      Indeed. Now apply this level of transparency to all of human history, where we weren't being recorded and most everyone had areas to bury or discard unwanted infants. There's cultural reasons built into Japan for infanticide, among other cultures, specifically because babies die and/or cannot be taken care of. Time to be extra grateful for the systems we do live in, from morality to social networks that can help care for babies.

      Imposing life on a child that did not give consent to life isn’t “mercy”…. It’s a life sentence. It’s only mercy if you believe that life is good. And that’s fine. But you shouldn’t make those choices for others. If the child you bring into the world doesn’t think life is good - then you’re actually the arsehole, aren’t you?

    • @lisaa.4667
      @lisaa.4667 День назад +21

      She's extremely self-centered with absolutely no empathy. She did not regard her own baby as a human being who can suffer until death from dehydration and starvation. She murdered her daughter passively. Passive or active, it's still 1st degree murder. I'm glad she won't have the possibility of parole until she hits menopause, when she cannot get pregnant again. As a mother, I cannot imagine doing that to a baby or a child. She's the one who's not human.

    • @CocoWantsACracker
      @CocoWantsACracker День назад

      @@NineNineOne While I agree that it isn't so clear-cut, I do want to point out that the decision whether or not you want to be alive is one you cannot make until you have reached a certain level of development that allows you awareness. An infant doesn't have that yet, and by cutting their life short, you take away their freedom of choice.
      If you feel you have brought a child into a terrible world that brings mostly misery, the most ethical course of action to me would still be to put the child up for adoption and give it a fair chance to be raised by loving people as their own who may instill a joy for life into your child that you yourself could never do. If it fails, it is up to your child to decide life is not worth living and step out if they so desire. That would not have constituted a crime, either, and for good reason.
      However, I will say that perhaps her own youth has been so bad that she lost faith in adoption as a viable solution, and she may have actually intended her own actions as a mercy. With that being a plausible explanation - though no excuse, obviously - I would argue she is not necessarily a horrible monster, but she sure violated a lot of written AND unwritten rules of our society.

    The problem I have with her, it’s her age, she’s an adult, a young working woman that already had a baby before. She stated how devastating it was for her boyfriend, when they lost their newborn baby, which means he was happy to be a father together with her and wanted to have the family they’d desired.
    So, the excuse for not telling him about her second pregnancy doesn’t make sense, together they had months to prepare for the baby’s birth. And if marriage was important for her job, they could’ve married at the city hall.
    That’s again it’s another excuse that doesn’t make sense,she knew when her coworkers had their babies, they had their babies with them at work. She could’ve continued her job, and had her baby girl with her, as well.
    She was too old for her to use her parents as an excuse, especially when her boyfriend said they were always asking them when was she having a baby. When they kept the first pregnancy a secret from her parents, he couldn’t understand why, when her parents wanted a grandchild from them.
    Again, she used another excuse that doesn’t make sense, because she knew her parents would have lovely welcome her baby girl in their arms and spoiled her as all loving grandparents do it to all their babies.
    She was 23 years old, she wasn’t a young teenager, although she talked like a teenager.
    She had a boyfriend who loved her, and wanted to be a father, so she was not alone without any kind of help from her relationship. She chose not to let him know about his second living baby for days, she had time to talk to him and ask him for help with their baby girl.
    But, she chose to leave her baby alone for hours, crying, screaming and slowly dying of hunger, that’s cruel.
    I’d to write it down for my brain to comprehend her intentions at the time, by her actions it shows she had no intention of being a mother to the poor baby girl, she didn’t even had chosen a name for her baby during her pregnancy. Something so special and important for a mother to be, taking time to choose the precious baby name. When the baby is born and placed on our arms, (if we were the ones giving them birth or if they were given to us, but brought to us by another mother that carried them when we couldn’t), we look at them and feel a type of love that only a mother can understand, it’s different from all other loves we have experienced in this world.
    She had the ability and knowledge to take the baby to safety and she chose to let her baby die, instead of taking her to the hospital, a neighbor’s house, a firehouse, call 911 for help instead of having a baby fall on the ground during the night, outside and alone when the baby was born, why, the only sad answer that it’s difficult for our hearts to accept, she didn’t want her baby, and she used all types of excuses to ignore the truth.
    What did she do with the placenta? She knew what she had to do when the baby is born, the umbilical cord was broken when the baby fell to the ground. She put herself in danger of bleeding from the uterus the way the baby was born.
    Now, I understand why she’s in prison for life, I’ve seen teenagers in the past take the same actions before and after pregnancy and the baby was found later dead, but they didn’t get life in prison. One case was unbelievable, because the teen mom didn’t get any harsh punishment for killing the newborn baby.
    She didn’t want the baby, she didn’t love her baby, she knew she could have taken the baby to a safe place in her city, she knew about it by working with troubled teens, it’s hard to comprehend her actions.
    She destroyed everything she was trying to keep by making terrible decisions in her life.
    Please, if you are or you know someone in the same situation, don’t make the same mistakes and poor decisions as her. Tell someone about your situation, don’t be afraid of what you don’t know or cannot control.
    Sometimes people’s reactions are different than theirs words, situations are different from one another.
    Your parents may be helpful and they might be there for you, they might have an idea of a place where disparate couples have their names in long lists for adoption. Or a couple from work, a cousin in their family that cannot get pregnant, miracles happen every day.
    Sometimes our mistakes can make us feel we are in the worst situation ever in our lives and we are completely helpless and alone. We are not, we have a loving Father in Heaven that is always there for us, it’s up to us to make the first step and humbly pray for His love, forgiveness, help, guidance, and show our gratitude for all His blessings and miracles in our lives. He will help you through your journey. Believe in Him and know there’s nothing a loving parent won’t do for his children, imagine what our Celestial Father would do for us.

      I can’t even begin to wrap my head around what it is that she was actually asking. It’s infuriating!
      Was she asking who-as in who specifically? Was she referring to the baby she starved, neglected, and ultimately chose to murder? Premeditatedly, over at least six months (and that’s being extremely generous). Her baby girl. Her innocent, defenseless, newborn daughter.
      It’s a level of cruelty and delusion that’s incomprehensible.

If she was heartless enough to leave the baby alone for hours on end while she soiled herself and starved, then she definitely didn't think to try giving her water. I think the detective gave her the water idea after she said that she was giving the baby her finger to suck on. She wasn't trying to provide nourishment, she was trying to get her to shut up. As horrible as it sounds, I don't think this girl gave a second thought to that poor baby. If you notice during her interview, the times she cries are only after admitting her massive screw-ups; she doesn't shed a single tear when she tells the detective about finding her baby dead.
