone responds. May have to respond back with my wallet. Like the walleye now app but it is a want not a need.
Great Mega Live vid Tom. In you short amount of time on the water with this tech, what have you seen as farthest distance from the ML transducer you can get and still mark fish?
Can you do a mega live video and describe your settings? Clicks up from down on the ducer, mask or no mask, sensitivity, contrast, dynamic contrast level, etc? Also, that looked like the old software on the unit. Is that correct?
Eventually yes everyone will have forward facing sonar. For me with a young family it’ll be ten years! Sad but most all tips videos around RUclips are obsolete to me these days because I don’t and won’t have the coin for this technology.
This reminds me a lot of using an underwater camera during ice fishing. You use it to find find the fish and watch reactions. It's too bad water clarity goes way down in summer. $1500 is a lot.
I already have lowrance systems on my boat, cant find mega lives. Guess lowrance live works just as well. You should use it trolling, seen guys trolling trout and salmon using pan optics.
Hi Tom i tried to look at comments for the info but I didnt find it, what hook size you use for jumbo leech on dropshot? I was using #6 but felt like i was missing a lot of hooking due to the fact the hook was too small but at the same time i dont want to put a #2/0 and hook so big that the fish knows it a obvious hook
Hey Tom I’ve been using mega live all summer with good success but at times I have some interference issues. I don’t have a 360 and I get this.. have you dealt with this at all?
Did you install the "choke" cable that came in the box? It goes between your onboard charger and the accessories/cranking battery. That cleaned up a lot of interference for me that was sneaking thru from the trolling motor. If the interference is from other graphs, you might need to play with changing frequencies.
@@TargetWalleye hey thanks for the reply yeah I put the choke after the on board charger. I’m wondering if my problem is in the way I wired the switch. I left the shield wire In tact due I need to wire that in the ground on my switch
You don't have a vantage on your boat, but it works great to mount to that! Auto stow and deploy with a push button, and 3:1 steering. I had my active target on a summit pole for a bit and it was a pain to go over to the pole and adjust it. I run the vantage from my seat, and it makes it a lot easier!

IMO, the technology is still in the embryonic stage and vast improvements are within reach. Technology will improve and the cost will be more affordable in a couple of years… I hope.
