One of the best tutorials about brush-making. No reason to buy any "my fantassillion best brushes" for 20,50,100 bucks. Make your own! Like in all of arts it is the understanding and feeling of your tools wich matters. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Addie and Abbie, this was another wonderful lesson. I learned SO much (and here I thought I already knew quite a bit about brushmaking ... lol). You two are angels for sharing your knowledge with us :-)
I’m late to the party as usual but I wanted to say a big THANK YOU for this! I’m going to watch it on my laptop and follow along on my iPad...so excited to make those brushes!! I think of all the brushes I’ve bought and wished I knew how to tweak them just so....now I think I can!!!! Yay you two!!
I may be a bit slow, but could you please tell me (and maybe some others) which brush you started with. I couldn't see it on my iPad , it was a soft one you said ..... does it matter?
This helped me so much. I wanted to draw something with a watercolor style on procreate but it was difficult finding the right brush settings, thanks to you two I now know what I need to do and I also variate the settings a little to make different kinds of forms for my usage
Wonderful tutorial. I’ve been playing around with the brushes and I read up at the Procreate Handbook but the way you guys explained everything it really clicked so that I can apply that knowledge with understanding. Great job. Thank you VERY much 👍🏻👏🏻😃
Love your sessions. They are brilliant, so useful and they keep me from the lockdown's insanity. Very interested in "colour" versus "color"... I see both and I always wonder ;-) ...
wow..this was splendid... and seriously u guys are awesome help & masterminds...waiting for the next part, if you can share ripped paper, & more stamps & vintage paper effect will be great...thank u so much for sharing xoxo
Could you guys do a session on how to make brushes that remove paint - Like scratching into opaque paint with a quill or absorbing pigment with a brush in watercolour? Would you modify an eraser…or make the hard edge watercolour brush more rigid/ less flow?
hello I've watched this so many times - learning takes time so thank you I have a question would a gouache brush be more like an oil brush or a watercolor brush any tips will help me understand thanks so much! :))
I’m adding this comment here because this is your most recent video together. I am really enjoying watching you in your interactions with each other and learning so so much! I would like to request that you do an oil portrait. Not a formal portrait but a more stylized portrait that has more of a collage look or realistic paint look. Hard to explain. But something with more depth of paint than much of what i generally see. I can almost always tell it is digital. I would like that to be more of a mystery question :-)Thanks! Robin
I appreciate this tutorial so much Addie and Abbie...I was curious how you downloaded the procreate handbook Abbie cause I couldn't find the link to do that...can you let me know. Thanks and keep up the great work I have all your brushes Abbie - they are great!
My friend and I love your videos and explanations. We wish when you video, that the ipad screen fills the screen. Less boarder and more screen so there would be more clarity in trying to read what is on the screen. Thank You.
Hi ladies! 🤗🤗 newbie here ☺️ new to Procreate and to your channel, this was my very first brush tutorial and I had such a blast!!! I can see why watercolor is so popular right now! The smudge was my favorite I think! That was so neat!! I am definitely looking forward to going through the rest of your tutorials and learning much more! Thank you so much! ☺️
Very Very useful content, I see that you are using an Ipad Pro 2020 12.9, may I ask which maximum size of canvas do you feel comfortably working on, in order to have "enough" levels? Thanks, P.S. does the watercouls brush interact with only one level or also the others under? for example on the contructionlines that we want to leave inaltered, Thanks :) Max
Thank you. This video is fantastic. 💗💗💗 I’m halfway done but I want to ask if there is a way to make a mixer brush like the ones in Photoshop. The smudge brushes are nice but they don’t behave the way a mixer brush would.
This is such a good question! I don’t have a ton of experience with photoshop brushes, so I’m not as familiar with the mixer brush attributes or how they differ from procreate smudge brushes. What are some of the key differences in your experience? One thing you could look into is changing the blur amount setting (under Wet Mix settings in the brush studio). Blur as a brush attribute was added in v 5X and it definitely changes the behavior to be more smooth (and maybe more responsive?) - though I’m uncertain how much closer that is to PS mixer behavior.
Photoshop mixer brushes will blend colors like red and yellow and actually make orange. I did some experimenting and I found that the first watercolor brush Abbie had us make will blend colors well when used as a smudge brush. I was happily surprise to discover this. Thanks so much 💗
I just love these duo tutorials. I learn SO much. I do have a question though. I cannot find a slider to adjust the wet on wet look. If I’m not mistaken, the most common procreate brushes are wet on dry in that they over lap and the overlap shows. I’m looking for a brush that blends together on my second stroke. Is that possible?
Hi! Can somebody tell me With which "basic" brush can I use as a canvas to start modifying it and make it a watercolor effect? Because I started with one that seemed basic to me and I followed all the steps and it didn't turn out :(
Hi ….. I don’t seem to have all the source library, do you think that may be that I only have an iPad 5 or is there something else wrong. I also can’t find the starting brush that you edit.
If I understand correctly, just tap + to creat a new brush. I think they made all changes on the generic brush properties that Procreate suggests whenever you click on the plus sign

