the woman rolling around on the floor is hilarious , its one way of cleaning the dance floor , she keeps flashing her Gash at the guys sat in front , she must be proud of her beaver she keeps showing all and sundry
Guy in the red is the only true soul boy in this video, the guy in black looks like a trained dancer who i've never seen at a soul event and well at least the lady is enjoying herself in fairness.. The lad in the red still goes to soul events and is naturally one of the best dancers i've ever seen this video does him no justice.
i too did all these places and soul scene in scunthorpe. my favourite place was winter gardens, cleethorpes. live in cornwall now so have to get by on my memories. northern soul was the best years of my life apart from my kids. can anyone remember me. i was debbie oneill. would love to hear from anyone from years ago
Everyone giving the guy in red the props, but it's the guy in the back with the hat who's the real deal. The guy in black up front is in top shape, and has all his freakin moves but he's in the wrong compete. Obviously he needs to be in the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader try-outs. Ha! Man, I love this song. Towards the end, the girl in the skirt seems to get stuck down on the floor. Looks like she's ready to take a quick nap.
yep, mr red t is the true soul boy, got the passion from his heart right down his feet! looked at other vid too, milk tray man is good, though not enough passion, and as for mrs flower skirts, W T F! But hey ho, at least she was enjoying hereself! thanks for posting!
I don't know whether he was the guy at Queens. He was a dj at Manchester Met Uni last year and so it could add up. Eleswhere on RUclips there is a video of a BBC interview with him and the other guy in a local news show. This might help you to know if it is the right guy.
Nice video, just to the left of the winner the blonde lad in black t shirt and trousers you can see me sat down on the floor in a white shirt, doing my video clips which I have posted! Still think the guy in the burgundy t shirt should have made the final. Keep on keeping on Trevor
I should clarify that even though you are dancing to the same track there is more footage of you in this video so I was able to obseve you more (and had 2nd thoughts on your timing).
Does anyone know Kenny McKendrick from Preston? He was interviewed on the Strange World of Northrn Soul but that was years ago. He is an old Torch/Mecca friend of mine. Thanks.
The fella in the black shirt does some ok acrobatics but has no natural rhythm and his legs look angular and awkward. Fella in red is as smooth as you like on the floor and makes it look effortless. The girl in the polka dot skirt wants to save the rolling around for the bedroom.
less it more...arms down, lots of complex shuffle (Boogie with ya baby), see the Nicholas Brothers from 1930's or Gene Kelly and Donald O'Conner in singing in the rain, dance is older than cave men...
The lad in the red t shirt should of definatley won that think he was from belfast if my memory serves me right , as for the girl in the flowered skirt well what can one say i almost saw what she had for breakfast and she should get back to the local pub/ club noway was she a soulie .and the lad in the black that won it nowayyyyyyy what a poser and where did he go after winning never saw him on the floor again . (fixed)
check out post by thdanc3r on northern soul Blackpool (Jrl 1957) - he says on here he is the guy in black and on the other one he is saying how fantastic the guy in black is (in other words himself) - can you believe it? Maybe he isn't the guy in the video at all but just some idiot trying to get attention? I don't think he's that good anyway,
I agree. Guy in red is the only true northern dancer and he should have won. Guy in black has no timing at all (too fast for the music) and he's trained in some type of modern dance not northern. Girl in skirt is unbelievably bad. How did she get to the final group? Must have been for the entertainment value cos she can't dance! I had a good laugh anyway! Girl in black ok but guy in hat had a strange style - didn't care for it.
Yes, I know I did but in this video your timing is not as good - in the other one it was good. You are a good dancer but not a great northern dancer. Did you train in modern dance (or ballet)? Looks like it.
The guy in the black vest top and white shoes, he is fantastic, could watch him all night
Guy in the Red shirt best by far. Real soul boy.
Easily....that's something you feel, not something you learn
Totally agree, lad in red shirt is feeling the music, the lad in black is just doing gymnastics and canna dance
Are you saying there are good ones?
the woman rolling around on the floor is hilarious , its one way of cleaning the dance floor , she keeps flashing her Gash at the guys sat in front , she must be proud of her beaver she keeps showing all and sundry
The guy in pink is my geography teacher

I've seen the guy in the black vest in Riverdance with Michael Flatley.

i agree. 30 years ago at cleethorpes you would not have seen anything like this

Keep on keeping on

I nearly won this, but all i did was walk round looking for the bogs.
I did the "strut to the bog boogy" all men do after 7 pints.
Yeah it is the guy in the Mercy vid. He is Irish and a dj from Manchester, so is the other guy who starts and finishes vid.
redshirtman gets my vote!as for 'oklahoma' meets john cleese what's all that about?
Who is the guy in the black
Whos the guy dancing in black?? Brill mover 👍👍
Does anyone know Kenny McKendrick from Preston? He was interviewed on the Strange World of Northrn Soul but that was years ago. He is an old Torch/Mecca friend of mine. Thanks.
This is hilarious 🤣
tell me which one won
Anyone know the guys name in the black vest,??
Jay Howden...winner 2007.
I think girl in the black clothes is pretty northern too.
So I take it Kenny Burrell must have been there? At least the record would have been original then.
What about the sweetheart in the skirt.
There's only one bloke worth watchin ,........ the guy in black

Anyone who knows anything about northern knows the lad in red top was by far the best dancer the bloke in the black can dance but thats not northern
lad in black good but back in the day it was all lad in red daned well an who tf is that muppet bird to his right, bak 2 glue luv