So, I just got procreate. I'm following along decently, with this video, but my brushes are all sort of rounded or blunt at the start.. there's no taper like hers... so they aren't turning out right... anyone that can explain how I fix this?
Under wrench, under pressure and smoothing , Try to modify your App pressure sensitivity arc by increasing the pitch slightly. In the 2nd square from the left and 2nd down. Put dot near bottom left.
🙏🙏🙏Tnq for the tutorial to both of you … but small request… 1. please mention the source name which will be easier for us to find out 2. Could you help us in naming the brushes 3. Plz mention the brush name selected every time when we make a new brush because it’s going in sequence we are unable to see the names and many times maam didn’t name them so … 4. Ma’am’s iPad is very faint .. we r. Or able read anything because of the camera focus maybe Tnq Regards it’s just a suggestion maam
As much as I would love to finish the entire video, I don't think that would possible this week because my personal schedule is fully packed (I have school and work), but I would really love to know at what point in this video they start teaching us how to make a watercolor brush... This looks like such an interesting tutorial video but I do not have 52 minutes :(
Sorry for the late response! Start at 00:43 for the basic brush which you will then duplicate to create a watercolor brush. Then there is a second kind of watercolor brush directly after that - watch through around 18 minutes for it. The time stamps are all in the description if you want to jump around or come back to a certain part!
Went way too fast in parts ..couldn't see ipad clearly..had to replay multiple times. Didnt say which tabs she was in all the time..ugh..😢 but i think i got about 1 brush from this video.

Thanks for this tutorial. Great video and finally understand how to make watercolor and oil brushes.
I may be a bit slow, but could you please tell me (and maybe some others) which brush you started with. I couldn't see it on my iPad , it was a soft one you said ..... does it matter?
Exactly!! I couldn’t tell which they used
I just watched the tutorial and they just started with the brush you get when you hit the + to go into the brush studio.
I’m pretty sure it was just the default brush when you hit the + to make a new brush
How blessed are we to have this knowledge for free!!!!! Thank you Addie I’m a fan of all your videos!!
Ahh thank you for taking the time to watch, Brooke! You’re the best! 🥰
YOU SAVED MY LIFE! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🥳
This video is a life saviour I’m so relieved and happy I found this tutorial.

Thank you again Abbie and Addie. This was another informative, fun and friendly session.
Wow what a genius and a generous one! I am so inspired to make these, thank you both!

I hit a jackpot with this. Thank you so much
Thank you so much, I was about to purchase a watercolor package for $99! Followed the steps and still have more to finish.

Thank you Abbie and Addie, I learnt a lot from you both.

I can only say WOW!
You guys are great!!!! You helped me so much, thank youuuuu :))))

This was so helpful. I've followed along quite a few tutorials without knowing what the settings meant. I learned so much
What brush did you use in the beginning to edit?
hello I've watched this so many times - learning takes time so thank you I have a question would a gouache brush be more like an oil brush or a watercolor brush any tips will help me understand thanks so much! :))
This was so amazingly fun and helpful, thank you so much

How do you create a wash or wet brush that doesn't have any color to it for blending edges or feathering edges out
I appreciate this tutorial so much Addie and Abbie...I was curious how you downloaded the procreate handbook Abbie cause I couldn't find the link to do that...can you let me know. Thanks and keep up the great work I have all your brushes Abbie - they are great!
They don’t have download links anymore…the book is online: procreate.art/handbook/procreate/introduction/

I would think, the pull has something to do with that ..try 50%

I can't see what brush you start with. The screen is out of focus. Can you tell me?
My pen pressure doesn’t work for some reason? The brush still stays the same size even when I max out all the pressure settings :(((
